One of the most beautiful love songs ever . . . It makes my think of Rotorua and the lake with the island where the lad Tutaniki sung this song so Hinemoa could follow his voice over the water, so they could be together. I lived there for over 40 years.
This song will always have a special place in my heart . It used to be my dad's favorite song when he came back from NZ . Pokarekare ana . Going there someday.
there is a certain nostalgic quality when a heartwrenching melody like this is sung by its original people, you can almost see and feel the original lover singing for his love in these Maori boys.
my mama is from new zealand and always used to sing this to me as a kid. ive only been there once but i feel like the forests and hills there are my home and always will. this song reminds me of that and this was beautiful, well done dudes.
That was captivating and so so beautiful. I remember singing this song that same year at Choral/Big Sing for Aotea College. I would say out of my 5 years participating in The Big Sing, this would be my favourite song. So glad I stumbled upon this video. Bought back many fond memories. Thank you Aorere College

I would have loved to hear them do all the verses! So good to hear a song written by a man for a maiden being sung by men. No disrespect forr the quality of their voices but it isnt a song from a girls perspective
