Nice swap, looks clean and sounds great. Although it's not an LS1 as the video is titled. LS1s are a particular aluminum block only engine from the LS Engine family and are found in the C5 Vette, 4th Gen F-body, 4th Gen GTO and various Holden vehicles This has a 5.3 LS Iron Block truck engine which are much cheaper and easier to find at local wrecking yards. Though there are some Alum block 5.3 engines out there they fetch a premium rivaling LS1 territory. The stock heads on all LS engines flow so much better than the old school SBC you can get massive power gains even on a 4.8 liter LS engine with just a Cam swap plus supporting valvetrain. Many parts are interchangeable within the Gen 3 and 4 engine families given the right bore, clearances, machining, etc are spec'd correctly. For instance later Gen 4 5.3 LS engines received the same cylinder heads found on the LS6. All in all for obvious reasons the truck motors are more practical for swaps.

Now that's how a FRS should be built! None of this supercharging the original engine crap, for a measly 300hp. V8 baby!!

An aluminum block (5.3- These can be hard to source., 5.7 or 6.2) would drop roughly 80-lbs off the nose. Combine that with two moderately sized turbos (5557-6262) and this thing would be off the chain on a road course. Great swap, congratulations!!!

Holy fuck that LS sounds absolutely demonic. That shit is my dream man, really been wanting to snag an FRS and that LS swap makes up for just about the only gripe I've got with the vehicle. That's so bomb man, amazing build and it's sick knowing that such a thing is possible.

The LS architecture pound for pound simply can't be beat. These engines can take a beating. My only issue with your build is losing one of the main benefits OF the LS swap...the fuel injection. When I see an LS swap with a carburetor, it reminds me of a time when our TV's were were big, bulky and your channel choices were 2, 6, 8, 23 of sometimes 40 if the weather was right...

That JDM armrest is good for keeping the passengers from using their cup holder. They make a half sized armrest that slides out of the way for people that like their drinks.

Pretty cool. Didn't think as much of the guy when he mentioned his reasoning for the iron block. Since aluminum blocks have proven to handle a lot of power and the car would have better weight distribution. I bet the iron block was just a cost thing, just like going with the ls6 zo6 cam.

Not really a fan of the frs but i like how many options of customization there are for these cars. Wings, rear diffusers, body kits...

most likely spinning mad tires. you have tires with pretty much zero grip. why spend all this money on power and suspension and go fast mods if you cheap out on the one most important piece of the puzzle tires. good brakes? no use with no grip. lots of power? what for, you can't put it down on the ground.

+Craig Reeves The JDM version of the car is a toyota GT86. It was inspired by the original toyota trueno gt86. So even if you had a Subaru BRZ it wouldn't be weird to swap out the emblems for Toyota and make it the JDM designation.

Use the LS7. It weighs a lot less than the boosted iron 5.3 and will easily make 650/650. The aluminum motor displaces heat much faster.

Finally a decent video of a FRS/BRZ/GT86 with an LS swap.

Unless I miss understood. A 5.3 iron block is not really a LS engine. It is the Vortec motor out of a Chevy half ton pick up truck. I don't know why he went with this. Claims because of boost. But still, go less boost on a lighter performance based aluminum engine. Despite that shit, I like the idea of a LS in imports.

please when u break a part in the LS you can pick up the part at any local parts store instead of ordering it online and waiting a few weeks just one of the benefit's of domestic over import.

the aluminum 5.3s are just as good as the iron block ones. thicker cylinder liners than the LS3 or 7
