This is not a pivot door. it's a conventional swing hinge door where the hinges are attached to the side of the door. A pivot door rotates on a vertical axis via a spindle offset from the side of the door towards the center. Usually a pivot is used on large doors because the door is far too heavy to be hung via hinges.
Hi Matt - I am building my own home and am fascinated by this door. I have a well equipped wood shop and quite a bit of experience but have never built a front door. Plus I am finding the hardware options, and the vendors websites, confusing. I got the Pemko auto door bottom saved in my amazon queue but can't figure out or find the Rixon offset hinges. Any hints? Is Raleigh NC temperate enough for this setup? Thanks
What about at the top of the door? What kind of sealing is done there? On my pivot door (Australia market, Corinthian doors) there is just a brush seal at the top which is pretty useless.
