Most of our thunderbolts have been replaced with 2001's however we do still have one in our downtown Lincoln Nebraska, (Lancaster county.) and they really do sound different. I live in waverly now and we don't have any t-bolts. Just a few 2001 and a lone model 7
Man that thing sounds so good, I love it when a 1000T is set on a higher chopper setting. Wish I could get to hear one in a downtown setting like that too someday!
Carrollton Township, just outside Saginaw, Michigan, had a couple of Thunderbolt 1003's that I heard a couple years back during the summer, but they were finally decommissioned and replaced with Model 508's sometime in the last couple of months. Maybe I'll pay Federal Signal's Michigan representative, West Shore Services, a visit in the future, to see about buying and refurbishing a Thunderbolt from their junkyard to use with Saginaw's 2001's. I'll have to make sure I have the okay from Saginaw County 911 and the Sheriff about using it though...don't want to spook my neighbors.
