can you connect the 3 pin (fan ending) to fan slot in motherboard ?

No. The strip requires data-in, which the fan pins doesnt have.

Where on the motherboard do you plug it in though

@confused person you have to have a motherboard with a 5v 3 pin standard header. Usually along the bottom section. Not all boards have this, but it has become pretty common.
