When it comes to pushing marriage, this film is making fun of that trope and pointing out the issues with it. You’ll notice in the end Anna and Kristoff end up together, but they don’t get married because Anna has learned her lesson to be more careful. Great reaction!
The whole story is just based on the misinterpretation of the old trolls Warning. He didnt mean the fear of other people towards Elsa specifically, but also Elsas own fear towards herself. The whole "contain your power at any cost" thing leads to her fearing herself and therefore not being able to Trust herself. Which means the whole story is just the Parents fault.
Actually, I believe the message of the movie is a critique of modernday society. On the one Hand, being a unique individual is something very valuable in Western society. On the other Hand, if this difference becomes so strange to others that they start to fear and then hate you for it, you try to hide your self at some point. Hint: if someone tells you long enough that you are a Freak, someday you are going to believe it. I say this because I believe society cant decide which way is more important: everyone just being themselves or everyone being predictably "normal". Like, lets take gay men for example. The word gay is seen today as another word for weak of weird, although their is no reason to assume this. Someone just fehlt threatened by this lifestyle and decided to push it into a Bad light. And there are other examples, too...
@@ForgedInFire6469 interesting you say that cuz Elsa is taken as an LGBT character/metaphor for a lot of queer people and let it go is seen as her "coming out" song
@@mischr13 Interesting, why? You can see it as a General metaphor of not being afraid to be different by being yourself, but why is she seen as an LGBT character?
@@ForgedInFire6469 Because Elsa isn't explicitly straight and isn't romantically interested in anybody, so she might be asexual/aromantic or a lesbian. Also, her songs "let it go" and "show yourself" can be interpreted as queer anthems and, as someone else pointed out, Elsa trying to conceal her powers can be compared to being in the closet.
“If only somebody loved you” is one of the coldest lines I’ve heard in a Disney film next to Scar quotes in the Lion King. I remember seeing this in the theater and that line made my heart stop for a second. Then I got mad lol he’s such a snake.
I remember when I first watched Frozen when I was 9, I cried so much when Elsa started singing Let It Go. Some kids wouldn't get it at that age and would just enjoy the song but I felt Elsa's fear and pain. The way she's letting everything go and just accepting her powers made me so sad. Truly one of my favorite movies. ♡♡
My little sister and I have personalities and a relationship/history of trauma that closely parallels Anna and Elsa’s (Same ages, too! She was 18 and I was 21 when the first film came out, just like them), and way back in 2013 we went to see it in the theaters together, with NO idea what it had in store for us. Needless to say, we LOVED it and cried buckets - then ended up working through some shit. Free therapy, woo! This film holds a special place in my heart for that reason. The “true love” twist in this film was the first of its kind I’d ever seen, particularly from such a big company with a notable history of relying on surface-level romance to “save the day” - and it was SUCH a beautiful and gratifying reversal of the trope. True love can absolutely be platonic, and just as strong (usually stronger, imo!) as any romantic attachment. Like you said, I think this was the moment Disney and similar companies made the shift towards putting their energy towards more family-focused, rather than marriage-focused, plot journeys. Huge improvement. Some of the most incredible films have come out in the last ten years as a result (Coco, Encanto, Luca). Frozen 2 is exceptional. You’re going to love it. I would say I still prefer the first one plot-wise, as it feels more centered and cohesive, but the music in the sequel is even better, and there are certain scenes and themes involved/addressed that absolutely blow me out of the water every time. Have a tissue box on hand - it’s okay to cry! 👉👉 Great reaction! Peace!
There's a book called Frozen Heart that tells the story of Frozen from both Anna's and Hans' perspective, starting from the very beginning. It's really interesting because we see Hans' in his home kingdom and how he's treated by his family and we see Anna's on the night of the accident and what happened afterwards, like what happened the next morning when she wakes up and see what she thought happened.
I, like many, got "Let It Go" stuck in my head back in 2013 and 2014 and thought watching the movie would fix it. It did, but then I go "Frozen Heart" stuck in my head. However, I didn't mind that one.
I can't believe Frozen came out in 2013 😩 I used to have a singing Elsa Barbie doll and everything! So nostalgic ❄️ And Frozen 2 is just as good if not better!
Hey, I'm Canadian and I hate the cold too. That's why I moved to Vancouver Island from Alberta. LOL I love your reactions and your daughters sound so adorable. I have seen your littlest before and she is a button!
There's a neat and pretty plausible theory that Hans really did like Anna and really did have honest intentions but when the trolls met Anna, they put a spell on her and Hans so he would turn evil and double cross her just before he could kiss her and she'd instead fall in love with Kristoff.
Idc what anyone says, this movie will forever remain a classic both to the Disney industry and to me for one reason: the fact that they resolved the entire situation with family and sisterly love instead of the usual “true love’s kiss”
I'm almost 46 and I've had a gray streak in my hair like Anna since I was about 20yrs old! I was very insecure and self conscious about it and tried to cover it up for years with having my hair highlighted and colored blonde! About 7yrs ago my now 12yr old son(he was 5 or 6) looked at me and said "Mommy you have a stipe in your hair! You're like Anna 😊 oh Mommy you're so beautiful!" It was at that point I stopped coloring my hair and haven't done it since because he made me feel so extraordinarily special! I'm a natural blonde so my hair has a lot of blonde highlights mixed in with the darker brown and gray! Would you believe I get asked about once a month where I get my hair colored(gray highlights are all the rage currently) because my highlights are amazing! They can't believe it's all natural and say I'm blessed because people pay big money to have hair color like mine! 🤣❤️👍
I honestly love the second one more. but I don’t see why you say we can’t hear the music on here, but other people I watch reacting to the same movies have let some of the music play. And doesn’t get taken down .
I usually watch, never comment.. Just wanted to say that, man.. You are so pure! And I love your compassion! Also, fun fact: Elsa was supposed to be the villain of this movie at first.
When I experienced Frozen on the big screen, I was really entertained. Saw this movie three times in theaters(regular, 3D , and sing-along screenings). To me, Frozen felt like a classic Disney film from the Renaissance era, from the story, characters, and collection of songs. I laughed, I cried, and had a wonderful time with this animated film!
The fact that Elsa has ice and snow powers is cool and awesome. But she has to be very careful that she doesn't freeze anyone by mistake. But I really love this movie it's amazing and the songs are wonderful.
Hey JV! Not sure if anyone pointed it out yet but Kristoff (the main guy) is voiced by Jonathan Groff who played the live action Hamilton king that you guys reacted to ("You'll Be Back"). He's amazing!
My youngest is growing up with Frozen 2. She does the opposite and doesn't watch the first one. haha. I definitely recommend the second one. Its fantastic.
Their is a RU-vid channel known as Scribbles to Screens has a problematic production for the Snow Queen through the years and such but here we have the result of the film known as Frozen that took them over 70 years.
I’m surprised you thought that this movie was pushing the marriage thing because they were clearly making fun of the marriage thing that they used to do in Disney movies, which is why Elsa was like ‘what? You can’t get married to someone you just met’
Im so sorry for your fan who lost 5 families from covid.... It was truly heartbreaking to hear that 2 of them used to watch your videos together... I hope you get in contact with this person and give us update on how they are nowadays
This is one of my favourite disney princess movies. I can relate to both Elsa and Anna. The songs are really memorable especially 'Let it go'. I've also listened to the songs in this movie in other languages on YT (Spanish: 'Libre Soy', French: 'Liberee, delivree', Norsk: 'La den ga', Chinese: '随它吧', Japanese: 'ありのままの', Italian: 'Allaba Sorgero') and they are equally as good as the originals (English). Oh, not sure if u heard of this game called 'Kingdom Hearts III', there are some scenes from the movie that they put into the game though it's not really connected it in any way.
In case no one answered you this, this movie takes place in arendal, Norway. Also Anna doesn't have any powers. Edit: incredibles 2 has less grossing money than frozen. But Frozen 2 has more grossing money than the first movie, making it the biggest grossing animated movie of all time.
Hey JV I read your reply to Ryan Enarson and I’m pretty sure you are gonna hit 100k subscribers because we all love your reactions to all of the good movies you watch
anna is my favorite character because I think she is pretty and I really like her hair also elsa is my second favorite cause she is beautiful plus I love her blue eyes including her hair.
It's the best Disney film and frozen 2 is very good and I just subscribed and I love how you react to it there's a theory that their parents are tarzans parents so they didn't die but after they had Tarzan the jaguar ate them
have you watched Alpha and Omega? if ya haven't ya really should, but I loved dis reaction doe always fun to watch your reactions always puts me in a good mood can't wait for more :)
A great movie to do would be Daddy's Little Girls. After all JV you're a daddy of daughters also! Trust me it's a GREAT movie idea great 👍🏾 !! PLEASE 🙏🏾
Elsa has been crowned queen so she's not a princess anymore. I hate when people say she's a princess when she's clearly not but a queen (at least until the sequel but she's still not a princess there either).
A very vengeful, nasty side of me thinks that Elsa and Anna's parents *deserved* to go down with their ship. They were ruining their daughters with years of unnecessary isolation and emotional neglect. It was horrid. They aren't the worst Disney parents, not by a longshot. But they both suck, and I was happy to see them go.
Frozen is a great movie, but I still feel the twist was poorly done for one reason: Earlier in the movie, when Anna walks away from Hans after bumping into him, the camera lingers on him (WHile she's gone) and he legitimately looks after her with a smitten expression. It's so weird to me that, if he had ill intentions (even if at the time it was meant to be against Elsa) that we would see genuine feelings from him towards Anna that wasn't him putting on an act to trick her. It makes the twist feel more like a dirty trick, rather than something the audience didn't pick up on. All they had to do was not show that one clip and it would have been more believable.
This is actually one of my least favourite Disney movies. My niece used to bring a physical copy and I used to love watching it with her, but the actual movie itself… oof, it makes no sense and there’s so many plot holes. I think the only character I actually liked and made me laugh was Olaf.
