There is a difference between crop pants and capris. A crop pants should hit below the widest part of your calf. If it does that it is perfectly acceptable and flattering.

I never understand the capri hate- even in the “don’t” pics I like what it looks like! I guess I can see it ages you because you value comfort over style 😂. I usually go dresses or skirts because wide leg pants are usually way to long and I feel make me look like a house

I'm less than 5'4", and many brands do not offer Petite sizes. When they do, there are usually very few choices in size and style. Arm and leg lengths are often too long.

FRUMPY!?!?! I'm a 60 yr old hippy-ish kinda gal - not EVERYONE wants to look like a school teacher or like they're meeting the gals at the COUNTRY CLUB for cucumber sandwiches .... I enjoy a loose T, distressed jeans, lg hoop earrings and some flip flops .... SUPER CUTE I enjoy bright different colors ( I just watched your video about 'QUIET LUXURY) avoiding things that go out of style, hahahaha if I wear it and I enjoy it it is 'IN STYLE'; I don't care what everybody else is doing and I'm not so pretentious to worry about a COLOR being 'last year' that I can't wear it this year, how on Earth can a color go out of style!?!? I like to BREATHE..... RELAX..... ENJOY MOST people don't dress like that for COURT, CHURCH, THE OFFICE any longer, things have relaxed a lot!

At 50 I never really see my style in this kind of video either. I wear skinny jeans with a long fitted A-line tshirt or tunic (sometimes even to the knee) with army boots, Dr Martens and Palladium (French brand of textile high tops and sneakers). I never follow what is "in", never have. I'll wear any color I like, don't care when it was in fashion. I mostly wear black but like to add bright colored tops or accesories to it, like my neon pink Dr Martens with yellow leppard spots 😜 No one has called me old or frumpy, they think I'm 38 years old max. Videos for plus size clothing are almost all very classic clothing or cropped tops and slinky mini dresses. I would love to see someone plus size with a more individual style.

Totally agree. I have serious fears of being frumpy as I age but find “age appropriate” clothing has been TOO OLD for my mindset since my 40s. I don’t try to dress like a teen or compete with 25 yr olds, but my semi-sporty, colorful look always makes people guess my age at 15-20 years younger than I am. I won’t be conforming any time soon!

I 100% disagree on the capris. It's the length you have them and the shoes you wear. I'm 63 and most people cannot believe when I say this and will say I look like I'm in my 40s. I wear capri and tees all the time. I love them and feel I look good in them and no one can tell me different. I'm in western NC and capris are a staple. That's why they keep making them. It's only my opinion and I always tell women and men wear what you feel comfortable in and the confidence will shine through.

I just ordered 5 pair of capris. I order these for casual days. I like the shirts too because it disguises a multitude of tummy issues. I never wear dresses. I never wear heels because of balance issues. BUT I really like this channel. I too live in the foothills of NC

I think women learn what is best for their body after age 40. Most women may go with trends, but classy women know what looks great on their body and how to accessorize. Geographical location and temperature makes a difference in how women dress. Also economic status. Your advice. Is good.

I love what you said about the trends being the seasoning of the outfit. Many other you tubers are so in to the "classic" styles, that they all look like they are wearing a uniform, and no one has a separate personality any more. I've stopped watching some because it is so depressing. There are so many beautiful colors in this world! Why limit yourself to tan, white, black and blue jeans?

A midi skirt has more swing and movement whereas a capris pant does not. Capris usually taper and because they’re split, the visual cut at the middle of the calf becomes unflattering. Also, you can mitigate the length of a midi skirt with heels or a minimal shoe; it’ll enhance the femininity of it. It’s much harder to mitigate with capris. Hope that helps clarify. 😉

I have the pattered sheath dress from Dressbarn.😅 I got it years ago before the store closest to me close shop. Because I'm on the curvier side, it hugs my curves just right and it's so comfortable. When its on a hanger, it's shapeless but when I put it on, it's soo beautiful. I always, always get compliments when I wear it. It's my go-to summer dress when I want to look put together but I feel lazy. 😅 I say don't judge a dress, wear it first because it might look shapeless on a hanger but on you, it would be something else.

I recently discovered your channel & am enjoying the content. I believe that much of your advice is very helpful for plus-sized women. I especially like the more classic styles that you model or show in pictures. There is one style that you often model, however, that I feel is not right, & that is the wide-leg pant. To me it adds pounds & boxes out the figure, as opposed to a straighter, tapered leg. I also would encourage almost any woman to avoid ruffles. Otherwise, I would love to see you modeling more tapered-leg slacks. Thank you,

A lot of prints for plus women are too big for me. I like small prints or ditsy prints. I don't wear my shirts tucked in and I don't own many belts. Kitten heels are me never wearable for me. It's not that they’re not “comfortable,” they are painful.

On the topic of shoes... They cost a little more but Naot offers some nice styles for those of us who need to wear orthopedic type shoes. Definitely worth the investment. I was a model in my younger days and lived in heels and had quite an extensive shoe obsession. Now I have both Rheumatoid arthritis and Osteoarthritis in my knees in addition to other health issues (including shattering all the bones in my right foot). Walking itself has become difficult so I have given away all my wonderful shows and stick with a handful of very comfy and supportive shows. I am still vain enough that I still want the shoes I wear to be pretty. I finally had to toss my Naot's after wearing them almost every single day for 5 years (being on my feet 6-8 hrs a day). This is why I say they are pricey but worth it.

Have you tried Orthofeet sandals or shoes. They saved my sister's life. She was suffering from pain in her feet and nerve pain. She wears the men's sandals in the 4E width and she's benefited from them extensively. She has swelling in her feet due to venous disease. They're on sale from time to time. They're expensive but worth it. They have women's sizes too.

Capri is my warm weather go-to pant length. I won’t be caught in public with shorts on and ankle length is just too much coverage. I try to look at my combination top and bottom and feel it’s balanced, but I guess I’m fooling myself. Your examples of the printed T and colored Capri is basically my whole summer closet. I’ll give another look, because I am aware that my outfit says senior female.

It goes against all the fashion houses to produce something for people that are not model shaped…. They don’t want clothes they produce to sit on someone that maybe overweight, or (gravity) shaped. So no one makes decent clothes for ‘normal’ women’ say with wider hips or bigger busts.

I hear you on the capris, but I've seen you wear dresses that fall to the exact same spot and you were fine with that so what's the difference?

Sure. The difference is that capris are split, so they have a completely different visual effect than a skirt does. A skirt has movement that capris don't. Also, in most cases I mitigate the length of the skirt with my shoes. I either wear a nude shoe, usually a heel; if it's a closed shoe it's pointy toed. Otherwise, I wear a sandal, which exposes my foot. Either of these tactics will elongate the leg. Hope that helps!

Capris are comfy at home but I like dresses in summer. They are cooler to wear. Winter it's leggings to keep me warn. I have nice outside jogging pants and great tops that fit good and for home I go up a size to wear because I want to be really cozy comfy. Even cartoons are nice to wear around the house to relax in. You can mix patterns IF you know how to do it. Not over large ones and can't mix some plaids. I just go for comfort at 75. There are lots of nice ortho shoes and boots out there. You pay for them but they will last you forever. I'm A Dansko, Vionic lady. Biden's around the house and Girls in sandals for summer

For women in warmer climate, I find that FitFlops are a comfortable, literally, "elevated" sandal. I haven't worn heels in a long time, but two weeks ago found wedge sandals by Papillio (Birkenstock) and they are super comfortable. I was shocked that my arthritic feet could manage the wedge heel.

I wear one brand of flip flops , Okabashi. I only buy black . I could run in those flip flops . I wear them out to mow ,hose them down and go to the store. They have a two year warranty and you get 15 precent off a new pair if you send in a old pair. At $25 they are a steal

I'm shaped like an apple. My legs are the skinniest part of my body. I find if I wear a long skirt, or wide leg pants it makes me look bigger. What should I do?

The wide leg pants will do a great job of camouflaging the tummy, especially the side view. You’re just not accustomed to seeing yourself in them. The long skirts? I’d take advantage of having nice legs and stick to something just above the knee, size up to accommodate the tummy. 😉

I've had a double mastectomy without implants. I don't wear prosthetics because they're very uncomfortable. I'm in a 3X and because I'm flat, I'm built like Homer Simpson 😢. I wear a lot of black leggings and high neck (to cover scars) flowy tops. I just kind of wear what fits and covers me.

Are you putting crop pants in the same category as capris? They are longer, and i like where they hit on my leg. I can't imagine myself ever wearing a skirt, so i would like a fashionable summer pant that is shorter.

No, crop pants are a bit longer, they generally hit closer to the ankle which is a very flattering point on the leg. 😉

I have always had a thick extra wide foot with skier's big toe and made the mistake of buying New Balance 873. They ruined my feet for any other shoe. Do you know of any shoes or boots that comes in extra wide all over that would look nice and be comfortable, so I don't suffer heal, shin, knee, hip problems? Oh, by the way, I tried the foot nylons you suggested and they put my feet to sleep because they were too small. They were suppose to fit a women's 7-10 (I am an 8 1/2 EE).

I REEEEAALLLLY struggle with the last point about incorporating trends. I honestly hate trends. I want to look sophisticated and put together. I like timeless, not trendy, and I've struggled with looking frumpy because a lot of clothing considered sophisticated just highlights my size even more. Im a 12 in bottoms and 14 in tops, but wide leg pants looks so terrible on me no matter the waist height. It just adds more volume to me and makes me look manly, especially since my arms are huge. I know I'm all over the place. I just have a ton of complaints about fashion. 😅 Anyway, I loved your clear advice and I think I picked up some important tips I can take into consideration. ❤

In my opinion people who label certain clothing as frumpy are part of the problem when it comes to how plus sized people are viewed. People should wear what they like and what they feel confident in regardless of others opinions. You have one life to live, live it for yourself!

Man, I only recently found your channel, and I do love you and your confidence to wear so many beautiful form fitting stylish looks...HOWEVERRRRRRRRR... Body types are different, sister, and after I watched several of your videos, I actually ordered a ton of clothes online, which all arrived today, and wow, what a frumpy mess I am!! Listen, it doesn't work for everybody, and it sure ain't working for me, that's for sure. First of all, what do you suggest to scrub floors, a dress with tie belt or some flowy trousers??? And then all these dresses with belts and flowing skirts...NO WAY! I look twice my size with that look! I wore a dress like that to church a few weeks ago, and a dear friend said to me, that is not a flattering look for you... It really makes you look heavier. And guess what? She was right. I saw a livestream of the church service and couldn't believe how huge I looked. I think you are so beautiful, but I just can't pull this stuff off... I am wearing my old fashioned, old lady denim cuffed capris and tees. I am a size 18, but hey, we all know what works best for our own body, and with my pear shaped bottom and a recently developed apple body, I am missing a waistline I once had, and there is nowhere to put a belt. Don't make us all feel bad... You do you, and I will continue to follow my own instinct and do me.

Absolutely. You don’t have to do any of what I talk about and you absolutely should do what makes you feel like your authentic self. Styles don’t always align and if wearing cuffed capris and t-shirts makes you feel your best then you be you, boo and rock the eff out of it!

I’m a plus size 18w/1x and although I agree that a lot of the clothes are frumpy florals, I also see clothes in stores like Torrid that are skimpy, revealing and I would never be caught dead in. I’m aware enough about my weight to know that I shouldn’t be wearing items that are completely unflattering in that regard. I’m all for body positivity, but c’mon. Nobody needs to see my 210lbs of T&A hanging out.

I decided to follow tips on plus size clothes. I found I should not wear capris of any length. I feel I look nicer in Bermuda shorts (long inseam) that reach my knees. I also like ankle length pants. Wide leg pants are not for me either.

Exactly! When I was a little girl, I loved how my grandma dressed. She was kind of an 'Aunt Bea' (Andy Griffith Show) type. Yes, she was plump, but she wore nice day dresses, fixed her hair, and always wore a clean apron. The best part was, she was a sweet caring person.

I have one pair of capris that hits about three inches below my knee and would never wear a tee shirt that wasn't tucked in and a belt but, I'm just not a fan (Thank God) of Capris but I also don't wear shorts. Tbh, I have great legs and am not embarrassed of my legs so, my daily go to for casual is Jean skirts that come a couple of inches above my knees or maxi denim skirts (in the Autumn). I'm 5'7", a size 14 or XL. Also, I would never wear moo moo's, nor would I wear a full dress with a belt up high or cut up high, that will make a person look so much bigger than they are. These are just a few of my favorite things. Also, nothing personal, but I don't wear polyester. I can't stand that material against my skin. No offense to anyone. I'm very picky about jewelry and don't wear anything but real gold or silver jewelry. You can get some really nice pieces of gold/silver necklaces, rings, bracelets from Amazon and Etsy. One last thing I wouldn't wear is sleeveless anything. I don't particularly have " flabby" arms but I'm broad shouldered and with wide shoulders, sleeveless doesn't work well with my body type.
