I put this kit on my 2007 350Z convertible.A good tip to keep you from running wires to your battery. The windshield washer has ignition power on the passenger front. You can tap in to that and no need to have ground running to the battery also. You can mount the solid state box to the front bumper steel frame and have room to remount the front bumper.I used small screws and pre--drilled the holes.Add your ground to one of the passenger side mounting screws with a small heat shrink eyelet you provide.
The main reason I recommend putting it on the battery is because I want to ensure it gets proper voltage. I've had modules flicker and fail on me in the past due to power voltage being provided to the unit. But whatever works for you.
AnthonyJ350 oh I see now, only payed attention to the lights, didn't look for the hood hump lol, but yes I watch them often for knowledge that I can apply to my Z (the more you know) they're very helpful and professional, keep it up bud!
Great video and very useful. In the UK your setup wouldn't be legal so I made some minor changes. Basically DRLs can only be used in the day here, and they must be the only lighting on the front of the car. So I connected the white wire you ignored to the parking light and I relayed off my stereo. That way the DRLs are active whenever the car is running and they switch off when the parking lights come on.
Which bulb are you using for the parking lights? it compliments this set very well. I ordered the kit so I would like to get those parking lights as well. thanks
Great video, you obviously take great pride in your work! Have you ever installed an amp and sub in a vehicle without carpet. I run with no carpet(mud) in my 94 bronco and I have my amp installed on the trans tunnel cover. I removed it and installed bolts and locking nuts so it's very sturdy. I have my sub in the rear so I just loomed the speakers wire and used a loom clamp between one of the trans tunnel bolts. What are your method(or any tips) for hiding wiring in a jeep(or no carpet 4x4)? Thanks for any help, love watching your videos!
+Brad Jim Hmmm, ya never fun when there's little interior. You could buy conduit for home theatre applications can use 3M bumper tape to hold it to the sheet metal then paint it black. Or if it's really thin and small wiring, if there's a lip you can use Gorilla tape. I'm not suggesting screws because there's a high chance you might punch through to the outside of the vehicle. Glad you're asking questions on how to keep your wiring clean!
I like these LEDs!! I was hoping you could tell me which LED you used in the parking light? Looks very "Porsche DRL" like. Would you also do an install video for those?
I got the bulbs from REV Performance. If you watch my headlight replacement video that will give you the general idea how to change those bulbs. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1_rm5s4BxVI.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-elzVs9uNgn8.html
Anthony, I noticed these LEDs have an option to dim the light when the headlights are on. I suppose because they are too bright for use in complete darkness. Did you set yours up to dim, and if so how did you connect them to know the headlights are on?
I watched your video and its great. I am installing a relay like you recommended. One thing I would like to know is where you got your trigger wire to bring in your relay coil. I am not sure where you got your red trigger wire. Thanks!
hi, i was wondering if these look good to the eye as well. can you see like the individual LED's or does it look like a strip? i know on camera it looks good but i was just wondering what it looks like to the eye. thanks man, love your vids
Hey man, lol finally checked out the video. If this came in red I would get it to match my red daytimes(no clue how I haven't gotten pulled over yet, guess hid is bright enough) but did you put led turning signal bulbs in up top?
+IconicYT There is snow where I am (very very little), but they do salt/ use brine on the roads when it's cold. I have multiple vehicles so I don't like using the sports car in the colder months because I don't want to expose it to that stuff. How ever I think the 350Z can easily handle winter conditions with a properly working LSD and the proper winter tires if the car isn't lowered. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-VyIi1z5TMgE.html
Is it possible to have the LED's set to turn on only with the parking lights/headlights??? I don't want the switchback and only want the front bumper LED's on with the parking/headlights.
This is not regarding your mod but can You drive with the wedge bulb city lights on (the small light near the main light) ? My 04 lights have it so they turn on on the first flip on the headlight knob, that the same for the newer headlights?
So I apologize if you have already answered this but it was a lot of comments to scroll.i purchased the switchback drl/ts kit and received it today.i was following your guide and the install video from ijdm to test function b4 I install. I have a dual module setup like you. when I touch the white wire(dim) to power nothing happens. I believe this is because the wire is going to the spot on the harness that has a grey wire not hooked to anything. Also I have an orange jumper coming off of my acc+ wire at each module and 3 wires coming out of the module that are not connected t o anything...all with pre-installed connectors. do you know which wire I should hook the grey lead to to make them dim and also what the other leads are for? I'm currently waiting for ijdm to respond to inquire but would like to get the lights installed asap...thanks much for any help you may have.
so you've had these installed since February it seems. honest opinion how is the quality and how have they held up since install? I've heard good and a lot of bad about these leds. there is a guy that makes these custom at $200 plus. zleds is his company are these comparable?
+mobmmk I've seen ZLEDS on RU-vid and they look awesome. I believe he modifies your factory housing. The switchbacks have been flawless for me. But you can also see I install it in a manner beyond what the average DIY person would do. I believe that's where most people have issues. They don't supply enough voltage or do a proper ground. Most issues are probably install related.
hi Anthony,. I recently just purchased some switch back LEDs but it looks like the contact doesn't bottom out on the plug. So it's not making the contact, do you have any recommendations? thanks
Do you think this install would work on my 2003 350z? I've been to the iJDMTOY website and they say that it would only work on the 2006-08 years. What do you think?
+AnthonyJ350 They do have a set for the earlier models, but it doesn't look nearly as classy as the ones that you have installed. They are also not switch back lights which saddens me.. /: Maybe I can find another kit, and still apply this guide. However, as a new member to the car modification world, I love your easy-to-use, easy-to-understand guides!
Michael White I'm glad you like them. Stay tuned because I will be going over the sound system install in my car. Also later on I'll be visiting The Z Shop and we're going to address that clicking noise in the axles.
Hey dude, I own a 350z Nismo and am wondering if this will work on the OEM Nismo bumper? I believe the reflectors used are the same despite being closer to the wheel wells. Thanks.
That I'm not sure. I'd call the dealership and find out the part number for a regular 350Z vs a Nismo. If the front reflectors for 2006+ are the same for all of the models, this should fit fine.
+cornell young As long as you get the whites to turn on. So you can also have them set up as a DRL. I tried just firing up the turn signal wire alone and it did nothing. Then I try turning on the main power with the signal and it would just flash white. I would contact iJDMTOY and see if they have a more detailed instruction manual for wiring configurations. I didn't want to experiment too much cause I was scared of damaging the switching module.
Hey,I just bought this kit and am a little confused on how to wire the switchback for the turn signals. I thought each side yellow went to positive on the turn signal bulb, is this correct? Also is this all that has to be wired to turn off the drl and make the turn signal blink? I am going to be wiring them to be on all the time lights off or on! Thanks
+Gabe Jones If you want the lights on all the time, wire a relay to ignition so when, you turn on the car the whites turn on. Then wire up each yellow to each signal. You could also see if the e-brake goes to 12V when it's down you could use that to trigger a relay. If it goes open it won't work. Make sure to use a fuse inline for the power.
+AnthonyJ350 I'm testing the lights on a bench and I have the red going to positive and black going to negative. I'm just trying to trigger the change over to orange blinker to make sure they sent me the switchback version.
Gabe Jones Try to put a fuse inline on the yellow and feed 12+ to it while red is still hooked up. Try giving pulses like your turns signals. When first powering up the module, you'll have to wait a little while for it to turn amber. Only happens when first being fired up.
I installed mine today, signal works good, turn the headlight it goes off like suppose to my problem is it won't shut off. Headlights off, car off but light stays on, tried different wiring set up still the same. I'm lost.
hello Anthony, quick question for you here. so there was a fuse on the red wire when i bought the drl. what did you do to it? what was the extra wire gauge you have used?
and for the extra wire, you wired it to parking light? by any chance, do you remember its color wire? i just got my drl today so now im drawing out a wiring diagram so i need more specific info
man please where the white wire goes ? I have to open the front lights or at the battery ? plies am going the installation now and am stuck there !! if you can answer to me today I will be very thankful
I don't have instructions and I don't know what to do . I have a Nissan 350z and am installing the same led lights at the front bumper , i did all the things you tell at the video but I don't know were should I plug the white wire can you help me with that ?
Is it possible that these will work on an 04 350z I know it says 2006-2009 but damn these reflectors look really good and there's no other reflectors like that for models 03-05
ok im lost sorry i currently have a drls with turn signal my lights run through a relay that turns on with voltage differnce and my signal turns on when i signal to turn etc but does this module stop the white orange flash and just have orange signal then drl comes back on when signal switches off will this work with my current setup? and where can i get them
+Luke Reynolds Yes this module will only go amber when it sees the turn signal pulse. When the pulsing stops it will just go white. It does not go white and amber during the signal process. The link is in the description where you can buy them.
Ya unfortunately the module has to think for a split second so they don't flash at the exact same time. The good thing is you're driving so you won't see it 😉
AnthonyJ350 okay thank you! And you said you ran a new white wire? Where did that go to? I cant use the white wire they gave me? It has a spade connector at the end of it
Hi Anthony, I ordered the IJDMTOY daytime switch back running lights for my 2005 350z but they are like universal ones that go on the outside of the body in front and have seven little LEDs in the reflectors. They look pretty cool and I tested them out and they work on the car but not bolted up yet. The only thing I cant figure out is that ones you show here in the video seem recessed and they look nice and bright and very cool. Are those for a 2006 year 350z what exactly do you have here. Thanks for the great video it was helpful. I did end up taking off my front bumper and I was suprised it comes off with out jacking up the car and it took like 15 minutes to remove. I sent it out for painting since I had a lot of chips. Now I need one ballast for my burnt out right side low beam and I will get it all back together. Check out my drone video channel if you have time.
AnthonyJ350 I bought a light kit from them. The kit was defective, missing wires as shown in their diagram. LED light was also not working. I've email them and sent them the entire kit back asking for a replacement. They email me saying that they've ship out the replacement kit. What's really mess up is that they also give me a tracking number that was supposedly being tracked through USPS. From day to day's I would check the tracking number and it wasn't showing anything valid so I call USPS and they had nothing on record about the package. I email iJDMTOY numerous time and they would give a different excuse. This whole process went on for about three months and I just told myself, fuck it. I've never got my money back or a replacement. I stayed away from their shop since then. A first and last.
@@isoooalrock But did you see how much work is involved? How many times do you want to do it if it doesn't work? Up to you, typically you get what you pay for.
They do paint it to the correct colour code. What I think is the plastic takes to it different than the metal. When I look at my factory moulded mud flaps they have the same issue having a different tone.
you don't do a good job explaining everything *at* *all*. 90% of the people watching this have no clue what freakin "85" is and all the other numbers as well. you need to offer a thorough and detailed explanation for whatever you talk about so us viewers can comprehend what you are talking about and actually learn what to do
Well the relays are labelled so 85 means pin 85. Most of my videos are meant for people that have a general understanding of basic mechanics or electronics, especially for an install like this. If someone doesn't understand a relay they should have enough common sense to look up a relay video or on Google. If you find this video too complex I highly suggest paying a professional to complete the job.
LoL i installed mine in under 30 min but removed the bumper to do so which made it so much easier . Im js why not spend a extra min to explain the white wire and the relay . I no exactly what a relay is i used to install led underglow kits at best buy for years but 90% dont and why make a video not spend a extra min or 2 to explain a relay for the ones that dont no or the white wire
Thats gay and your video would be great if you explained installation being more specific for example the white wire that is used as on off wire that u kinda skipped over and didn't explain .
brandonsouthernky Well with a response like that I don't really feel like helping you at all. You can pay me hourly for my knowledge if you like. School is not free.
brandonsouthernky Is reading the owner's manual below you? If you talked to me like that at my shop I'd either charge you double or not work on your vehicle just for lack of respect. Do you talk to professionals this way?
