bears can get u in a fishing hut like if u shoot one go inside the hut and shoot it again in can come in and get u just it is rare to happen but does seen a few people die this way and i got attacked plus the bear can glitch through the wall same with the porch in pv homestead
I got mauled on the porch to the pleasant valley farmhouse. Stood inside looking through the glass and got pounced. Happened once and couldn't replicate it
Interesting video-thanks! I'd be curious to see the cooked caloric output of each lure considering that Rockfish grant around 3x more calories than trout. For roughly the same calorie output, catching 3 trout vs 1 rockfish uses 2 more bait and triples your chance of line and lure breakage. Furthermore, single higher calorie-value fish make more efficient use (less bait and more cal/kg) of the bonuses to fish size from bait + ice fishing skill + cooking skill; you will use two more bait to realize the same caloric gains from 3 trout vs 1 rockfish, which will add up over the course of an entire day's worth of fishing. Consider also time spent harvesting bait-harvesting 30 pieces of bait will take ~1.5 hours. All of this is to say that I still think the lures are preferable if you're using bait. Also keep in mind that fishing in longer sessions is more efficient than multiple 1hr sessions. Would be curious to see how/if that changes results.
That's a really amazing video. Can't imagine how long that took to collect the data. And it's very usefull, seeing that the basic tackle is best for leveling ice fishing but the "better" lures are better in catching high quality fish. Thank you very much for your dedication, definitly erned a sub.
I felt that all the new gear was slower to catch fish, particularly at lower skill levels, and your data bears that out. Use basic tackle for advancing skill levels for higher catch rates. Catch bigger fish later. Thanks for the analysis!
You would think the lures with feathers would be more effective than the simple lure. In my latest Stalker run I used only a wire lure and then bait to reach Level 5. The Fishing Camp has so much trout and salmon killing a bear is unnecessary. Will you do any other guides?
thanks for your hard work, I was struggling trying to catch fish and figure out how to make bait, I think my game has a problem because I fish for 3 days straight and didn't get one fish
Great work. So i guess if you're fishing for Vitamin-C rich fish (Rainbow Trout/Lake Whitefish) to mitigate Scurvy risk, the best way is to use bait but no lure. If instead you wanted to max calories/kg and have less catches but with bigger fish (to reduce line break chance) you'd use a good lure and bait. Fishing without bait seems to be pointless except when you don't have one and want to catch one fish first to harvest some. What do you think?
Finally the update today fix the ice fishing hole bug in PV and will now allow ice fishing holes to be created in pensive pond and some other places in Pleasant valley
I did a test of my own using the revolver shell bait, I fished for 8 hours and around the 4-5 hour mark i catch fish almost every second (meaning i have around 10 fish at the 4-5 hour mark and it just gets better getting closer to the 8 hour mark)
I am at Coastal Highway now going for Level 5. Two questions 1) How often did your line break? 2) Does all your bait get used up? I cut up 9 pieces from a rockfish and fished for 4 hours catching 7 fish. All nine pieces of bait were gone.
To be honest with you, I can only give you the averages on line breaks. I broke it down as best as I could without getting too in-depth. As you increase your fishing level, the line break chance does decrease. In terms of bait, you don't NEED it but it does feel like it goes quick once you have it. I will say it seems to spoil quickly though as well.
