@@The_Scouts_Code The actual quote was "no one challenged my knowledge of the off-stump as much as McGrath did" and can be found on many online sources. The OP here embellished a bit for effect :-)
@@abhishekranjan3787 and yet McGrath said that the only Indian player who could get entry into the great Aussie team of lates 90s and 2000s was Rahul Dravid. Nothing depressing there kid. Greatness knows how to recognise greatness.
not only that...his max. wicket was front batsman not tailendar... and most importantly he takes wicket all over the world with minimum echonomy rate in both odi and test.. best in business
McGrath could bowl faster than 131kph, around 140kph flat out, and he could also take it away from the batsman, not just nip it in. He worked out pretty early on that he wasn't, and was never going to be, fast enough to just blast blokes out of there with sheer pace, so he adjusted his game plan. What a lot of people fail to realize, is that if you bowl as fast as you can all the time two things happen, firstly you can't bowl as accurately, and second, the batsman gets used to the pace, and batting becomes easier for him. If you bowl within yourself, you then have an extra variation up your sleeve. You have a quicker ball, as well as a slower ball. I used to practice bowling yorkers absolutely flat out, so that when I attempted to surprise a batsman with my quicker delivery, it would hopefully get me a wicket. McGrath is a lot taller than me, so he was able to generate extra bounce when he really bent his back, another thing that can often get you a wicket. Bowling within yourself most of the time is also easier on your body. You can bowl longer spells, and get less injuries.
@@darrenjpeters I have seen McGrath get wickets bowling 128 kmh. McGrath said in an interview that bounce is more important than pace. Just bowl the ball perfect line and length with some nipping in and some staying straight is all you need. He had a better career than Gillespie and Lee both of whom were much faster and moved the ball more.
I m frm India and 90's guy who seen complete McGrath era ....love frm India. What a time that was McGrath, Lee,glaspi, akram ,waqar, aktar,,Donald, Pollack, kallis,Heath Strick.... And many more THE LEGENT.. Love that time sooo much
Anthony Kernich mate we play afl and it can take months to prepare a pitch for the summer which will take too long when you’ve got afl six months of the year
When considering who is/was the greatest fast bowler ever, McGrath's name would feature prominently, either at, or near, the top. He was truly magnificent.
my all time australian bowling lineup would be warne, cummins, lillee, mcgrath, in batting order not in order of skill. i can’t split lillee and mcgrath and i think cummins will be in that conversation when he retires
At that level, taking 7+ wicket hauls, especially 10 wicket hauls several times will undoubtedly put you on the highest tier there is to be on. Glenn McGrath is the most consistent bowler that I had ever had the privilege to witness. From a kid in the late 90's right up to his final ball, Glenn McGrath was my favourite fast bowler. Legend is the word.
Look at the speeds and the lengths. In 120s and good lengths, people these days just talk about bowling full and fast which is what you would prefer but the most important thing is consistency.
Mr NoName Starc has better numbers than him in both tests and ODIs, Lee was a great bowler but Starc posses all his attributes while troubling batsmen with the left armers angle and vastly greater height
It’s actually incredible how similar the trios stats are, you can almost see them as a like for like attack: Cummins averages 21.45 and McGrath 21.64, Hazlewood 26.57 and Gillespie 26.13, and Starc 28.26 and Lee 30.81
Very similar attacks, Cummins/McGrath the one who has it all to trouble batsmen and the spearhead, the line and length understudy Hazlewood/Gillespie and the scattergun but scarily quick enforcer Starc/Lee
That's why I prefer Glenn McGrath against other bowlers. Akram comes close because he had the skill ....Ambrose a little bit as well. But Glenn McGrath not only has skills but converted those into wickets. All over the world as well
And he did it when it matters the most and all over the world. After 1992 wc akram flopped in world cups but mcgrath was man of the series in his last world cup
@@alpacinoravidutt like sachin flopped after 2003 wc and pointing performed consistently well in all world cups. pointing is better than sachin. sachin also flopped in 1999wc and 92wc as well .
@@alpacinoraviduttyes...but I wouldnt say Wasim flopped...he had decent numbers but McGrath was on another planet. 99 and 2003 were decent for Wasim but Glenn was just going through the gears and was picking wickets for fun in 2007 WC where he was man of the world cup
@@Karanvirk09 How ironic that you call me what you behave like. I never said they were bad . But for me number 1 is Glenn McGrath... Wasim akrams best performance in test is 7/119 while Glenn McGrath has two 8 wicket hauls in test. Also I said Wasim Akram had skills. Blind fellow
90ish kids today appreciate all the former retired bowlers and batsman. We miss good old days when cricket was actual cricket and we waited for new series to start… 2003 aus team was the best of all time.. those days n that kind of team will never come back.
Those were the days man waking up at 5 am just to see Tendulkar and the others bat to the best bowling attack at that time beating Australia in Australia was like the highest honour you can achieve
McGrath is the most professional most disciplined most humble bowler in the cricket history ❤ love from Pakistan Greetings from Dubai ❣️ legend never born again ... missing 😊
Tall fast bowler, lovely bowling action, good line and length decent pace not an express pace, was enough for this legend to create ruckus in any batting line up. That's McGrath for you.
Stunning. Speaking as a pomme there's not many who have bettered is action and balance in his run up. Is wicket to wicket accuracy was a sight to behold especially with warney at the Other end!
Glen magrath was legend what a accurate line and length my favorite bowler of all times taken wicket of most of the legend player like Sachin and Lara 15 and 18 times respectively . I love to watch clashes between Glen and Sachin. Love from India🇮🇳🙏
Slow medium pace.... Perfect line length bounce and variations! Bowling from as close to the stumps as possible McGrath Vaas Pollock My all time favourites!! Respect from 🇮🇳
Woke up early in the morning watching for grit and determination even though I knew losing is inevitable but in 2 hours I watched an absolute horror of a show credit to Pidge
As a pommie and a teenager watching the 05 ashes, I truly realised the greatness of McGrath. Unfaltering line and length and had every top batsman in the world in trouble. Combined with Warney, the most devastating 1-2 combo from a bowling pair I've ever witnessed and think I will ever witness . Whilst England may have won that ashes much to my excitement, that Australian team captivated me in a way a team has never since. Genuine world class players and hall of famers in nearly every position. RIP the GOAT bowler and competitor of all time in my eyes. Wish Warney was still here to take in the latest ashes test but the good die young. He'll be up there parting the clouds with that leg spin!
@@Telugu_Vlogs_Off seriously?? He has a pathetic record in asia....the last time he toured in India he completely lacked the sting and ended up blaming the Indian pitches for his incapabilities
Glenn McGrath he is greatest legend of all time ever and ever Till now there ever and ever No1 bowler in the world His great bowler of Australia 🇦🇺 Very simple action good line and length bowling. Outstanding performer 🙏🏻
Took many wickets with Lee, Warne, Bracken, Johnson, Gillespie etc already in his team. All equally great and to shine in that team speaks volumes of how great he is.
He has destroyed indian batting line up so many times but you can't help but to appriciate and applaud his skill with the ball.. absolute treat to watch. Greatest fast bowler ever
Simply maintained line & length... Dicipline. No aggression at all. Equal credit goes to fielders as well cos Australian fielders hate dropping catches...... Magnificent
Good ole Inzi, never in a hurry to leave the crease even when he's smashed it. Never walked once in his entire career, waited for the umpires decision even when middle stump was cartwheeling towards the keeper.
Its amazing how he induced edgea and got those balls towrds the fieldsman despite having all the fielders in and around the slip cordon and having the rest of the field at the mercy of the batsman.
Glenn McGrath and Adam Gilchrist are more than great players. They're legends and gentlemen of cricket. They played 3 World cups and went to finals thrice and won the world cup thrice.
Not as skillful as a Malcolm Marshall, Wasim Akram, Sir Richard hadlee but most probably one of the most hardworking fast bowlers to have graced this beautiful game of cricket.. With sheer blood, sweat and tireless efforts became one of the best. Pigeon lover for ever.
