This movie makes you feel like your walking in the shoes of Oscar Grant. Paying homage, great respect. This movie still has a major impact on me to this day. The emotions are organic and the message is too real.

Two fearless brothers living their lives and following their heart. not letting society place them in a box. much respect.

Just by reading that plot I could already gravitiate to the story. Man it seemed like Dre had everything worked out for him. Some people feel the need to face their past in order to find peace with themselves, but whenever you're dealing with gang, violence, drugs and for the most part sociopaths you can't look back. There are other ways of finding peace. Helping others not take the same route for one. A book to film adaptation seems right for this story. You can include every critical detail in book. But it's shocking how his own cousin pulled the trigger. so much for blood is thicker than water.

Corey Pack My God. I assumed these gangs were mostly street gangs killing one another in a confined area. Didn't expect them to cross state lines to seek revenge. Wow!!! Can't wait to read the book.

+Corey Pack +Corey Pack My only issue with the film your proposing is although Andre's story seems really interesting and is heartbreaking, it continues the white saviour trope that we see all the time. I think even though it appears that you have good intentions, a film like that does more harm than help. It further demonizes young black males in these communities as violent animals and puts white people on this pedistole. It makes it seem that as blacks we need the helping hand of white people to save us from our selves and that all alot of people particularly whites will see from this. These white saviour films are a dime a dozen. it would be more interesting and uplifting to see a film where black people assist eachother rather than feeding into the crab in the barrell mentality. Or even a film about self empowerment, where it doesn't require the assitance of outside sources (whites), but the engenuity of community memebers to overcome there cisrcumstances as a untied group/black force. These sort of things do happen, where family memebers feel betrayed by those who they once were close too, passing them by, but it also builds on this stereotype of all black people from the projects having this hate for those with an education or anyone becoming succesful, which is not the case at all. There are people in the hood who value education and want to see there neighbours make it in more ways than just entertainment or through illegal activities. I would really like to hear your feedback on my thoughts, because im 22 and im finishing up my bachelors degree in busines management in Toronto, Canada and im looking to get into the creative media industry from an executive role, and also as an entrpreneur. I'm glad to see your putting the time into this, it's just my thoughts and I'm curious to hear your opinion.

Your book idea is terrible full of stereotypes and ignorance. A white saviour, a black drug dealer and a black male with a white gf. I think you know this is the kind of generic racist trash Hollywood loves to tell. God forbid a positive story about Black achievement be written God forbid a love story featuring a black man and woman be shown.

society is irrelevant, society cant give a shit about every single person, you only see life if youre true to yourself and try to follow your path

Black panther brought me here. Cooglar writing and directing genius. Putting the real video at the beginning of the film turned my stomach and I did not want to watch the film. I watched the film felt the film and loved the Oscar was not perfect but he was going in that direction. Loved all the performance. R I p Oscar Grant. Never met now never will forget you. Stop the genicide of people of colour.

Genocide is an overstatement. Try Syria, Sudan, Somalia, Bosnia. Kurdish people. Sierr Leone, Rawanda.. get a real perspective. There are some choices that lead the black men to challenge the authority and contributed to a negative outcome. I say contributed, not caused. Some of the white officers were 100% at fault for horrifically poor judgement. Huge difference. But important distinction none the less. Not genocide. Lets learn from the past...good and bad. Not try to repeat it. Much love. Numbers of black men that find prison life normal is the real generation killer. How many fatherless babies, headed to recreate street life and warfare. Boyz n the hood? That is not ok. Chicago gun sales and shootings, not okay.
