From the Vault: 1860 Richards Army Conversion 

I found one in Gillespie County Texas near Fredericksburg Texas. 758 on the trigger guard. It's just rusted enough not to be able to be read. Found out with 4 rounds still stuck in it frozen in time. Only thing gone is the grips. Think it might be a ranger gun. Found it on the side of a hill laying on a rock where there were thousands of flint balls

I have two uberti 1860 army conversion revolvers in 44 Colt and a 1872 open-top in 45lc. Love um.

I have the same pair in 44 special . Two of my favorite guns.

I'd love to see a 1874 Sharps. They're incredibly accurate rifles. With the recent popularity of long distance shooting and new cartridges like the 6.5 Creedmoore, It would be nice to see just how well the venerable old 45-70govt can be just as accurate, and still retain enough energy to actually hunt. I am privaledged to own and be able to shoot a Pedersolli replica, and it's been my experience at the range that most younger shooters have no idea that these rifles exist or that they can be accurate. Thank you.

Nice to see how happy you are with a past purchase. I responded to your enthusiasm. Are you partial to the 8" bbl? Or was a 5 1/2"" just not available? For those in the market for a Cimarron Richards Transition Model Type II what are the preferences, the appeal of your .44 Special vs. the .45 Colt? (I'll "pass" on the .38 Special.) Considerations for comparisons: balance, heft, accuracy, recoil, sighting, general-overall looks? Do you miss not having the brass trigger guard or are you fine with all blue? I think I'd go all blue. . . . During coronavirus, with "time on our hands," I ran across GUNS OF THE OLD WEST Spring 2019 issue and re-read with enthusiasm its exhaustive, six-page article on this Cimarron from Uberti. "Got me thinking."
