Thank you! I really hope so, I think some parts aren't as obvious as we assume they are once we're used to them, and especially the install-mods-in-load-order-and-launch-game-in-between thing seems to be quite rarely known, but it can really save you a headache haha

Thank you for the comprehensive mod guide! I've been using your mods for awhile and never thought to install each mod then load the game afterwards. I'll definitely start doing that from now on. It would be cool, but not necessary for you to cover other mods on this channel. As long as you are clear in the title that they are community mods, most people wouldn't be confused about it.

Thank you, I hope you've been enjoying the mods! And yeah not many people know about that, I only figured it out quite recently, and it can be such a life saver here. You don't need to launch between each mod, but at least between each "dependency group," so try grouping things into groups where no mod relies on another mod in the same group. I'd be down to cover others' mods tbh, I've been really itching to start covering other mods and maybe even DLC/Update stuff. But yeah I'll need to find a format that makes it clear that it's someone else's work and it in no way relates to me haha

Thank you. I have been hesitant to get a mod. But the more planet zoo videos I watch, the more I really wanted the free build mod, but I am really a novice at all this gaming stuff. it's my sons who are much better at it. But I was determined to figure this out, and your video was so helpful. I was able to successfully download all three of the mod things I needed and I am now able to use Free Build on my current zoo project. And it was so nice to be able to turn a grid wall piece with out it being on the grid and to make staff paths smaller. So thank you very much once more for this video.

They will be eventually yeah! All my mods (which weren't integrated into other mods or aren't perfectly copied by Frontier in more recent updates) will be updated eventually. Just a matter of when I'll have the time to do it :/

I wish there was a mod that let us freely edit the dinosaur status (I know that's probably not even posible). So that we could make then weaker or stronger, as well as asign or remove any trait we desire.

I really hope it helps new people ^^ I'd be interested in doing one, but honestly I find recording guides pretty exhausting, especially when it's something a open-ended as modding haha I just end up needing waaay too many takes for something this "short", this alonw wasn't very complex and took like 4-5 hours of takes/re-takes lmao But if I get more confident with this stuff, I'd absolutely be down for a basic mod-making guide! Probably not on the stuff I do because my stuff is mostly poking around what hasn't been done yet and that isn't something I can really explain (I can't give steps to finding something new, if it has steps then it's already been done ^^") but I can probably explain the basics and maybe cover decorations and stuff of that caliber

Hi, I wanted to use your free build jwe2 mod very much but regardless following your guide i have a problem with KaiCore - every modded in-game options seem to be blank [literally no text] and they don't work. Any chance to fix that? [yea i already posted a similar bug report at nexus mods but figured out it won't hurt to write it also here in case you didn't check nexus]

Hey, thanks! And yes absolutely - new skins/variants are New Cosmetics mods, which are basically just New Species mods but using an existing species. There are a very small number of older skin/variant mods (and some made by less experienced modders) that replace existing skins the old-fashioned way by replacing skin files, in which case they're just replacement mods and installed as such.

Heya! Not really no, but it depends on the mod. Any mods that include models or config files need to define the path to the file from the root game folder (So for example, the path for FreeBuild's config is "Win64\ovldata\KaiFreeBuild\Config.FreeBuild.ini"). We don't have any way to detect files in-code, so we need to hardcore where they're found. So if you place mods in the wrong folder at all, many will either stop working or they'll crash outright - this is why I put so much emphasis on dragging and dropping rather than using the Extract function when moving mod folders out of the .zip file, because a lot of people use the wrong Extract function that places the mod folder in another folder automatically.

@@Kaiodenic yeah thats what I thought. Thats why I always like to have a seperate copyfolder where all copies of my mods are. Just way easier to test which ones are working and if something happens and my game crashes permanently and I have to download the vanilla from steam again:) I still have a folder on my pc that includes copies of all the mods that ik are working. Sry for my bad english rn, am in hospital on some drugs they gave me lol

Hi. a very informative video, I just started playing this game but honestly downloaded a crack version which is almost 2 years back old on all over the internet torrent websites and now when im trying to modd is it is crashing and the error is "run_platform/ovldata/kaicore_menu/init.ovd: fileDoesNotExist (5). the application will terminate... what to do guys help please. thanks!

for a file that downloads as a .zip, do you extract the specific folder into the ovldata? or the zipped package?

You wanna do exactly what was done in the video - take the folder out of the zip and drop it into thr ovldata folder. You can double-click zips to open them, as in the video. Any "extract" function is dependent on which program or version of program/OS you're using and can either put the folder outside the zip as-is, rename the folder, or put the folder in another folder, where both of the latter will break the mod. Hence, the recommended operation is exactly as-seen in the video.

Wait, the Titanolophosaurus by MasterDoot says; "Download the file. Extract/Unzip the file. Move MDTitanolophosaurus to the ovldata folder. Enjoy!". Does that mean I should? Because in this video, you say to not extract it at any cost. Does that only apply to your mods or?

I think he says it because it's fine in certain programs that extract, while absolutely not fine in others. I say not to because it's impossible to know what program the user is using, so giving that as general advice will always lead to issues. The terms "extract" and "unzip" are also often used for just getting the mod folder out of the zip file, but I try to avoid it because it can result in people using the "extract" function, which should be avoided for the aforementioned reason.

Not necessarily, but you'll need to check if the folder structure in the extracted folder is the exact same as it is in the zip file. It's the folder structure that really matters, and it's what different extraction tools handle differently

fixed it, I removed your expanded foliage mod an now its fine, not sure why that mod makes the difference

Yep! As you figured out, it's the Expanded Foliage Brushes beta. We're assuming it currently uses high resources, or the game changes something with LoDs when foliage brushes are edited

Koi I now creating new species is not your thing but but please mod some fictional dinosaurs from prior extinction a game from Roblox into jwe2 As I consider that Roblox is a bad game generally although prior extinction is the best quality and models (actually check them out tho ) and I would love seeing these 4 called Dynamotitan v2 Acanthocaudia amphiceratops therodontosaurus v2dinosaurs in jwe2 please at least read this comment
