Building wealth and frugality go hand in hand. You cannot hope to amass wealth without limiting your spending to less than what you earn, much less. And if you are frugal, it just makes your earning requirements that much lower.
For myself, I use a huge bag of frugality tricks that are second nature to me by now costing very little time or additional learning to implement. They're pretty simple day to day things that you make yourself. But it's not just 'make it' and be done. There's a method to it in order to do it FAST, and do it WELL.

Gosh, lots of debate on how long you can keep rice in the fridge. Go with what you feel comfortable. 2 days some say, fine. I do around 4.
@SteveWiIIDolt
@SteveWiIIDolt 5 месяцев назад
In some of your other videos you have mentioned health problems, I would not be surprised if this was a contributing factor for you. NHS recommends no more than one day in the fridge for rice. Spore-forming bacteria, such as bacillus cereus, is not killed by the cooking process and will grow even in the fridge. 3 days in the fridge should be the absolute max if you value your health!
@jenduck5520
@jenduck5520 5 месяцев назад
@@SteveWiIIDolt Very fair to raise the NHS advice. I think people should be aware of that. But highly inappropriate to suggest his health issues that you don't have special knowledge of, have anything to do with rice. You're not his doctor.
@vevenaneathna
@vevenaneathna 5 месяцев назад
@@SteveWiIIDolt in medschool we learned that its not so important how long its kept in the fridge but actually how many temperature cycles it goes through. if the rice is left out long enough to come up to room temp, then all of the bacteria gets a jumpstart and then once you put it back in the fridge there is a chance that a bacteria that grows more quickly in wet and cold environments compared to other typically harmless bacteria can outcompete the others and make you sick. then it typically has to come back up to temperature again and then get dried out in the fridge which causes it to create spores. the spores then need to be reheated for a third time in order to activate and become infectious. the amount of time between some of those steps is really sensitive. the thing is, its pretty rare that this bacteria is in the air and can get into rice if its kept covered after cooking. its more of an issue in restaurant kitchens. also its usually pretty difficult for people to link their food poisonings to this bug since its a spore based toxin and the vomiting and GI symptoms are separated by 12-24 hours. most people who test positive will blame the wrong meal lol. the CDC has an entire page on qualities of different bacteria which cause food borne illnesses... its somewhat accurate. you have to be careful with what you take away from gov agencies. for example until recently the CDC used to actually say on their website that dog owners should always wear gloves when petting their dogs because of the risk of campylobacter.... rofl what

Hey man, I just think it's possible that I've never commented on your videos before and wanted to make sure that I at least comment now. I've been watching your videos since before I moved to new york 3 years ago, and they literally are what helped me become financially independent. It makes me happy to see you working on these videos again. I am 27, but, I'm of the belief that all of your content is gold and just hasn't been discovered by many members of my generation. Everything you are saying are things that I think on a DAILY basis now; from making my own coffee to cooking my own food etc. Frugality has changed my life, and I want it to be clear that I take advantage of it by spending when I need to and on things that I truly want and love. I know that's not exactly how you do it, and trust me at this point I am wanting to get a savings/ira/solid investment portfolio, but I really really wanted to stress how much frugality as a concept has completely changed my life and made me entirely independent. If I'm ever having a bad month, it is usually because I wasn't being frugal enough to stay on top of everything. The only other possibility, actually, is low income, or no income, that would cause a bad month. And, I haven't had that problem for a little while. It's actually incredibly simple math and a simple concept, but it has caused me to be so much more financially responsible than I ever was. My credit score literally went up to 690 over the course watching your videos before I moved. It went down in New York, but, honestly, I argue that it was entirely because I wasn't being frugal enough. Anyways man, I just wanted to express thanks, and kinda tell you that you've been a bit of a dad to me financially where no one else in my family was doing that for me, and I'm deeply appreciative of this. It literally directly caused my move to NY and my ability to move to NY, which has also changed my life. Cheers.

My cost of living was $17,613 last year. That's everything. Housing, insurance, utilities, gas, food, everything. I eat every meal at home, I don't drink, and I don't date. I love being naturally frugal. I’ve been studying Japanese language for a year because I love the culture and my discovery into the culture has helped me to become even more frugal. some things I’ve incorporated in my life are being a minimalist for 9 years, I get a ceremonial grade matcha and a decaf green tea from a plant based Japanese lady who created the cold pressed processing of removing the caffeine. I read books like ikigai, and Fumio Sasaki’s goodbye things and hello habits. The food I cook, the clothes I wear are all Japanese inspired. Everything about the way of life seems calm and relaxing and I have no desires to waste money on objects. I’m saving for a trip to Japan but taking my time to learn more of the language because I know it will be rewarding to be able to connect and speak with the locals. ありがとうございます💚🌱🙏

Frugal habits are an interesting exercise. Outside of choosing cheap housing, transportation, and food, these little habits do not add up to much on their own but if you acquire enough of them it will be substantial. Some of them might not be worth the discomfort like not using the ac in the summer. However something that saves me a hassle and lets me learn to be self sufficient like cutting my own hair is appealing and one I would add. It’s a balancing game for sure, of trying to decide if this small amount of money is worth the hassle for each frugal habit. It also depends on the individual. We might not care much about our hair so home hair cutting sounds great but to some people their hair is more difficult to cut and more important to them so it’s worth it to spend that money.

As a kid my mom would wear a sweater and scarf inside the house during the winter and I wondered why (crank up the heat!)….I was a teen wearing shorts and tshirt……I’m 46 now and now I totally understand why…..the older you get, the more sensitive you become….oh yeah, and now you gotta pay the bills. If I was single I would leave the house 62 in the winter and 82 in the summer.

You are my ideal of maximum efficiency. I strive for efficiency but I don't always hit it 100%. I quite often skip things entirely, like "the coffee run", I don't do any of these drinks even at home. Some of my efficiency tricks are time savers vs. frugal tricks. As a woman, I've had my mother cut my hair, but most often I just have my hair professionally cut once a year, the layers grow, it looks nice still. I do maintain a large pantry and this has been a HUGE time saver, and source of relaxation. I never have an emergency grocery run. I never have to run out for anything. I can always get by with what's in the pantry, and just put it on the list until the next time.

Wow, I thought we were strange for pre-cooking and freezing our meal portions. 😬 Glad to be in the Frugal BtB club! We now live almost an hour from any fast food or grocery store. Forces us to plan out our grocery shopping trips about once a month. We grow more perishable stuff like lettuce and tomatoes year round hydroponically. I’ve never eaten better, cheaper or healthier in my life. Frugal doesn’t mean cheap, it usually requires a higher investment up front. Wish I’d learned that in my 20s! 👍💴🤣

I started to do meal preps to avoid take outs and eating out as much as I used to (mostly for health reasons to better control my BP and blood sugar, not to save money). People who are struggling financially should try meal prepping. It works better for some dishes than others. Another tip that’s on the common venm diagram of time minimalism and frugalness and health: don’t cook frozen veggies. Microwaved veggies lose vitamins. Just mix it in already hot soup/rice and wait a few to just have it thaw to room temp. It cools down the food AND thaws. So you don’t gotta wait for the food to cool

I knew the eating out had to stop. I quit cold turkey for 8 weeks it broke the habit.I now eat out when ever I want ,but I really don’t want to very often usually 1 or 2 times a month. I usually go to a little nicer place than fast food when I go out with friends as a treat.I did the same thing with soda ,cold turkey . I have a rule to not buy sodas at the store and I refuse to pay $3 or more for a soda in a restaurant so on the rare occasion I have a soda it is part of a fast food combo.

@beatthebush is it tough to deal with cravings throughout the day?

If you eat enough during meals, there are no cravings at least for me. I don't snack between meals unless my meal accidentally was a bit small.

Being frugal is taking care of what you have. Your teeth for example, eating junk food then not brushing leads to more money spent getting your teeth fixed. When timing your meals, could you add in the time it takes to clean up?

Until he knows what life is like in the north woods, my mans has no idea what frugal really is. In the north woods, all their protein comes from the woods or the lake. vegetables and fruit comes from the garden. All extra food is canned. Firewood or gas tanks for fuel to heat the home. Great for working remote from home and make money you have no where to spend

Time aside, it still costs $5 each. A homemade one is roughly $0.60 per latte.

You should do a “how to cut your own hair” video as it would probably go viral especially if the results are good
