EDIT: i changed the thumbnail, because i didn't realize flor's boundaries about reposting included using their art for things like this. i also did my best to cut the image out of the video itself, but its not perfect and the only way to completely take it out would be to delete and reupload the video. respect for boundaries is something i try to emphasize especially online; i apologize for my mistake and will be more careful in the future. - - since i saw a similar compilation for a different fandom do the same and people found it helpful, i thought i’d try to do a quick breakdown of the things that i believe could be used as evidence that frost is neurodivergent (note this is based on my personal experience as a diagnosed autistic person) [EDIT 2: since i’ve seen some confusion start to pop up in places where these kinda hcs are discussed i’d just like to clarify that im talking about frost the character, _not_ derek the player] 0:36, 0:55, 1:48, 2:33 - missed social cues 1:06, 1:15, (probably) 4:10 - heightened sensory perception/sensitivity 1:21, 1:39, 1:48, 2:33 - literal thinking/misunderstanding certain euphemisms or nuances 1:15, 3:38 - fixation on minute details 3:16 can be seen as infodumping 3:04 - dexterity/fine motor skill issues (this one is admittedly a stretch and is only in the video in the first place bc they canonized it after nikkie said it was in character) 2:49 - not knowing how to react to praise/compliments (probably more a me thing tbh) [general observation] - his general speech patterns and largely monotonous voice are known as a flat effect, and is common among autistic people. i don’t have it to the same degree but i do struggle to control my tone of voice when not making a conscientious, focused effort to do so (im told this is why it’s so hard for people to tell when im joking) [not in video] - he picks up on the pattern of important plot points being grouped in threes (the three antagonists, prismeer being split into three realms, the carnival having three rules, etc) almost immediately. i didn’t include this in the video both because there were just too many clips of it and because i wasn’t sure if it was an actual character choice or just metagaming, but it’s worth noting [not in video] - someone pointed out in the comments of i think ep3? that most of frost’s fey curses are reasonably similar to common sensory disturbances (random weird tastes, skin crawling/feeling like vines are growing out of you), obv it’s not the same but if we take a more poetic/metaphorical interpretation of fey curses… [not in video] - this is almost definitely me overthinking things but while talking about ep9 with someone i started thinking about how mr light’s office is described with the same kinda vibes as most of the sensory rooms i’ve been in (at least the ones that weren’t child-oriented), again not that significant but worth noting you can rip my autistic frost headcanon from my cold dead hands thank you
@frownyclowny6955 I think felines refers to the members of the Felinae subfamily, and the larger order of Felidaeare all called felids. Tigers are part of the Pantherinae subfamily and thus arn't felines. I think over time because the vast majority of living cat species are under Felinae people started to use feline as a synonym for cat when it was originally was used to describe a certain kind of cat. (Sorry to rant I'm autistic, so I couldn't resist the urge to infodump about cats under a frost video) :P

That's a real shame, I had the impression that most people liked him a lot, I did anyway, always missed him the most when he was gone during the episodes. I just love his deadpan tone and dry humor, he's such a silly tiger man, then again I'm also a huge furry so I can't help but get drawn in.
@@lawncrow it was a very old poll on the Avantris channel that let people vote for their favorite characters, a year ago or more. Frost got the least votes, and when Gricko gained the powers to adress the GM and the audience directly as a fey curse, he remarked that Frost was always everyone's least favorite character. I'm pretty sure that has changed since then, but the joke remains.
God, every time I see clips of their WBTW game, I just think about how my DM ran it for us, and we got through the carnival in *one session.* I'm in awe how all those clips were in 9 episodes, and yet still they were in the carnival.

Ok so first bit is the “i didnt want to be who i was at this age” which is really common in undiagnosed autistic teens, the feeling that something is wrong with you because you dont function the same way as everyone else. He’s a lot more pick than the rest when it comes to his appearance in a way thats similar to autistic rituals, especially with his fake moustache, he applies it so much that the first thing someone tries when hes unconscious from drinking is to say that his moustache isn’t on, and one of the first things he does when meeting Torbek is try clean him up, which just rings of sensory issues. Ik it was a fey curse, but the loudly talking about unicorns at every point reminds me so much of when i have a new hyperfixation. He also lies a LOT, which could be perceived as similar to masking because its an everyday thing that he rarely expresses himself, even lying when its not beneficial or necessary at all 👍 also we need more horrible people autistic characters

I love it when neurodivergence is portrayed in such a hilariously accurate but not truly debilitating or condescending way. Frost is not built "wrong", he is just very often awkward or out of his element. He's like a motorcycle on a mountain bike path. Awkward and messy, but not defective. When put in his element, he thrives like no other.

me and my friends had a Google slides of our favorite characters and I put a crazy-overdone slide of Frost with a spinning plushy thing in the corner and everyone, at the same time, went “WHO EVEN IS THIS?” and one person shouted “OHMYGOSH ITS THAT GUY”
