Here is the latest invention by Kevin, a consumable "plastic-like" bag, Cassava Bag (Bio-plastics). In the talk itself, Kevin also shared the stories about this invention.
Kevin Kumala is an entrepreneur and he is particularly acute in his study of biological sciences. Kevin never ceases to seek for solutions to minimize the effect of plastic pollution. In year 2013, he decided to retro-engineer the commercialised petroleum-based products by replacing it with bio-plastics polymer together with his R&D team. This serves as launching pad in which gave him the momentum to further his research which is then producing solutions derived from renewable resources with common underlying attribute of being 100% biodegradable and compostable.

That's why a lot of great innovations and people will always be taken/hired to other countries, they didn't grow in Indonesia, we are lack of 'appreciation' tbh . Not complaining tho, with this conditions, they deserved to grow in other countries

It's not revolutionary. It just so happens that he's doing it while other people are not. Just like Tesla. Electric cars are nothing new. But Elon is doing it. We can say the same about Alcool. Brazil was doing it but the rest of the world wasn't. To think ethanol can be made with any plant material.

Go partner with plastic companies and teach them how to dispense this so that we can have a better place. Everybody is interested with this how come we're still using plastics? Teach them for free if you really want earth biodegradable. You'll be forever known as an inventor of these btw. You are genius! Use your genius idea make the world a better place.

Im Indonesian but I think Avani Eco bag is not the first who produced plastic from cassava. The first who produced plastic from cassava is Ecoplas by Sugianto and it has been distributed since 2011 in Jakarta.

The petroleum industry will suppress anything that it deems as a threat to its existence. The internal combustion engine has been obsolete for 40 years but the petro industry suppressed all the alternative technologies.

If bag dissolves so fast in water, what happens in the rain?

Rain isn't 50 degrees Celsius so it won't have the problem of dissolving in it

@@zodec8151 uh, rain gets cooled by outside temperatures. So alot of rainfall in a 50 degree environment could be a problem.

It dissolves in hot water, your bag is good unless it's raining at 100 degrees Celcius

@@johnandreimayor822he was dissolving it in 50C though. I see a lot of plastic bag usage in the fast food / takeaway industry where the benefit of plastic over paper bags is its ability to contain liquid and stay strong when wet, and a lot of wet food carried in those would be over 50C. I really want this to succeed but I can see that as a significant drawback on mass adoption unfortunately
