Frsky xlite pro D16 support and PMU update!

Frsky just added a new firmware update on their website for The X Lite Pro to include a power management unit update to allow external modules to get proper power and to support D16 mode natively using the old accst protocol unfortunately for me D16 still does not work!

I was able to get D-16 receivers to work. I did a bind with the USB flight sim dongle and an XM+. Took a couple tries to get the XM+ bound, but that happened with my QX7 as well.

I got a Xlite pro today. And I updated the firmware which supports d16 successfully by following your steps. I can bind ac900 receiver and r-xsr receiver in d16, and both work ok.

That's good. Many of the early models had a regional incompatability. Basically you buy a fcc version and the fw thinks you have a EU version.

Yes I have the s and was able to bind it on d16 but I had to change the protocol from frsky_d to frsky_x

No. I just followed the directions to remove the spring tension.

Oh it gets better. My contact at frsky confirmed that this is a bug In the. Sounds like this is the first he's heard of it.

I was really hoping to get one of these and put off getting the original X lite in the hope that something like this one came out. But without D8 there's no way I would ever go to any of the latest generation of TXs since I have too many whoop boards that really need D8 to work reliably. Maybe if they fixed the random failsafe from the built-in SPI receivers, I might be interested as long a D16 works as it should, but I'm not holding my breath on that ever happening.

Yea I hope d8 comes to the xlite pro. If they made a xlite with shoulder buttons I would get it insted of the pro. Or like you said they could just get a handle on what's wrong with the frsky_x protocol on the spi recievers.

TweetFPV - Unfortunately, I’m hearing D8 will not be implemented. Which is stupid in my opinion, but I am only a customer so clearly my wants and desires are meaningless... Perhaps that is some Asian Business Philosophy or something worse, but don’t give people what they want, make them settle for less and pay extra for it.

Thanks for your last video. After seeing you last video i purchased these and installed Open Tx Nightly Build N20. I have updated my xLite Pro with the latest update of power management and to Open tx Nightly build. I have one problem with my MPM external module. When I turn on the radio . The red and green light turn on my MPM and some times its stay green. When it shows the red and green then i switch between the models for the change of light. when switching between the model its comes again green. Whats the reason behind for red and green light. I have already update the power management unit

Need to update the bootloader. Only can be done by soldering connections to the FIDI pins and use ARDUINO to load the firmware and bootloader. See github.com/pascallanger/DIY-Multiprotocol-TX-Module/issues/237 Worked for me.

Is there a way to bind the x-lite pro to the new whoops like the modubla6 that uses an internal frsky rx in D8 mode?

Some spi recievers can use d16 mode called frsky_x. But In my experience it's usually very unreliable to use. And range is very poor. I highly recommend the frsky xjt lite moduel with any of the micro quads in d8 mode. [Link]: m.banggood.com/beelink/fuvzxT

I got my x8r to bind to my x lite pro by updating the firmware on the x8r to the latest EU version. Suggest you try that

There has been a fix. You shouldn't have to flash the wrong region fw to either device. Frsky has a Lua script to change the xlite pro isrm from EU to fcc.

Jumper fail... yeah I chose the T16 for a new radio... got it all set up... didn't like the feel of the wheel button from the start... was ready to fly and noticed the wheel button was down inside the radio... it is plastic with a plastic hex pin 1.5mm... broke off and I never got to fly. Bought it for the big screen... so much info on the larger screen layouts the text is still small and hard to read. 50 year old injun eyes here...

I just saw a video on RC Groups that showed the Crossfire module working with the XLite Pro... RU-vidr audio was in Spanish so I didn't understand any of it.. Any update from you actually getting it to work?

I have left the crossfire ecosystem for the R9 system. I wish i would have kept the crossfire for testing purposes. i can not confirm that it work. i would assume that since the R9 and multi protocol modules work the crossfire would but again i can not confirm.

@@TweetFPV Ok.. well here's one that would really piss you off. Just flashed the latest nightly, Crossfire STILL won't power on. Started digging into it, I can get it to power up on EVERY PROTOCOL except CRSF.. WTF???

@@TweetFPV I "Believe" I did that one correctly... That was the non nightly firmware from FrSky in this video. After the firmware update the CRSF option was again not available from external module choices. So, I flashed the latest nightly (06-17) and CRSF was again available. When I select a model and choose CRSF, the module still will not power up. But if I choose any of the other external module choices (SBUS, R9, etc) my Crossfire module powers up just fine. Frustrating!

Not sure why that would be. Hopefully it's just a bug in the nightly build you have.

Im loving the x-lie pro videos man, I really like the feel of the new gimbals and I’ve got the external modules working, but I’m also having issues with the internal module. The power and open tx fw from your video worked for me, but the internal RF would not update. I get the error “FW update error device refused data”. When I look at the module / rx version, nothing is displayed. Anyone seen anything like this?

Yea, if you are set to a model that doesn't have the internal module on you won't see the isrm version.

@@TweetFPV Thanks for the swift reply, sorry it’s the Frsky xlite.My quadcopter binds no problem, motors start. But when I tilt the quad the motors stop I’ve even changed the controller from a inflight success f405 to a mamba 405 and it does the same. All the best.

🤔 I'm going to need more clarification on that one. What do you mean by "tilit the Quad" what do you see in your osd when this happens? Have you check in the betaflight reciever tab that your xlite is moving the appropriate channel like throttle on your radio is moving the throttle channel in bf and pitch on your radio is moving the pitch slider in bf?

@@TweetFPV Hi Yes in bf all good,even before I attempt to fly, even los . I flick the switch for motor activation , no problem until I lift the quad off the floor( props off) move it about the motors stop. I have even changed from a succex f4 to a Mamba f4. Still the same.Thinking of swapping motors, what do you think.?👍All the best.

Too bad that D16 doesn't work. I was considering getting one if it would work with all of my ACCST receivers. Is there still no way to bind with D8? I have a number of those too.

Only with a external multi protocol moduel running nightly firmware.

Mine works and r9m lite did you flash your reciever also once its flashed to access you cant go back to 16 mode

I have flashed everything over to access. I have found that I could flash my r9 system back to accst. I haven't tried to go back to accst on my r-xsr.

Is your R-XSR LBT or FCC? Just saw in the video that you flashed ISRM EU version...

Mine is fcc. There was no option for EU vs lbt on the isrm fw.

@@TweetFPV Check to what region your X-Lite is set in the menu, seems like it will choose automatically the "right" version depending on this setting... ...at least that's what I was told in regards of D16 LBT vs FCC, maybe the same goes for the ISRM update

There was a guy on rcgroups with a similar issue after the update and for some reason his was in LBT mode even though it was labeled as non-LBT, so I thought maybe it was the same with yours. Still need to do the update on mine tho and see how it's working out.

Does your module version show fcc or EU and do you know if you are running fcc or lbt fw on your s6r or s8r? I have a s8r and the xlite pro binds to it without any issues.
