The way Shoaib bowled in this match, he was begging to be hammered. I guess he forgot that you cannot intimidate batsmen like Gilchrist by bowling short.
Australian cricket team had their golden period 1998-2008 . During that period of ten years Australia had played 282 ODIs out of which they have won 206 matches.Such an amazing record
Adam Gilchrist Used To Play Test Match And One-Day Match Like A T20. He Is The Best Wicket Keeper Opening ODI Batsman Of All Time. Adam Gilchrist Has The Highest Number Of Sixes In Tests Adam Gilchrist Is Voted As The Most Destructive Batsman By Bowlers All Over The World. Australia Dominated The World Cricket By Winning The 1999, 2003, 2007 ODI World Cups Due To Players Like Him.
It was like Aussie XI vs School boys. So dominant was Australian team. Gilly is my most favourite player of all times. A real Legend and a very humble man . Hats off to Gilly from Kashmir India.
What a breathtaking performance. The best bowlers from around the world at the time, highest ranked, combined into 1 dream attack and Gilly flayed and thrashed them to every corner of the field like they were schoolboys. This was Gilly at his peak. He had just come out of some bad form (maybe the worst slump of his career) in the English tour and was trying to put it behind him with lots of boundaries and lots of runs. Boy did he make some bowling attacks pay, as he made up for his patch of bad form and frustration! He was slaying his demons with a smile on his face and enjoying every boundary with new joy and thirst. Awesome to watch.
I was at this game, seated 1st row behind the world 11. Shoab Aktar spoke and joked with the crowd on a few occasions, he seemed to have little interest in the game,
@cricket.com.au a big thank you for you one of the few cricket channels on youtube which provide old cricket matches with good video quality. you literally bring back my childhood memories
@@Sahil-Singh. - I disagree... Richards faced some of the most fearsome bowlers of all time... As an Aussie, I won't ever deny Gilly's prowess at the crease... he was truly a machine when he got his eye in... but he was fallible too... he had many a cheap dismissal to his name. Richards was downright arrogant class personified... He did everything Gilly could do... without head protection. The man was fearless. I put them both on an even par. To say Gilly was way better than Richards is to ignore several key factors.
Will we ever see a good cricket team as that Australian team? The Australian team of the time was full of stars and treated the World eleven as little boys. It is sad watching the current Australian team compared to the past superstars.
But even with that team they have won the 2015 world cup and now again they are the favourite for the 2019 world cup is well .But you said true when pointing was the captain of Australia no one can beat them in any match that time they were unbeatable.
Australian selectors, development and first class cricket have all combined to ensure Australia will never have a power house team like that of the mid 90s to 2005 again, especially in our life time.
Thank for uploading matches in australia with nine world of sports commentarie,i remember this was the melbourne 2 coloniel stadium indoor (under roof).
Gilly had an eye like a dead fish. A real game changer. Best wicky/batter in the business, and redefined the term all rounder. Love hearing richo and grieggy commentating if but for a moment.
07:30 saw this shot live on tv and thought how can anyone hit shoaib akhtar like that...shoaib was in his prime that time...Reliving that moment make me nostalgic.
After watching videos like this how do people still think Kohli is better than Gilchrist? This was legendary batting against some of the best players in the history of cricket..
No cheeky shots, no power full hitting, no scoops just an excellent exhibition of timing, placement and skills. Pure class batting from gilly 😍😍😍best era of cricket.
Hitting six used to be a feat. Taking the wicket of a top order batsmen was special. Maiden over was a highlight. Taking 5 wickets was like scoring 150. I really loved cricket when scoring 270 meant you almost had the match in hands. Chasing scores above 300 was a world event. Fours were a treat to watch. Miss hit meant losing the wicket. Speed had accuracy. Pitches had character. It had issues with umpiring but that made matches much more engaging. One thing that hasn’t change is my love for him. I loved him then, I love him now and I’ll love him forever. Such an exciting character whether he was batting or was keeping wickets. His walk off when he nicks a ball. His towering sixes. Cuts the ball so hard which was treat to both the eyes and ears. And the child like smile❤️ Adam Craig Gilchrist
Anyone in 2024 and missing those old days when he came out as an opener and was a delight to watch. You're one of the finest batsman the Australian team has ever seen. Thank you for all the memories Gilly, always an admirer 🙏🙏
yes Gilly always used to be on the top of the world and well no opening batsman was so charismatic on his day as Gilly used to be and he never used to hover around in the crease for kidding he simply used to starts scoring , threading like a knight with a sword and used to Substract the opposition's scorecard while chasing the runs and the best part was that his strokes were risk-free.
Time flies. Last time when he played he was of my age. 35 or 36. Now he is 50+.. can’t believe it. One day I will talk about him to my grand child. God willing
Gilchrist, Ganguly, Yuvraj, Lara, Hayden, Graeme Smith, Jayasuriya, Sangakkara, Trescothick, Anwar, Flower.. There are something special with left handed batsman which is treat to watch.
