Watch every ball of Glenn McGrath's spell of 4-8 (10) against India in 2000 (including an incredible 53 dot balls) here. It's the most economical 10-over performance by an Australian in ODI cricket.
Perfect length. Not a single short ball, half volley or full toss!.....he altered the line around off stump and just outside. He moved the ball in both directions off the pitch....and programmed batsmen by testing their understanding of where their off stump is... that spell to Sachin wow! Glen was one of the best of the modern era in all formats on all wickets.
@@aj_0073 sachin tendulkar did it in 2003 WC final, so don't say something that u have no idea about. N don't start thinking that you would have hit him out of the ground 7-8 times in every match.
10 overs just 8 runs including 1 no ball and 2 wide....he was truly a magician and legend amongst greatest of all time cricketers that have ever played the game...
I think one of the reasons McGrath and Warne were so good is their consistency and their variation. Also, the fact when Mc Grath bowled an over there was no let up, so when say he finished, at the other end you got Warne coming on or Lee. Australia had a great team back then who put you under pressure, with the bat, ball and in the field too.
He is beating technicaly perfect players like Sachin and Dravid consistently, that shows the class of the man, He is the one who really proves that pace isn'nt everything. What a legend!
@@sidaly4399 Sachin's batting technique is near to the perfect level. Just playing defence all day long doesn't mean that you have better batting technique. Sachin was equally great in both front foot and back foot and he was great against spin the 90s as well. He was flamboyant than Dravid, that doesn't mean his technique was imperfect.
Love it how this is put together, ball after ball without showing McGrath walking back to run up..you can see the subtle in and out variations and perfect lengths
@@srikanthreddypuli3389 ha ha ha so you might think they can face c Ambrose bouncer w akram swing w younis yorker today most of the cricket pitch is flat and the bowl doesnt swing much but also there are ony few player who brillant look at sa wi sl pak team they have many legendry batsman in past.
@@srikanthreddypuli3389 if you have seen ind vs aus match recently than have you seen there is no swing seam no turn in pitch the quality of cricket is degrading in my view.
How good was Glenn McGraw bowling good line & length relentlessly!!! He was very accurate & uncanny ability to take wickets. Batsmen always in trouble playing the ball!!! One of the best fast bowlers the Australia has produced.
@@manisshthakur621 they had hardly scored runs and dominated mcgrath. They are bheegi billi. Only few times they had head on taken on mcgrath and scored runs or otherwise score century against Australia only when mcgrath is rested
@@aryansingh5248 Brian lara has 5 centuries including two double hundrads against australia with mcgrath playing in it. I dont know what are you smoking man.
I think that time batsmen didn't have good enough skills to face bowlers like him, wasim akram etc . With all due respect to mcGrath, i feel he would've ruthlessly been dispatched by this generation batsmen
@@killed_by_kohli5543 n dis generation bowlers have been facing mediocre bowlers dts why u r having ur opinion like dt...n ur current generation have been given shorter boundaries, flat pitch n what not in their favour... If some of the greatest batsmen dt has evr played cricket were troubled by him then in dt era dis current generation would failed miserably especially in test matches.
If we play with small bats, larger boundary ,seamy tracks and pitch providing large acceleration and 5 fielders outside after 34 overs then how difficult will become for batsman to face bumrah ,so how one can compare modern day batsman with od generation batsman
Am I the only one wondering how big the wide line is? Truly a bowlers era and now I understand why this generation batsmen cannot be compared with those legends ❤️
Those are not wide lines. It was left to the judgement of the umpire. But of course it was more linient than today's standards. Also pitches helped bowlees and boundariez were further away.
I find it ridiculous that people compare modern batsmen with those from older times. Cricket nowadays is designed for high run-score. There is nothing in it for bowlers, so obviously someone like Kohli breaks Tendulkar's record. But are those two equal, not even in half.
That would mean Cummins is more than McGrath's equal because his figures are definitely in the same ballpark but in a tougher era for bowlers; plus he captains!
What a bowler he is! He is just superb. The first three wickets are Tendulkar, Ganguly and VVS Laxman. Against them his figures 4 - 8. That's pretty much sums up the calibre of McGrath. Kudos to you SIR...
With all due respect, Michael Holding is the most dangerous bowler of all time. Unbelievable pace, combined with good line and length made him the giant that everyone feared.
Best of the Fast bowler's coaching manual. McGrath was hitting the length consistently in that channel outside the off , nipping back inside sometimes .Those lengths are very difficult for a batsman wether to come forward or else connect with still stance position. Great fast bowling
Corridor bowling at its best ... We call sachin and lara gr8 batters.. But in fact both off them heavily struggled against mcgrath .. They scored wen mcgrath didnt play or they tried to see off mcgrath..nd score of other lesser bowlers.. Batting coaches should sort out how to score runs of corridor bowling..
@@viraj6099 tu out of syllabus questions mat puch. In this video where did you find Shrinath ? Did I compare McGrath with Shrinath? I compared McGrath with computer game.
@@soumalya1234 do you know that mcgrath main strength wasnot seam oe swing, rather bounce and perfect ucertainity line were...he will be effective till cricket last ....he can dance down any batsman in this era
@@dr.santoshsingh3115 Nope. Without subtle movements you can not create confusion. I am not downplaying his strength. But in today's game white ball does not do anything. It would be difficult to stop world class batsmen with length only. Look at the ball move in this spell. Even he was offline in one or two deliveries, the batsmen were preoccupied with what the ball was doing and they could not find gaps.
I started watching cricket from 2013 but because of videos like these I can get a glimpse of these legendary players like Mc grath , Warne , Wasim Akram , etc
I have never seen such type of accurate bowling since I have been watching & playing cricket last 10 years Amazing Bowling perfect length Most Difficult To Play Great👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
His height was always a factor , he always got good bounce even from good length ball , plus he can seam (not swing ) both ways .... which makes him unplayable at 130kmp+ speeds .
If I were Sachin Tendulkar. I would step out to hit him. No any batsman tried it in this match. I often watched ,whenever batsman tried to step out against him, his economy rate become more than 4 ran per over and hardly got one wicket.
@@YogeshKumar-ht8dt n mcgrath too is very intelligent... He would surely change his length... N we r analysing after his career ended but actually he did encountered many of the batsmen change of technique trying to counter him..
There's some.good quicks coming up including Cummins, Archer, Nortje, Bumrah, KG is just 24 yo. Mark Wood bowls over 150. Starc, Shami, Hazelwood, Ishant
Just sheer pleasure to watch......Reminded me of the highlights package of Wasim Akram bowling to Nzl in an ODI in Nzl in which he was swinging bananas.......Metronome accuracy and swing by both fast men....
No batsman from today would have played like Indians did in this match. They gave him too much respect. Modern batters would have spanked him with that speed.
I was so blessed growing up thru the 90z and seeing some of the best bowlers and batter's the game has ever had ...aus..S.A...India..Pakistan and other country had some the best teams ever ..37 this year..getting old
Excellent ball to ball compilation. Hats off to Cricket Australia and Legendary Glenn McGrath. Lots of love and 'EID MUBARAK' in advance from Bangladesh. 😍🏏😍🏏😍🏏
This is one of the best spells by a medium pacer it was almost impossible to touch the bowl You touch and gone. Only Dravid was striving hard with some determination
00:00:25 No ball call, folks, he don't score a run! 00:00:53 Got him! Got him this time! First wicket down for India! Gilchrist takes a catch and McGrath's got a wicket for the Aussies! 00:01:14 And another wicket for McGrath, but this time he's got Tendulker! 00:02:33 Knocked him over! Laxman is gone! McGrath's got his third wicket!
its more his length! Glen toys with off stump/ just outside off stump line off a VERY disciplined length. Tendulkar can punch off the back foot on good line bowling.....its the length that troubles good batsmen.... they cant come forward to drive, yet the pitching ball can move, causing issues for back foot players...
A masterclass in length, accuracy and seam movement. Zero half volleys and nothing to pull, perfect seam movement. Batsman’s nightmare. I saw this live at the SCG that day and I still remember that ball to Laxman.
Aussies show that even the greatest batsman was struggling to drive that is what McGrath is Great video not just putting screen play of wicket delievery
What a bowler he was. A good, steady, casual run-up, a short jump and a quick rotation of the bowling-arm. His accuracy is admirable as well, like youngsters are taught to target the gloves of the keeper. He's real tall, had a mascular build, and bowled really, really solid.
this was unbelievable he hasn't bowl a bad ball in his 10 overs and took 4 wickets and nowadays probably the most hard to get over batsman and to get wicket because the batsman invented many shots which they can play to protect themselves
