These Frye boots were in bad shape, not just visually also structurally. Heel counter, heel lining, leather full soles, Vibram mini lugs, cleaned the uppers.

OMG, I can't believe what an amazing job you did restoring my favorite boots! You even made the heel look like the original. I've worn them hard, as you can tell, but they look even better than new now. I love the red thread and coloring on the leather. I can't wait to wear them again.

Cutting away the lug sole also gives the stitching protection from getting abraded by the ground. It’s totally an awesome technique and overlooked in way too many factory shoes that don’t even create a channel for the thread (looking at you Red Wing and Wolverine 1000 Mile). Awesome work as always Steve.
@adamfitch965
@adamfitch965 3 года назад
The stitching went through the lugs on these boots originally, and it wore through very quickly. I knew Steve would do it right.

That's one of the nicest and honest boots I have seen refurbed. I understand why people want dress shoes done for extended life but a boot with a quality leather upper can last decades. I have a pair of Dr Martens 8 hole which I have had for over 20 years and had resoled twice and they are brilliant. My only gripe is the last company to resole them used something called a 'leather iron' to try and improve the appearence of the uppers but it also removed a lot of character. Will just have to sepend time putting the creases back.

Ah, I get it!! You restore shoes/boots/leather goods to 'better-than-they-were-originally' not because it's cost-effective necessarily; as many of the items could be purchased again than less than the cost of the refurbishment; rather, the shoe, bags, boots etc have sentimental value to the customer beyond the monetary value placed solely on the material cost of the goods...... Ah, I get it :-) Apologies for all the times in the past I've commented on how much the restoration costs without thinking of the other value attributed to the item. Good video. Tony x

Yes, Armenia was part of the Turkish empire. The Armenian Genocide near the end of that time period, and the modern state of Armenia is only a fraction of the territory historically inhabited by Armenians. Just as the Holocaust destroyed most of Europe's Jewish population, so the Armenian Genocide led to the loss of many historical Armenian lands and communities.
