@@atl7720 Got the Lexus camera for cheap off eBay but never installed. If I remember right it's just like installing a backup cam. I couldn't decide on a new stereo deck with extra aux or a separate screen for front cam. So never got around to it sadly
You don't have to use the ground wire, the video cable provides a ground for the cammera, I didn't believe it at first but after seeing someone do it I tried it and it works. Figured I would share that info.
In many cases this is true. However not all cameras tie the video return to ground. But even if they do, doing so can create a "ground loop" that introduces electrical noise into the video signal. Just because something might work, doesn't mean it's the best approach. Best practice is always to ground power and video separately and tie to a source as close as possible to the device being grounded.
Mine looks very similar. Coming off am aftermarket stereo I have a wire FCCD front camera control direct. Do you still have to power the camera, as the stereo indicates when you switch to front camera on the device, it then turns on rather than being on constantly
The FRAC Harness provides a power wire that is connected to the red wire in the video cable. Check out www.FRACharness.com for more details and a link to order the FRAC Harness.
It connects to the camera power wire provided as part of the FRAC Harness. Check out www.FRACharness.com/pages/installation-help for detailed instructions.
