Frontier Airlines is a low cost carrier in the United States. In this video, I'll review Frontier Airlines’ Airbus A320 service from Austin to New Orleans. This is the second episode of the #LowCostCarrierComparison where I'll compare Allegiant Airlines, Frontier, and Spirit.
If you haven't yet, check out the first episode (with Allegiant) here:
• Allegiant Airlines Air...
In this video, we'll check out the Frontier Airlines experience on an A320. Is it worth it? Are the rumors true? Is this a terrible airline? Check out the video to find out the truth about Frontier Airlines!
I’ll share what I paid - spoiler alert - this Frontier Airlines ticket started at 93 cents, but got more expensive, quickly.
We'll explore Frontier Airlines' booking, cabin, seat, inflight service, and more!
Don't forget to subscribe for the rest of the #LowCostCarrierComparison videos. At the end of the series, I'll even compare all three to determine whether Allegiant Airlines, Frontier, or Spirit is the best!
For the full takeoff and landing footage from the entire #LowCostCarrierComparison series, check this out:

I never threw bags like that, there was no reason for them to do that. The most I ever do is when I pull them off the top of the stack I let them "fall" to the floor, but I slow the fall a lot so it is not much of a impact or if any at all and I just slide the bag on to the belt.

I'm 18, my dad is a captain on the A319-321 for American Airlines, absolutely love how positive your content is. You always do truly look at the "Greener Grass" of life! I've been fortunate enough to travel all over the world and often in first class for little to no cost. I absolutely love seeing these types of av geek videos!! :). I remember I flew in seat 1A on a mad dog (REALLY QUIET!!) Coming home from dallas and even though it wasnt the best seat, the FA was honestly the coolest lady we could have asked for. My mother met my dad when she was an FA (no longer works as one), and she and Paula (thought the FA also had an awesome name bc my name's Paul!) Really hit it off about TWA work back in the day, great conversation, and she gave us humble non revs a really awesome basket full of snacks because she could tell we were really jet lagged from coming home from the cruise we were on. Haha, sorry for the novel! Mad love from the midwest. Dad commutes to his base in Dallas from STL.

With Frontier, Spirit, and Allegiant you can go to the airport and buy a ticket at the ticket counter to avoid the $37 worth of fees.I also bring a decent sized bag as my personal item that can fit enough clothes for a few days and put it under my seat to avoid paying for a carry on.

Hi, Jeb! Great video for sure. I’ve flown all of the “budget” carriers, but I believe I prefer Frontier the most. I’ve flown from my home airport of Greenville, SC to Tampa Bay for $35 round trip. Yes, this was with ONLY a backpack and no extras but still. You cannot drive to some of their destinations for the cost of the flight! Anytime I go on a random short 2-3 day trip I’d fly a “budget” airline to save costs. Otherwise, Delta or Southwest it would be!

I recently flew on Frontier airlines for the first time. A nonstop flight from Norfolk, Va. to Las Vegas. My round trip price was $262. I might add the return trip was also nonstop. The $262 included they're bundled package 1 checked bag, 1 carry on, and 1personal item, plus priority boarding and I was in row 3-f window seat going and 2-f on the return. I never went pass my row so I wasn't aware that everyone didn't have the amount of leg room that I enjoyed on my flight and the full size tray until I saw your video. We were also on a very new looking A-320. I was rather impressed with frontier, and I will definitely be booking another flight with them. I love the nonstop flight to Las Vegas.

Great Report! One note is that all the equipment that Frontier flies has the same seating width and pitch. When I fly for business I pick rows 1-3 or the exit row as they come with a full size tray table and 4-5 more inches of legroom plus recline. The big problem is that this jumps the cost up significantly more though so at what point does it defeat the “Low Cost” purpose! Love your video from one Avgeek to another!

I took this flight round trip the week before Christmas from New Orleans to Austin and back I paid around $100 total and that included selecting my seat location and upgrading to the larger and more comfortable “stretch seats.” This was my third trip with Frontier this year so I’ve learned to pack light and had all my gear in a “personal item” sized backpack and did not incur any extra baggage fees. I had a good experience at the newly opened “New” New Orleans airport and enjoyed experiencing the South Terminal at Austin. Austin’s South Terminal was reminiscent of many regional airports in the 70’s and 80’s. The worst part of the trip was connecting to and from the South Terminal from the Main Terminal and the local hotels. Coming in the airport’s shuttle bus seemed to take forever to get me to the Main Terminal and the rental car desk. My return flight departed at 6am so I decided to skip the slow shuttle via the Main Terminal and opted to take a taxi so I didn’t have to get up quite as early. The $23 taxi ride was money well spent as I went directly from my hotel to the front door of the South Terminal and completely skipped the holiday crowds at the Main Terminal and the slow shuttle. As best I could determine, none of the local hotels run their own shuttles to the South Terminal so taxis or ride shares are your best bet to save time. As I mentioned before, this was my third trip on Frontier this year and I have few complaints. All of my flights have been right on time or even early (except for one departure that had a 30 minute weather related delay). A little research will yield some great deals and pricing.

Just went to Denver & back from Dallas. Hadn't flown (except my own Cessna) in over 10 years so chose Frontier out of curiosity, and for the low fare. This trip was last-minute so I was looking for cheap. I bought a bulkhead seat for $32, which had great legroom but didn't recline. I always get window seats since I gaze outside non-stop (it's a pilot thing, I think). I totally lucked out & had an empty seat next to me! The ONLY empty seat on the plane! The seat was hard & appeared well-worn. It was not comfortable & I got the impression they skimp on seat quality. Before completing my purchase I measured & weighed my backpack to see if it qualified as my one, personal item. It was an inch too big in 2 directions, but I chanced it & nobody at Frontier said a word. My suitcase was also barely too big as a carry-on but again I chanced it with no problem. I rarely fly so I don't know if I'd choose Frontier again, if only for the hard seat. All else was fine, I suppose.

@@BoomerKeith1 I admit that I still fly from PHX to ORD on Frontier. I just purchase the fire exit for $25 each way, and it turns into a $200 round trip. The red-eye PHX->ORD is perfect, and you get dropped off in terminal 5 at ORD so you can take in all the heavies. Lot's of 787 and 777's. The return flight ORD -> PHX is timed perfectly you leave Chicago at 9PM and get into Phoenix at 11. Terminal 3 at Phoenix is brand new and awesome, and Terminal 5 at Chicago has all the interesting people to look at and all the good food, not to mention all the international carriers and the heavies. If you get the A320 NEO the fire exit seats are awesome. One has no seat in front of it, so you get infinite leg room and a window. But other than a seat and an airplane ride, you won't get nuttin' else. Spriit is actually a better flight.

Living in Colorado I've been flying on Frontier almost as soon as they began operations. Prior to increasing their routes and being bought by Indigo, it was a phenomenal carrier. They had the top of the line in-flight entertainment (seat back monitors with Direct TV and WifFi, free on all flights). After they were bought by Indigo, the in-flight entertainment was completely scraped (including the wifi ability). They truly went from being a great low(er) cost carrier to a full on low cost carrier with no frills. Nowadays you can't even get a cup of coffee without paying for it. The condition of the plane interiors seems to have reduced standards as the last handful of times I've flown on Frontier there has been trash scattered throughout the cabin. And the flight attendants have been less than friendly. For my money, Southwest is the only low cost carrier I use anymore. You know exactly what you're going to get, they have in-flight wifi (for a cost, but Frontier doesn't offer it at all), and their customer service is excellent.

I flew Frontier airlines for the first time May 19th &May 26th, 2019. I saved $12 by not paying for a certain seat. I did pay $38 for a checked bag , but also had a huge carry on bag that I paid nothing for. 😁 I feel as though when I paid for my ticket, I didn't care what seat I sat in , as long as I had a seat ! Lol Going they assigned me to a good window seat with a very nice young lady in the middle seat and a Captain from that airline going home sitting on the end seat. Going home I was assigned a middle seat between 2 very nice young ladies. I had plenty of leg room going and coming. I didn't have to worry about tipping, as I never , ever eat or drink anything from any airline ! And I travel a lot. Yes, I would fly with Frontier airlines again. The flight attendants were very nice and 1 was very funny ! 😂 Those little trays are really funny !! 😂😂😂😂😂 ✌✌✌✌✌✌

Next time rows 1,2,3 and 13 have larger tray tables and more leg room. You will have a larger tray table if seated in row 4 and 14, but they are not stretch seats. Also row 27, if you’re on a A321, will have stretch seating and larger tray table. Maybe it’s because I grew up in Las Vegas, but ANYTIME someone does something for you, you tip.

I think people are missing the point about tipping. The flight attendants aren't asking for tips because they are keeping you safe, the tip portion is for the service aspect of the flight. You buy a snack, drink, or food item anywhere, you see tip jars and or tip screens. No different in the air. You can leave a tip or not, completely up to you. At the end of the day they still do their job and keep you safe in flight. Awesome video though!

I have boarded via stairs in the back of the plane flying Allegiant from PVU-AZA. That is always a neat experience!

I've also disembarked from stairs at the back on an Alaska fight arriving at SNA before, that one was pretty cool to see.

I’m from Australia. To me, tipping as a practice is something very personal and incredibly rare. I’m currently on holiday in the States, and I find this obligation to tip for everything confronting. The USA would be well to phase the process out as a compulsory component of income and instead increase the minimum wage.

Tipping a flight attendant is not a common practice in the United States. It's likely that this is some sort of tip pool that goes to all crew on board. I really doubt that any one on the plane working makes a tipped wage. This is not an obligation either, you are still welcome to say no as most people do with this POS tipping prompts. Also remember, this is a low cost airline, they will find any possible way to get more money out of you.

Those same seats are in Hawaiians Boeing 717s I find them comfortable but maybe it was the 31 inches of pitch on those seats. Cant wait for the next budget airline video!

I flew Frontier from Las Vegas-Denver-Harrisburg and both flights departed an hour late with no explanation. I upgraded to an exit row on the LAS-DEN leg on an A321 and those seats do have a slight recline....leg from Den-Harrisburg was a A320 and again upgraded to an exit row but no recline on that plane....seats are uncomfortable, especially after the 2 hour mark, but again like they say you get what you pay for and i got to experience frontier and Denver International which was the idea...probably wouldn't fly them again unless completely necessary....great video....looking forward to Spirit, i have never flown them.

Great review Jeb on a flying sardine can...I doubt if I would even fit in the seat !! I think I would rather go to jail than fly with this airline...or try my luck with United (uuughh) and No Tipping...they are primarily there for safety reasons not selling food and drinks!! Really enjoying this series of LCC flights in the good ole USA !!!

Nice job Jeb. PIty you didn't snag a seat in front of the wings and engine as those NEO engines have finally made the A320 a slightly sexy looking bird. The standard A320 is a sexy as burnt piece of toast. :-D
