A 26-year-old Shane Warne put Pakistan to the sword at the Gabba in 1995, claiming 7-23 in the visitors' first innings, his second-best figures in Tests
@@idioticoutburst4165 1999 hobert test match I remember. Gilly and Justin played brilliantly. Langer was out caught behind off Akram but it's fine . It's part of the game. In 1997 peshawar match many decisions were in favour of pak otherwise that test wouldn't have drew.
MacGill was a greater spinner of the ball, but what made Warne special was his drift in the air and his presence of mind in the field. He shall always make any All-Time XI, alongside Akram, Ambrose and Marshall.
Becuase McGill had a round arm action he generated more side spin. Warne had a classical action which allowed him to bowl leg breaks with varying degrees of spin. Warne could actually spin the ball more if not equal to McGill when he bowled with more side spin but he was a smarter bowler who used more variety. The ball to Strauss at Edgbaston is the perfect example of how he imparted more side spin. Not taking anything away from these two great bowlers btw :) was lucky to have seen them bowl

His figures were far from impressive as he picked up just a solitary wicket at the expense of 150 runs. Shane Warne had a great 1993 year he had took 71 wickets against New Zealand and this holds the record for a spin bowler in a calendar year He collected 12 wickets in the 1996 World Cup, including a match winning 4-36 in the semi-final against West Indies. Australia though went on to loose the finals to Sri Lanka. Warne finished the 1999 World cup as the highest wicket taker as Australia lifted the trophy for the second time. In 2007, Cricket Australia and Sri Lanka Cricket decided to name the Australia- Sri Lanka Test cricket series, as the “Warne-Muralidaran Trophy” in honour of Shane Warne and Muttiah Muralidaran. On New Zealand tour in 2000 he became Australia’s highest ever wicket taker in Tests, eclipsing his hero, Dennis Lillee’s benchmark of 355. He made a comeback to international cricket in February 2004 and how. In an engaging spin battle with Muralitharan, at home Warne took 26 wickets in 3 matches, against the Lankan’s including 5-fers in each innings of the first and second Tests. In the 2005 Ashes, Warne ended with 40 wickets at 19.92 apiece, and scored 249 runs at 27.66. It was perhaps the best of all his Ashes campaigns. A memorable series for Shane Warne. He was named Wisden Leading Cricketer in the World for the year 2004 in 2005 Wisden Cricketers’ Almanack. Warne’s first ball in Ashes cricket, later referred as ball of the century was a giant leg-break - which drifted away to leg and then ripped back to crash into Mike Gatting’s off-bail. From that day it is a part of the cricketing folklore. Richie Benaud, who was doing the television commentary, during the match said: ‘Gatting has absolutely no idea what has happened to him and he still doesn’t know.’ Warne had one Achilles Heel, and that was Sachin Tendulkar, for whom he once famously claimed that he had nightmares of Tendulkar dancing down the wicket and hitting him for six. His average against India was 47, not impressive by any standards. He has not a great record against India. Warne’s most notable T20 achievement was leading Rajasthan Royals to the title in the inaugural edition of the Indian Premier League. His aggressive captaincy and impeccable man management skills were striking, so much so that experts reckoned Warne was Australia’s greatest captain that never was. Warne has also won IPL Title for RR and he was the bowling coach for RR in IPL. He had took 708 Test wickets and 293 ODI wickets for Australia He was one of member for australia team when australia won their 2nd World Cup Trophy in 1999 He was also one of the member ICC Hall of Frame 👏 👕 339 International matches ☝ 1001 wickets 🏏 4172 runs One of the great legend 😊😊 Congratulations 👏👏 Love from India 🇮🇳 Happy Birthday to you Sir 😊😊🇦🇺
How beautiful bowl came out of his hand, drift and spin sharply. Even now a days no leg spinner came close to him from any country. The world has seen the best ever leg spinner so far.
Rod Marsh for me.. but Healy a close second place from Gilly. IMO Healy was a better gloveman but Gilly undoubtedly set the standard for wicketkeeper/batsmen.

I watched a show where Pakistan experts said that salim malik played warne the best. He was the first to hit warne blah blah😂😂... Look at the way he gets out to warnie😂. M yousuf, Younis khan to me were excellent players of spin from Pakistan. Real legends
