Hello I'm a technical person myself, and I see you fixing things I just enjoy how professional you are and understand how things work, I can just watch your videos all day,
The rubber feet stretching is an old trick for the seller to know if customer opens the item and can then voids any warranty - use cold air / freeze spray to make rubber shrink - then fit
Sorin, you are right about moden laptops, i have seen quite a few with sio lockup. You made that laptop work for the customer, that's all that matters. I do like the way the io chip sends a code through the keyboard matrix, shame that all modern laptops don't use that idea :-(
In this kind of problem This new generation laptops can be repaired only by removing battery and drain power from mb and replug battery and problem solve. Good video
love your videos. Learnt alot from them. I have on suggestion and it would be to have the model of laptop in the video titles in order to make it easier to find. Thanks for all that you do
Now they are putting the batteries inside - the average user cannot remove the battery to reset this type of software glitch. They have to be torn apart to reset. Most laptops had removable batteries, and trap doors to access hard drives and RAM 10-15 years ago. Now everything is buried under the main cover...and they hide the screws! Thank goodness we have Sorin to show us where they are hidden. :D
I now about the laptop from 7 years age. I did modify it. Put ssd drive in it and max the ram memory. And it never fails and works like a new one. The only thing that was broken is the battery life. So I replaced it. I thank you for the work and I hope you are back soon.
Tips for the next time sir, this is a common problem with ryzen cpu, the s.io frozen because they r very sensitive to voltage and memory stability. Most of the time resetting the cmos and removing all ram sticks work fine.
I hate it when the plastic clips are so strong they just wont let go! Even worse on old retro/vintage laptops as the plastic clips can end up snapping off as over 20+ years the plastic (although remains strong) it does become brittle. The only thing worse than overly strong clips, is hidden screws under the rubber grips as I've yet to find a decent glue that holds it back in place and they're forever coming off a few days/weeks later.
Faulty design like this is a strategy, not a mistake. Luckily there are guys like Sorin, Louis Rossman or the lady from iPad Rehab to sabotage these greedy bastards.^^
Hi Sorin, I had a very similar issue with my Asus NJ750 laptop. The problem comes from the battery. - the problem reappears intermittently as long as the battery is inside. - when the battery is removed, the laptop works perfectly. After dismantling this battery, I finally discovered that of the 6 Li cells inside wad dead. I hope this helps.
21:00 😂😂😂 This is insane.. this is mental... how this can be longer now... 😂😂😂 LMFAO... You know what, your channel become one of my daily visiting thing like fb, insta etc. Nowadays, when watching your video I'm a lil bit confused🤷♂️ about what I'm doing. Am i trying to learn new things or looking for your sarcastic grumble...
28 degrees it's not so bad , this morning I've seen 42 deg, (it was on the sun not in shadow ) and now I'm using a 28 cm external fun to cool down the pc just to see your video
its not a waste of time sorin.........if people watching this video manage to fix their laptop instead of throwing it away..............its well worth it !............... love the way it turned into a comedy video at the end with the rubber strips ! lol..............they streach as you pull them off ! :)
About the rubber that will have an extended length after 1st removal. These must be trimmed !!! Past experience on these in various devices says that they will not stick when you reinstall them, they will go out sooner or later, the best is to - trim - them (cut them to correct length) when reinstalling them, and also optional put some fresh (appropriate) glue, otherwise they will go out. About Laptop in a frozen state ... battery not removable ... can not reset state ... unless you open up the laptop ... Maybe unplugging the charger and then pressing and holding the power button for 15 or 30 seconds, will reset the bios in some laptops without removable battery
@@joshbrazzell8549 Indeed double side tape is safer and better than a glue, because in this case you will want to be able to remove it easy and quickly to access the screws again
Laptop manufacturers should intergrade reset button that can partially disconnect main battery and bios battery at the same time. Perhaps using MOSFET or FET switch or something else.
U have to go into bios and put it back in UEFI mode not legacy mode. when bios is reset it goes back to default setting which is legacy not EFI. The hard drive is formatted as GPT.
hello I watch your videos an there great i appreciate it, I want to ask because im in the middle of learning PC repair, Ive been purchasing all the equipment i need But i need to know do i have to purchase all the types of schematics for each company or will i have the capability of learning the problems once i learn one type of board, it might be stupid question but i don't know not sure i will appreciate you answer an time.thank you
It would be nice if laptops with non-removable batteries like that had a battery disconnect reset pinhole so disassembly wasn't required. Taking out the battery was always part of diagnostics before.
Can u help me with my acer TM p259. When the charger is pluggen, it automatically turns on power indiator is on for 3 seconds and totally shuts down. Wish you could me sound advice what could be wrong. thanks very much sir.
I have been trying to troubleshoot my HP Spectre x360 15-BL012DX to figure out how to fix it. I am getting the 5.3 blink code which is when the "embedded controller timed out" error. Is the embedded controller the same as the super i/o? And yes, I have tried the battery disconnection trick to no avail. It seems to not be power related for what I can tell. Any thoughts?
Sorin, thanks again for all your hard work. What do you do when you crack plastic on a job? I also run into rusted screws that are incredibly stubborn. Any thoughts?
Hi there. I'm new to the channel and find you videos very educating and useful. I was wondering about when you use the hot air. You say you hit it with 500 - 400 degrees. Is this farenheit or celcius? Also when do you worry about thermal shock? Greatest regard Ari
Hi! i have samsung np 300e5a. when i push power button show samsung logo and rebooting and the same. i can't to enter to bios menu. maybe You can help me?
You can remove a capacitor without hot air. A soldering iron will work just fine. You first have to practice on a board to get the hang of it. The same with a hot air station. You have the option with the recomended temperature for that part you are trying to replace (it's very hard to find that if you don't know the part number, producer, etc), or 500 degrees, full air and a quick removal and quick reinstall. Hope this helps. All the best!
Hello sir I am from Philippines and I have a question. I have an ASUS laptop and whenever I plug in the charger it automatically turns on.is it possible that the super io chip is the issue?? ps. I already remove the battery because of this issue. Thank you hope you will notice this soon😊
Sir Sorin , I have spotted laptop shorted to superio , my question is IT8886HE AXS is SAME with the IT8886HE AXA? thank you ! to thus who know about it , please give some advices!.
Not the brightest bulb in the box. I had it figured out about 3 minutes before he did that there were still hidden screws under the other rubber strip.
i was thinking he took the first strip out and undone the screws why dont he looks what is under the secound one. but we cant tell him since this is a recording. I guess it happens when you concentrate to hard how to find screws where they are not.
I guess the hardest part is to open the laptop, not fixing it. I never fixed a Ryzen. In Romania we have mostly Râjnițen...and my Râjnițen Lenovo G570 i7 (flooded 2 times, dropped 100 time) still is better...
please sir showe us your malty miter whenever you test something on the motherboard my english is not so good if i made any mistake forgive me i've learnd a lot things from you thank you
many laptops whatever brand they r, always update de bios first. hp n other brand the comercial model isnt the right for the correct bios version u must c board model n product Number
Sorin...ala il bagi ca pe chederul de la termopane. Este un pic mai lung pentru ca de la caldura se strange.Trebuie 'inghesuit' un pic. Sorin ... you put him in like a double glazing. It is a little longer because it shrinks from the heat. It needs to be 'crowded' a bit. My comment come a little bit later, as usual :)

the update will bring u more performance and security. always use uefi options, always if it's available, not only windows, drivers, logic pattern n order of the sw, users make pc work pretty bad. ahahaha.
I found "HP Notebook PCs - Computer Does Not Start and Emits an LED or Beep Code": support.hp.com/gb-en/document/c01732674. The error code "3 long and 2 short" : "The embedded controller times out waiting for BIOS to return from memory initialization." To solve the issue: re-install the memory. HP was wrong ! Thanks a lot for your videos.
