Front Brakes and Rotors Replaced on a 2012 Dodge Ram BIGHORN 1500

Today, I'm replacing the front brakes and rotors on a 2012 Ram 1500.
The left front brake was starting to make "a light scraping noise". A quick look and it was evident that the right front rotor was starting to show signs of the outboard brake pad was worn down to the point of metal backing coming into contact with the rotor. The rotors were also worn to the point that they had a very noticeable lip on the outer edge. Because having the rotors machined doesn't make sense unless you own a lathe, it's much more practical to just replace them. They were probably worn to minimum specs anyway.
This is a COMPLETE front brake and rotor replacement, tailored for the high salt diet. Everything that gets water, oxygen and high volumes of salt, swells and breaks, fails, seizes, binds, snaps, perforates, or just becomes a big brown crunchy mess. In areas where vehicles are exposed to road salt, the BRACKET requires special attention, if you want your brakes to last more than one year! This is no joke! Pull out the old pads and slap in some new ones, just doesn't cut it here!
Even if all you are replacing is JUST THE PADS, the bracket ABSOLUTELY MUST be cleaned and fully reconditioned.... AND THEN extra measures must be taken to prevent the pads from LOCKING in place within the first few weeks of salt exposure.
the brake pads should NEVER, EVER bind, or get stuck, and should ALWAYS move freely! (Some systems maintain a LIGHT amount of spring loaded tension on the brake pads ears to prevent chatter or rattling)
If you've never performed a brake service before, this video will help YOU see what is involved in replacing them the right way, so you won't have problems months down the road.
Torque specification found by searching "2009-2016 Dodge Ram Brake Job Specifications";

I do most, if not all repairs, with tools that I carry around in my overloaded 1997 Crown Victoria Police Interceptor. I perform "On-Site" braking and suspension repairs, amongst other diagnostics and services. My tools consist mostly of Craftsman, a few Stanley, Snap-On, Husky, Pittsburgh, and S&K tools. Scan tools include hand held Actrons, DVOMs, and test lights. I also currently use a Zurich ZR Pro, for advanced and bidirectional diagnostics as well as a Snap-On Verus Pro, for more detailed diagnostics. Another job you made look easy, especially liked the step-by-step explanation, also the barking dog in the background was a cool special effect.

LOL I got lucky that this one was in really good shape (overall) The owner was in the back yard roughhousing with his pups. I put a little extra emphasis on some things I've seen dismissed on other RU-vid videos. This, however, is a geographical/regional problem.

Take your time... and make sure everything moves as it should, when assembled, BEFORE torqueing the assemblies..

CRC makes a black grease in a tub with a brush to apply that works great for the brakes and is made for the high temps

This was well thought out. The fact that he does it without a lift is doubly impressive. I would have used a torque wrench on the lug nuts though.

I've been working on the ground all my life. It's the flat on my back that I'm getting too old for...lol "If lug nut torque was so important, the manufacturer wouldn't have given you an iron bar (at a weird angle) to jump on..."
