04 4runner 4.0. I used one of those old school truck battery hold down bolts, the all thread looking L shaped rod to pull my seal. Just hook it behind the seal, grab it with a pair of vice grips, use the crankshaft as the fulcrum and pop it right out. Worked great.

Just did this job and it was easier thank I thought, once again you are the man. Promise you won’t ever sell your truck so the vids keep coming. Thanks again.

If your truck is automatic, you will need a tool to hold the harmonic balancer when torquing it back on.

Another great vid! One observation. Do you think after pulling the fuel pump relay, do should crank the engine to burn off any fuel remaining in the engine? That bad boy could fire up from bumping the starter during the front bolt removal.

Thank you for made this video. It helps me to replace my seal to day. I have a question about tight pulley's bolt. I shifted my gear to D then tried R but when I tight the bolt, they pulley turn. So I tight s as much as I can. May you explain how can you tight it to 184 ft-lb?

I'll be doing this soon mines puking I'm assuming it's the crank seal could possibly be timing chain cover also I'm not looking forward to doing the timing chain cover ever since my frame was replaced I've had so meany issues front diff breather wasn't even connected and they broke the vacuum nipple for the 4x4 🤦 they said they did the timing chain cover and guides . Sabotage ? Shitty mechanics? Who knows can't trust the dealership. Drive shaft was missing a nut also and CV axle was binding the day I picked it up they replaced it and we week later it had surface rust and looked older than the one they didn't replace . Been 3 years now and I'll never go back to the stealer ship .
