Video Contents:
35 - Airport Layout/Diagram Description
11 - Hot Spot 3 - The North Run-Up Area at STS. Small, piston aircraft are given a clearance limit of this area, and NOT a departure runway. Once entering the "North Run-Up Area, pilots then contact air traffic control for the actual runway clearance. This is a unique procedure at STS and has led to pilot confusion. This segment also describes common errors involving this location on the field.
40 - Hot Spot 4 - The intersection of runways 14-32 and 2-20 near the north end of runway 2-20 has led to issues of pilots departing from the wrong runway. Pilots should always verify their heading and runway clearance prior to beginning their departure roll.
17 - Hot Spot 1 - The intersection of taxiway A, A5, and Z can be confusing. Pilots need to be aware of taxiways, and their location on the field.
58 - Hot Spot 2 - A portion of this area, the South Run-Up Area, is not visible from the control tower. Be aware that the tower may not see your aircraft at this location!
