You just saved me $100 for new key fob. After 10mins of soaking 4wd I almost gave up as it still didn't work. Then I rememberd patience is virtue. Went on for another 10mins soaking up with 4wd and it turns like a butter. Thanks my man!

I am here just to say "thank you" for sharing this hack. A month ago my car has had a repaint, and after that, it looked like some debris had gotten into the driver door's lock, and I couldn't open the car from that door. I would instead use the passenger door to lock and unlock my car... The WD40 got it fixed, just like mentioned in this video. PATIENCE IS KEY HERE, I had to keep trying, and I succeeded at around the 6th time spraying and trying to reopen. Thank you again! 👌

I was about to loose patience but kept at it and kept at it and inserted key and gently turned key side to side until it finally opened. It helped me from having to dismantle my door a day before work. I will probably have to replace my lock soon, since my car is 2005 sentra,

Brooooo thank you this video saved my lifeee..I tried to get my key to open my car door for at least 2 hours and I finally said screw it there's gotta be answers on RU-vid 😂😂 the answers to any of your problems is always on RU-vid lmao but yeah after literally 2 hours of messing around with the stupid key hole I saw this video and after watching this video I sprayed a lil bit of lubricant spray in there and it worked within literally a minute..thank the Lord lol I didn't have wd40 but it was some lubricant similar to that and it worked great so hell yeah man thank you for this video it's very much appreciated

Will try this! My car just did this last week! Took it to a lock specialist and they said it was going to be $245 or more depending on the type of car to replace the lock!
After almost 2 hours I got the key to turn. But the inner manual lock still isn’t going down all the way to actually lock the door.. Thank you either way, still got the key to turn. That’s one less thing to worry about!
I have the same situation, but I put my key in and it the lock seems loose I’ve tried to open it several times , but nothing happens. I even tried the coat hanger trick through the window but doesn’t work either only clicks when I pressed on the lock button . I’ve tried once the Wd-40 trick it seems like it was getting there should I continue to do it ?
-20 degree and I could not put the key in key door lock (automatic does not work) so I can't turn key to open the car door and trunk but spray WD-40 into the key hole and it works right away Thanks.
I once had a car lock that was so gunked up from literally years of grime (never used the key) that it took three days of applying WD-40, trying the key, and coming back a few hours later.
This happened to me yesterday ( it was below freezing). My first thought was ice in the lock. I sprayed a bit of window de-icer and tried the key some more. Nope. Then i got some 3-in-1 oil, put a drop on the tip of the key. It still took a few tries to even get the key to go in. And a few tries to get the lock to turn. I think now i need to do my door hinges.

Update! After working on my hatch lock for 5 hours over 4 days and almost ordering a new lock for $200 fr9m Toyota I started thinking ' I wonder if it's the key'? It was the damn KEY! It was worn out! $10 for 2 new keys. So if anyone else out there has tried your brilliant advice and had no luck try using your spare key 😊😊😊😊
Ok. This worked last year when I had this problem. It started freezing up again a few weeks ago and I should have dealt with it then bc now I've been doing this for 3 days and it's not working. Does there come a time when it's just time to replace the lock or should I keep trying?
Hi, so my sister tells me to use Lock Ease or Graphite...what WD40 "specialist" do you recommend, looking at Amazon there's water resistant; white lithium grease; Penetrant; corrosion inhibitor...and more? Thank you?!
Will this possibly work with a lock that isn't allowing the key to be fully inserted for some reason. I was able to unlock the car three times this AM with no problem and now the key won't even go all the way in so obviously nothing will turn . No ice or issues like that here.

Hey, I have 2010 Honda Fit and the issue is that when I put key into passenger door to unlock, the key is going to the left, but feels like it is a bit spring loaded and doesn't feel right. The door doesn't unlock and to be able to remove the key, I have to force it and keep positioning it straight as it wants to tilt left. When I use main lock/unlock switch on the driver's door and try to unlock, the passenger door knob moves to unlock position and then goes back to lock. Other doors working as expected. I don't know if this is a mechanical lock is not working or something else. Any idea?
I also have a 2010 Fit and have had trouble with the door lock but my wife has a 2009 Fit and never had this issue. I wonder if the 2010 model was just cursed!
How long does this take? I’ve been doing it for 20 minutes and the only thing that’s happening is the wd40 is coming out the bottom of the door. Lock won’t turn at all.

To open most locked vehicles you turn clockwise to open. I don’t see it can’t work to go the opposite way to lock a vehicle. That defeats trying to unlock the vehicle 🚗
I have a problem.In one of my family's cars the original key turns properly.But the spare key doesn't.I put it in the lock but it doesn't turn left or right.BTW the spare key is a copy of the original key made by a technician since the second original key we were given at the dealership was lost a few years ago.If I do the "trick" shown in the video will the spare key work properly or I'll have to do something else?For instance,new spare key or new door locks?
I tried this and will not open. Honda Accord 08. I only have the key not auto lock. What else can I do. Do I have to replace the door lock all together?
@kobayashi okamoto i always left my door unlock after I got locked out. So what I did was bought a new key on Amazon and programmed it and now can Auto Unlock and lock my car door. But obviously you need to be able to get into your car and turn it on. If you cant get in call triple a. They will unlock it and dont lock it ever again until you het a key on Amazon. I never got the key cut yet I still use my old one to start car and just use the auto lock to open and lock. Hope this helps.
@kobayashi okamoto damn. Mines an 08. Still going strong. 172k miles and still drive a stick shift. What year is it? I mean if its old have somone just unlock the door. I left mine open for 4 years lol and I live in Miami haha. Never got touched man. If its a stick shift no one really knows how to drive those as much so should be fine. If it still runs have triple a open the door. If you dont have then its like 100 bucks I think. If not you’ll have to replace the door. Maybe the bolt inside is done for. Or the key. Have you tried a new key?

Will this still work even if I'm already able to turn the key. I am able to put my key in it's locks and unlocks the car but the driver door still won't open. So would that mean it's an alignment issue?
Have the same problem except my key is literally stuck in the lock. It turns to the right but won’t turn back to the left for me to pull it back out 🤦🏽♂️.
@@alejandramorfin6282 I took off my door panel and went inside to disassemble the door handle and locking assembly. As I got to the actual lock and key itself, it free’d the key up. I’m guessing maybe some foreign material got inside of the keyhole before I stuck my key in and jammed it up or the lock itself just stopped working. I got it out tho, fortunately.
My Audi a6 has same problem... I never use the key hole for years... But now the car battery is totally dead as I can't get access to my car... Does wd 40 will work??
I did this(not because of this video) and the straw got stuck in the door. I pulled the straw out, but a piece of the straw broke off and got stuck in the keyhole. Now my key won't even go in the keyhole. I'm looking for a way to get the piece of straw, which I can't see, out of the keyhole.
Absolutely, friggin, NO!! Never, Ever use Graphite in a car Door Lock! A locksmith will surely tell you the same thing. You see, over time the graphite will build up & collect dust/dirt, making the lock stick even more or get completely stuck. Scotty the car enthusiast speaks about it in his video on this same topic. 🤓👍😉
@@danielchrisronan2281 That’s true! I actually called my stepdad today bc my key to my 2013 Honda Civic wouldn’t let me unlock. It’s been doing that but today it took 40mns to unlock & I guess also it was pretty cold this morning. My stepdad had been a locksmith for 30+ yrs. He said NEVER to use that stuff. Ever!
@@RANDOMFIX I think the key is not the way in. I'm not sure. It feels like it hit a wall. One of the locksmith came out open the door through the gap in the door. He couldn't unjammed the keyhole. He Google it, he said he believes the actuator cause the keyhole to jam. He said it might need to replace the whole thing. I called other locksmith, they said it need the tumbler to replace. What do you think?
@@RANDOMFIX i have a spare key. Its bearly used but wont work. It works in the trunk but not the passanger door and the gloove box. Its a 1998 nissan silvia s14 I'm from Germany

Rite neighbor just informed me, key is strtng car but not opening door luckily I hava window cracked open a bit so I’m unlocking thru window, alarm sounds for bout3mins. I’m guessing it’s just FROZEN as we did get 6inches last nite but neighbor is also saying the tumblers or whatever maybe are bad inside key insert part I’ll hit it w/hair dryer maybe tmrrw
