Greetings (again) from Australia! I keep my electricity use to a bare minimum and have very low electricity bills. I also have a few solar panels which keeps my bills to an all time low. How incredibly thoughtful it is of you both to light a candle for someone. Goes to show what lovely souls you are.

Hello dear friend! We have also learnt how to use little to no electricity with all the load shedding we have had here over the years. I LOVE the idea of having solar panels. One day when we have direct access to sun, it's on the bucket list!

What a helpful video. I didn't even know about a digital candle. I will have to check that out. Another good reason not to use regular candles is the fire risk (not that uncommon). I have been using battery-operated led candles and they really look like regular candles. You really touched my heart when you said that you light a candle for someone who is going through a hard time. That is such a thoughtful and kind thing to do. I am so happy that I found your channel. You two are very special people.

Hi Barbara, we didn't even think of the fire risk. Thank you for pointing that out! And we in turn had never heard of battery operated candles until another member of the community pointed it out. After you mentioned it, I had a quick look around our local Amazon site, Takealot. Lo and behold: battery operated candles! If we weren't using the digital ones I would order one right away! 🤣🕯️

Lovely idea. I don't use candles but if I want to use one for mood lighting I think this would be great! I use led rechargeable lamps around the house for lighting. It saves money on electricity, and is very practical I find. I only turn lights or anything on when I need them. Thanks for another great video ladies. Keep them coming! ❤

So glad you like the idea. We're also pretty frugal when it comes to electrical consumption. Our electricity is more expensive the further you get out of town, so we're always switching off lights and using hot water bottles when it's cold. Very chuffed you're enjoying the vids. It feels like they're getting a little easier to make so I'm sure they'll just keep rolling out 😎

@@MostlyMindful Wonderful. I live in Melbourne Australia. I don't use heating or air conditioning, I prefer to dress and live according to the weather. I think you are both looking a lot more relaxed and comfortable doing the videos. Cudos to you! ❤😊

@@helenmcpherson6581 Ooooh, some of my family are downunder but on the other side in Perth 🇦🇺 Not many of our homes here have heating or air conditioning so we pretty much adjust our clothing as you do. Maybe an extra blanket when it gets very cold. Thanks for the compliment about us doing videos. That was why we challenged ourselves to make 2 a week. We figured consistency and practice can only help us get better at this 😎

Definitely bad for the indoor environment! Last year I wiped the inside windows in a room where I burned a lot of candles and the glass left black soot on the cloth!! Yuck when the ones I have are gone then no more-except outdoor citronella ones for the patio to keep off the mosquitoes
@MostlyMindful
@MostlyMindful Месяц назад
Yuck, indeed. That's made us even more determined not to use proper candles again. Citronella is fine outside, as you said! 🙂

👍👍 Many years ago I used to frequent a site where one could actually “light” a digital candle in one of the Orthodox Monasteries on Mount Athos. I was thrilled and enthralled, as this was and IS the closest I will ever come to being on Mount Athos, where Women are prohibited from visiting. I honestly looked forward to this daily ritual. Eventually, however, this site closed down. As long as you have power you’re fine. I don’t know how cost effective they might be, but there are also “flickering” battery powered “candles” that are pleasant to observe and do not diminish air quality - along the line of tea lights but bigger. For those who are true flame enthusiasts, our practice here in Greece is to fill a shallow bowl with vegetable oil and a stable wick. This is by far less expensive than candles. The intention of lighting a candle for those in your thoughts is lovely. 😊 Sending much 💚+💎( 🕯) your way. -V

Aaaah what a lovely way to circumvent an old social norm! Sad that the site closed down. Do they still not allow women there? I'm going to have a look around for the flickering battery-powered candles you mentioned. I have never heard of that and think that could work really well. Thanks for the tip!

I have not used candles for years, except a tea light under a metal resin incense holder (it causes the resin to smoke without using charcoal - I was sceptical but it worked the first time with frankincense resin lumps).
@MostlyMindful

Resin lumps? That's interesting, I will investigate!

Sorry but I love my candles. I dont even like battery candles. It is one of my few luxuries and I won't let it go

That's absolutely fine! All of us have things that we can't give up. We love a certain brand of coffee for instance. Committed Locavores would shudder at the thought 🤣 That's why we called our channel "Mostly" Mindful. Ha ha ha!

no! (sorry, i've not watched this yet...but...) no! do not use digital candles in place of real candles, unless they're at least emitting some deep red and infrared, for healing. an led or led/lcd screen is not a healthy viable replacement. (okay, now that i've had my say after being triggered, i'll go calmly watch, hehe.)
@ros8986
@ros8986 2 месяца назад
Do you object to led lightbulbs?
@siljrath
@siljrath 2 месяца назад
@@ros8986 Depends what for. and which deployed how. The potential for cymatic cromulence in led tech is there, but in practice, not, yet. Any house led lighting I've seen so far has been violently unhealthy. Lumens per watt perhaps not the best metric to solely focus on to make healthy lighting.
