About Elpis' trait pick, I think it makes a lot more sense for him to learn to move faster over being kind, since moving faster means he's cold for a shorter time.

Putting some lights into the containment cells will improve containment strength small amount (+5 iirc). You may also want to make some sort of EMP, just in case that Revenant breaks free... as for quests, blood rot prisoners does not seem too worth it, but the psylink neuroformer could be worth the trouble of the other one. Personally, I think it would be crazy and interesting to see it saved for when Elpis grows up. He's the main ritual invoker so improving his psychic sensitivity would improve both ritual quality and psycasting potential. (although the smart choice would just be another level for maniac)

I see little reason to take care of several useless people in this situation. Ignore the imperial quest. I see little reason why your colonists would refuse getting some psychic abilities though, so perhaps clearing out the pirates for the neuroformer seems like a good idea.

Nice, a cliffhanger! As for the quests, I think the prisoners should be ignored, 3 mouths to feed is too much, for the other, I think it's worth it for the neuroformer.

That corpse in Revenant cell is a grave danger to your colony - it is adjacent to door, and if it stays open (for example as a result of dumb colonist studying it without closing after them) containment drops significantly.

I love the imagery of two grown adults who are freezing to death being to full of themselves to do the one thing that would bring them to safety. Instead relying on the worlds most annoyed teenager to spend hours building her own drop twice just to fill the tank of the two most incompetent members of her group. I wouldn't be surprised if she thought for a moment that "saving" them is an option and not her obligation.

Please please please construct your containment cells in such a way that nobody stands in the doorways while studying the entities (also not Elpis work-watching). This reduces containment strength drastically.

Ellie and Elpis continue being the anime protagonists to it all despite the adults' prowess. Keeps on feeling like an (actually good) cartoon where adults are not that useful. Sure they're cool, but they have silly dumb hangups where only teen Ellie can save them. And I like to think that Elpis still IS kind, he just also sees virtue in not freezing his legs off right now more than taking time to display his kindness; he's the nicest void summoner that ever lived. Naseem has well and truly gone to the Cloud District though. Hope he comes back from it very often.

When I made my firekeeper mod for separate refueling task, I made sure it wasn't considered a dumb task. Hauling and Cleaning? I can see you not doing that. You can even train animals for Hauling. But not moving fuel for the stove or the generator?? The only one dumb is you for not doing that! - I am against taking the Prisioner quest. But if you do, do it for the books. - also against the Brigand Encampment. But if you do, Psylink for a Upgrade. Already got enough "no dumb labor" pawns.

Pete, you need LIGHTS in your containment cells. Having the cell in the dark reduces the containment strength considerably. Also, you can (and should) do both basic and advanced void research at the same time.

I don't think you should accept the prisoner quest. You'd need to use precious resources to make a prison and also heat it. If they have mental breaks and try to break out, they could potentially be killed while trying to subdued them immediately failing the quest. Also I don't think taking on two extra mouths to feed is the best idea out on the ice sheet.

Brain wiring tech print seems pretty cool for transhumanist colony. Also I love the theme of this playthrough so far. It reminds me of 'The Thing'. Getting Maniacs dead corpse while out alone of the sheet ice is a deeply unsettling image, not to mention the piglin distress beacon being reminiscent of the Norwegian base being in shambles, amazing theme going on, loving it.

Hey everybody, it's a me, issak again!! Okay first off, Pete you flatterer,😊and second, last episode @Baset asked if there would be more backstory to my artworks, and I'm happy to say yes, there is! I will try to condense some parts of it but this is still gonna be more or less a essay long, so strap in folks this is gonna be a long one. 0 0 Okay so to start, Took realized what an absolute douche he was being to his family with the affair & feeling remorseful & wanting to try to fix his marriage with Swiggs, begged her to give him a second chance. Swiggs still loved the idiot & seeing that he was being sincere, agreed to give him that second chance but on one condition; he had to go to Gobo & break it off face to face, Took agreed. Around this time the raids at Red Chapel were getting more & more dangerous & brutal, Swiggs realized that this place wasn't safe for her children anymore & began to discuss with Kevin about maybe packing up & setting up shop elsewhere. (Light may have been the official leader of the group but Kevin was seen as much more reasonable & personable to discuss such matters.) Kevin, wanting to A: separate Took & Gobo from each other to prevent another "escapade" and B: expand the believers of boyo's influence across the world, agrees to the idea, as he, Maniac, and Vullek had recently discovered the final piece of the archotech map. Swiggs & Took talked it out, and with their children & Vullek go forth as a scouting party to the polar caps in search of transcendence but halfway through they lose communication with Red Chapel & assume the worst. with no choice now they continue on until they find the archotech structure alongside a strange eldritch object, as they set up camp Ellie & Vullek begin to study the strange object to discover its purpose, along the way they attack a raider base for supplies & self preservation & discover to their horror the fate of Gobo, violated, killed, and her body left outside like a scarecrow. The Dog family might have had mixed feelings about her but even Swiggs was angered by what they had done to her & promptly slaughtered them all to the man. As supplies dwindled they were forced to eat the elephants, which definitely didn't do Swiggs any favors mentally, also around this point Ellie & Vullek discover the dark psychic powers that radiate from the obelisk & out of ambition, try to crack its code alongside the archotech structure. Elpis accidentally finds out how to summon said void creatures & nearly dies from it, (pictured here on this episode.) and ever since has attempted numerous times to master the art of the void despite his family's best efforts to stop him. 0 0 So the Dog family is going to be pushed to its limits in this series, Took & Swiggs are in my headcanon either in their forties to early fifty's now, so their not the spring chickens they used to be & i image they have a lot of achy joints & backs, Took is missing both his left leg & pinky from that elephant attack in the last series so he's not as battle ready. (until Pete has access to fabrication of biotic limbs right now he has a "simple" prosthetic leg.) Ellie is in the middle of puberty & i think i speak for everyone here when i say that puberty f****ing sucks so she's got that on her plate, Elpis seems to have a taste for summoning the dark powers & he's only 7 years old so i can't imagine that's healthy for any child of his age. And last but certainly not least they're Swiggs, i've said she's probably the most mentally healthy of the old group but i think that might be changing real soon, her husband is getting older & she worries his body is starting to fail him with all the build up of scars & lost body parts, she's got a daughter that is too smart for her own good at times & in the middle of puberty, and a son who might be on the road to becoming the vessel of the apocalypse if he keeps on summoning demons from hell. she's lost two elephants & had to eat them. (Imagine you had to eat your cat or dog to survive, not pleasant right?) It's cold as cold can get, and to top it off she's wondering if this quest will even be worth it, like what if all this running around the world & the countless death & suffering was all for some crappy computer with a A.I from the 2000's era instead of a reality-warping robo-god that could grant immortality & perfect health? Took & Swiggs are betting EVERYTHING that this archotech map is legit but if it was for nothing? they may have damned their family to a slow, cold death. not something that's fun to think about. whatever the end of this quest is for the group it's been fun watching it happen.

I really like the idea of Elpis growing up to be the crazy doctor of the colony. His passion in medical would work well with it. Also, since he is the one provoking the void every time, especially at his age, it would cause him to grow up with some “strange thoughts”. Later in the season he would be performing all the life-altering surgeries and I think that would make a very interesting character.

You've literally got more spine than I would keeping that spine around for SURE. Good luck keeping that in check! I don't think you're really in a place where you can keep some prisoners alive, much less secure, given your current setup and food supplies/medical resources. But if you've got a trick in mind for it, be interested to see it.

That corpse is bad news. Study it every time it's available to study, don't under any circumstances destroy it. Also, make sure it's not kept next to the cell door - open door reduces containment, and loose revenant is bad revenant.

Good timing, I needed something soothing and interesting to calm me. I'm reacting badly to my new CPAP machine. It's been over a half hour, but I still feel like I'm about to vomit. Edit: Pete research the hell out of that body as quickly and consistently as possible. Otherwise... well, it won't end well. The hazards of Anomaly are best delt with by knowledge.

I do worry that not having an advanced research selected is wasting all that research points, but im not sure if it works that way

in order to accept the prisoners there would need to be a heated area to hold them, this could be the start of bedrooms for the band. gaining a not capable "healer" doesnt seem worth it, but more psycasters ia always good. and on a side note first build the escape route, preferably with as much cargo capacity to transport the spoils as possible, those rock chunks seem to be a great way of increasing the non flammable base if they could be aquired

Yet another excellent episode pete! Can I give you a mod recomendation for "Parka Retexture"? The base game sprite is a bit underwhelming to look at. Also btw, you don't have to fill pit burrows, as they only spawn 1 wave of fleshbeasts and then collapse on their own with time. And take the psylink quest, you'll have time to raid it at some point as raw materials run out

I dont think Kind would fit Elpis here, for the record. Hes a very young child who, at this young age, was taken into an extremely dangerous life or death scenario and was rapidly exposed to great amounts of killing and brutal murder in a harsh environment. Furthermore, he is the one *doing* all the void provocations- perhaps at first he was "made" to do it by the adults who wanted to learn more, but now he perhaps sees it as fun. Interesting even. Perhaps he has taken a keen interest in the strange, twisted meat of the gorehulks and the rotted flesh of the shamblers. Or the strange anatomy of the revenant. In any case, a "passion for medicine" has more interpretations than a simple desire to heal. Especially in the context of the anomaly mod.

Pete, you should make a 1-tile Stockpile for Elpis' charge rifle if he's gonna drop it every single time he does a ritual, seeing it degrading in the snow outside is bothering me lol

I would accept the quest for the neuroformer, but I wouldn't accept the prisoner one. My reasoning for not taking the prisoner quest is the same as my reason for taking the neuroformer instead of another colonist, food. I'm not sure you have the food production to really be taking on extra mouths at this particular point, but another psycaster could be a powerful tool for survival out on the Sea Ice.

The prisoners quest would probably take up to much time and resources to be worth it. The other quest is probably worth doing for either reward. Obviously psi abilities would be great but a new recruit wouldn’t be bad either. Unless u are going to dedicate space for a prison any time soon it might be your best chance to get a new person for awhile.

There should be a peer-reviewed study on whether rimworld hours on steam spike after every Pete Complete video.

If you take the prisoners, you have to feed them, 2 meals a day per 3 prisoners, 90 meals total, is it worth it for a couple of books? the neuroformer is pretty dope, i tend to avoid depressive pawns, later in the game they tend to be a pain, in short, if the game was mine, i'd ignore the prisoners quest, and choose the neuroformer from the second, having said that, what do you think about that? i guess i'll see next episode XD. cheers mate!

Definitely would not like a depressive pawn around no matter their skills, especially in a place where even a steadfast pawn can have frequent breakdowns (on top of being unable to haul.)

Just an fyi: The "live, love, provoke the void" fanart features one of the two main characters of the manga/anime series "Toriko". So I'd suggest at least looking into wether you can sell a product with that character on it without any legal problems.

feeding and medicating prisoners for 15 days sounds crazy, I'd pass on that one. Raiding the camp sounds fun, getting a decent pawn sounds fine, but then again depressive and incapable of dumb labour.
