If you would have told me a year ago that I would be a fan of a youtube chanel about shoe repair, I wouldn't have believed you. Yet here we are! Always super excited when a new video is released!
I have a pair of Frye's my wife , girlfriend at the time, gave me 11 years ago. They are by far my favorite pair of boots I own I wear them almost exclusively in the winter. The soles are almost completely worn down and the felt on the heel is almost gone. I have considered replacing them, but they are so comfortable I have wondered if anyone could repair them. After seeing this, I will be getting in touch with you all.
Wow, this is another excellent repair. The owner is going to be super happy with her boots. You guys are second to none. Thank you for sharing your videos with us.
I live in Comanche Texas and I have soooo many friends who I have grown up with, rode and roped with and out of 100 I can't name you 1 single person, woman or man who wore FRYE Boots.
@7:36 one can see the precise detailed work these guys do. The fact that they show what may well be a 'trade secret' on how not to mess up a toe welt, is absolutely amazing. This tradecraft sharing is exactly what we all need to further the tribal knowledge that drives us all long. Well done guys, and awesome channel.
Honestly I fell like a heel for not saying this earlier but you both have a great sole and keep me in stitches so don’t boot me for this and I’ll shoe my way out. Ps
From the son of a shoe repairman, 👞 I liked what you did for the boots. I myself would have been a shoe repairman myself but my Dad thought I moved to slow, but that is OKAY I learned how to do the job anyway. Learned the leather craft and I have a good hobby. Now I am making a pair of slippers from scratch, using sheepskin and elk leather. I am going to subscribe.
Your channel is mesmerizing and I can hardly stop watching. Love the passion and the quality of your work. I just love the spirit and the down home feeling when I watch you two work!
Well, this is such a great revelation in boot repairs, what a fantastic job you made of what was probably a fairly good make of boot and you made them like new! Thanks for taking us through the stages of the repair, I would only like to ask, was it more financially better to repair than replace as I know shoe repairs can be very expensive and probably that is why in many cases it is cheaper to buy new and that is probably why so many shoe repairers seem to have gone. Thanks for this, so well done.
Beautiful handy work on them lady cowgirl boots!! So sad to see 5.6k views with only 1.5k likes 👍 come on viewers they sure do deserve alot better then that!! Keep it up gentleman!!
First off i love your channel, my grandfather was a cobbler and it reminds me of him. I have very wide feet 5e what good quality all around / work boots would you recommend. Thanks & God bless Matt.
Could someone clue me in, what is the benefit of allowing a pair of boots, I paid about $500-$600 for, deqrade to the point they look terrible and the sole is worn through? Cowboy boots have the mystique of the 'rugged' individualist, yet that doesn't mean unique, recourseful people can't maintain a well kept set of foot wear, none the less.
Loved this video though there was a lot less explaining… what was the black pad you glued on? I am afraid to have my fav cowboy boots resoled as I took my hand made Luccheses into a recommended cobbler. They took twice as long as the ETA ( I hadn’t worn any holes in the soles yet ) I wore them ONCE and they split along the metatarsals! WTF! So my Naconas need a resole. I live in San Francisco where we have a lot of cobblers but I don’t think they get many XX toed cowboy boots!
Very Good for sustainability and circular economy 👍🏼👍🏼. I also wonder how much, approximately, that would cost in regards to a new pair of boots. Would you be able to share this information, for educational purpose?
Would y’all be willing to try my companies CBG infused coffee? Don’t have to advertise. If you like it just add it into the the mix of coffee varieties you use. Coffee on me. 🤷🏼♂️
I was a little surprised you didn't change out the gimming, but I know bread not shoes.😉 P.S. I was a little surprised I recognized there was gimming on the boot in the first place, I've been watching these videos for a long time.
Fellas. I have a brand new pair of Double H cowboy boots. They’re nice and American made. But, the heel arch is way too big and it hurts my foot. I didn’t realize it would be a problem until it was too late. So, now I can’t return them. Question. Are you guys able to reduce the arch on the boot? If so, I would love to send you the boots for repair and hopefully put em in one of your videos. Let me know, please. Thank you.
Hello again guys. No need to discriminate between the genders on the use of "Cowboy" or "Cowgirl" boots when you, and the rest of the world, could simply refer them to as "Western" boots, which are worn by both genders. As usual impressive repair work on these.
Quick question for the experts: I clean my boots every other week with saddle soap, and then slap on a coat of mink oil. Is that too much? Am I harming the leather by cleaning it too often? Thanks guys, great video as always.
I like coffee, especially Javanese and Sumatran coffee. the owner of this boot loves his boot so much that the sole of his boot has been eroded. I like this type of boot, for the coconut garden and durian garden I use it for walking. Where's the coffee ( Kopi mana Kopi) ?
These are WESTERN BOOTS. No need to use outdated terms when it's so easy to do the right thing. It was awkward hearing you call these cowboy and cowgirl boots. You're smarter than that.
I'm so thankful for my local cobbler.... I have saved more than one pair of boots at this point. And by I, I mean my amazing cobbler! The work you all do is awesome you save people a lot of money and you bring stuff back to life. Reduce Recycle Reuse
Gotta say the quality of this video was lacking. Usually love to watch these as they come out. But this was jump cut to jump cut. We didn't see any of the heels being made. The cutting of the soles. Apparently there was a rubber heel places on. More effort put into the really long ad than the rest of the video. It's shame cause I love you content. I'll of course keep watching... but hopefully this is a one off in what are generally awesome videos.
I've got to set up my dad's boots, folks say they can't be repaired. Can I send them to you, they are hard rusted dirty and dry.. they won't be worn again just put up.?
I love it. Yes boots are expensive, more expensive than senakers, but they last forever. Leather boots can be rebuilt almost indefinitely. I feel like good leather boots are a better investment. I have a couple pair of Tony Lamas that are over 20 years old and look and wear great.
meh... that's not a coffee, it's translucid, as a french, a good coffee is black as putin's soul et strong enough to make you hear colours and see sounds, and in enough quantity to drink it at least 15 cups a day ^^
The rubber heel came off my son's fairly new six month old cowboy boots, what kind of contact cement or glue do I use put it back on with? I you don't mind.
At 2:18 of the video, you removed the heel block. There were 5 nails holding it in place that appeared to be nailed in from the inside. Did you remove them completely or just cut them?
love yalls videos first off , but have yall ever thought about doin a shoe resto and getting the customers reaction?? think that would be awesome , love yalls work keep the vids comin!!
Great video! I do have a question: You used a word I had never heard of -- gimming (at least, that is what it sounded like) -- when referring to the place that the threads go to in the toe area of the boot. Have I spelled it correctly? What is the origin of this word? Thanks, and keep up the great work. Peter, Wisconsin
How much does a resole job like that normally cost? I had a set of double H packers that fell apart on me an I spent probably double what they cost at the shoe repair places in my area just for them to fall apart again in a few weeks to a month.
When you showed the camera that the soles had been worn down to the insoles I got a mental image of the owner riding a motorcycle and dragging her feet on the pavement. Yes, I know I am weird. The boots look great now and I hope the owner treats them better in the future.
Reminds me of the time I wanted to send in my Frye boots that were in the same condition until I saw a video where they said to not send in boots in this condition.. oh well I brought them to a local shop instead and they had no problem fixing them up..
If the stitching and welts are also brown, it’s okay to use the brown cream on it. It’ll also provide a bit of conditioning to the welts. If the stitches are white, or another color, I use neutral cream along the edge.
@@TrentonHeath I was wondering about the stitching on the boot itself. I have a pair of black cowboy boots that have white stitching on the toe and shaft. I worried about turning it black if I use black shoe cream on it. Thanks for all of your help and keep up the great work with the videos!
