Add my voice to those saluting this series. Best flight sim instruction I've encountered by far. Other instructors have lots of information but are fairly scattershot and unorganized. This series is sequential, comprehensive and very well organized. I've completed the eighteen Cessna 152 training lessons, as well as the ground school lessons, and intend to move on to the IFR, 172, and G1000 NXI lessons. This series has increased my enjoyment of MSFS2020 exponentially. Thank you for your hard work.

Great series on getting the basics mastered. I’m new to flight sim (XBox) and was frustrated with my progress to-date. Your back to basics step-by-step lessons allowed me to make real progress and understand the fundamentals. Keep up the great content.

Thank you , Chris - glad you enjoy the content. Yes, procedures for the 172 are much the same. As a rule of thumb, bump up most of the airspeeds by about 5 kts. Will be making a 172 check out video, but it might be a while.

Which is actually a pretty accurate representation of how it works on the 152. When you upgrade to planes like the 172 & larger, they typically have nice, dimmable instrument back lighting that is easier to set at a low level that makes it easier to see outside.

I just found your channel today, I am trying to learn the Cessna 152 as if I were a real pilot so I believe these videos will be a major help. Have you tried the JP Logistics Cessna 152? Supposedly it is a much more accurate representation of the Cessna 152 within the Microsoft Flight Simulator Environment.

Glad you're enjoying the channel, and thanks for watching. I have not checked out the mod, but have heard good things about it. In try to orient these tutorials towards "stock" aircraft and avionics, so folks don't have to install mods to be able to use the tutorials (particularly Xbox users, since they can't install mods.) I May check it out when I've finished the private pilot level series.

Hi great training. just note that in order to set the custom view you need to press CTL + ALT and the key number and in order to move for that setting yo need to press the ALT and key number and not as you explained
@AlphaHotelFlightSimulation
@AlphaHotelFlightSimulation 2 года назад
Thanks, Moshe. When I use CTL + ALT + (number) it puts me into instrument views, rather than saving the view. ALT+ (number) saves the view for me, and SHIFT + (number) pulls up the view.

Sir, in the first part of video(third person eye view) of the plane there the instruments displayed around the screen seperately. Can't we get that kind of displays when viewed from cockpit view? great help!!!
@AlphaHotelFlightSimulation
@AlphaHotelFlightSimulation 3 года назад
Vidusha - Having the 3rd person instrument view while in the cockpit/cockpit view is currently not an option in FS2020 - but I agree, it would be a great feature! Would be good for both flying and sightseeing. Hopefully it's something the developers consider adding in the future.

@@AlphaHotelFlightSimulation Thank u for the replay! Is there any other simulator which gives this option? (xplane, prepar 3d.....etc)
@AlphaHotelFlightSimulation
@AlphaHotelFlightSimulation 3 года назад
@@vidushafernando6778 I only have a passing familiarity with X-plane, and have not used prepar 3d, so I'm afraid I don't know if they do or not. In flight simulator X, you could hide all the panels, and get an uncluttered first person view, but you didn't have *any* instruments when you did that.

@AlphaHotelFlightSimulation
@AlphaHotelFlightSimulation 3 года назад
Brad, the only instrument lighting in the 152 is the Dome light ("DOME LT.") It's located at the far left of the row of white light switches, just left of the pitot heat switch

Could someone please advise how to trim in MSFS 2020? I'm using a yoke along with a keyboard (the latter for flaps, throttle). Elevator trim assigned to a hat switch. 1. Should I keep the back pressure on the yoke, trim to what I think is right, then release the yoke? 2. Or should I gradually increase the trim at same time as I gradually release the yoke back pressure? 3. Or should I release the yoke, then trim? 4. Or some other process? I’m probably simply not so good at it in general, but when I try to release yoke pressure and replace it with trim, I inevitably induce climb rate oscillations, accompanied by speed oscillations. I would greatly appreciate tips on how to overcome this. Thank you!
@AlphaHotelFlightSimulation
@AlphaHotelFlightSimulation 3 года назад
Michael, Hold your pitch for the phase of flight you are in (level, climbing, etc.) using elevator control. You want to trim in the direction that you're having to hold the elevator (i.e. if you're holding forward elevator/nose down, you need to trim nose down.) In flight sim, it's probably best to trim to what you think is right, then let go and see what it does, and make adjustments from there. You're initial trim input (say after you level off) may be pretty large, but then you can make smaller corrections from there. Also be aware that necessary trim forces will change with changes in airspeed or configuration (e.g. adding flaps.) As a general rule, as an airplane gains speed it will need more nose down trim, and as it slows you'll need to trim nose up to maintain the same attitude/altitude. As you gain more experience with each aircraft type, you'll learn about how much trim change you need as you transition between different phases of flight.

During level flight my plane constantly banks one side or the other, juust a little bit. I constantly have to correct to stay on course. Is this normal? Doesn't look like an issue with my joystick. Also, this disappears when I enable autorudder.
@AlphaHotelFlightSimulation
@AlphaHotelFlightSimulation 2 года назад
It's normal in the real world - this is the reason autopilots were invented (though I think it's a little overdone in flight sim.) I've noticed the tendency for the airplane to bank is a little more prominent if you've been doing a lot of turns (particularly steep turns) in flight sim. I do recommend using autorudder most of the time in flight sim. Unless you have a real nice set of rudder pedals, rudder control is very finicky in flight sim. The only time I don't recommend using autorudder is if you are dealing with significant crosswinds on takeoff or landing, or the plane's publisher recommends it not be used (e.g. the flybywire A320NX.)
@Duke.Of.Shostka
@Duke.Of.Shostka 2 года назад
@@AlphaHotelFlightSimulation I do have Thrustmaster pedals, had to turn sensitivity down to -80% to be able to stay on the center line (ish). Feels weird to turn autorudder on when I've got pedals, like I'm cheating or something.
@AlphaHotelFlightSimulation
@AlphaHotelFlightSimulation 2 года назад
@@Duke.Of.Shostka, it's just a quirk of flight sims in general. Even with good rudder pedals, it's easy to overdo control inputs. In a real aircraft you would have resistance to rudder inputs because you would have either aerodynamic or hydraulic pressure working against you.
