If you want extra peace of mind before you fly you should perform a range check. Range Check is found in the same area where you bind your receiver (model/RF System). It's one it's at the bottom of the screen and works for a properly setup receiver. When range check is activated, it sets the power to 1/30th it's normal power. In this example the radio started to complain of low RSSI at 165 feet. Multiply 165 feet times 30 and you get roughly 5000 feet. Thus the effective range of where the model would cause a problem was a better part of a mile, and this was a 2.4ghz only receiver!
A quarter of a mile away is around 1300 feet which is about where seeing an RC plane clearly may become difficult. At 1500 feet a plane with a 4' wingspan is very hard to see. Thus, I have a lot of confidence in this setup.
