Thank you Huddison! At 27:00 you talked about mapping the brakes! I had dried and failed to do so when I got these as a late birthday early Father’s Day gift from my wife and kids. So simple of a fix when you know how!
I also have these pedals and they are by far the closest thing I've seen compatibility wise to GA. I will give you a hint though, when beginning your takeoff roll; heals go to the floor, never on the brakes. The only time my feet are in position for braking is after landing and coming to a stop. OK, maybe a little when taxing until I have rudder control.
There is a feature you missed or at least you didn't discuss. I think it is a great feature that you may like. On the top section (break section)of the pedals in the area of the padlock symbol, in the rear there is a grey lever, when pulled adjusts the pedal from the flatter position to a more vertical one for more realistic GA operations. Love your videos and am buying a set of these as soon as I can partially due to your review. Keep up the good work and happy flying.
I am currently working on my Private Pilot Certificate and using sim work to help me learn and cut down on flight time. It's important that I have high quality peripherals for this task. I already bought the velocity one flight thanks to your review and have been trying to decide on pedals and once again your review sealed the deal. Thanks again for your hard work.
Nice Review Huddison! Looks like a very nice upgrade indeed! I was going to mention the heels to the floor thing, but seems Marty beat me to it! 😎 Here's to many years of enjoyment from these new pedals!!
I bought those and they are extremely good. They are expensive, but the are solid in their construction and they will not move a millimeter on the floor. The function that one can make the distance between the pedals wider, is another smart thing. Myself have no use for it (as for now), but I’ll try to see if I will sit more comfortably if I adjust them. I also bought the Turtle Beach VelocityOne joystick. Another high quality item. I’ve used Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog throttle and joystick since many years. They’re solid and really good quality. But I sold them and when I picked simulators again, the price on those (Warthog stuff) had hit the roof. So I read about Turtle Beach and gave it a try. I would recommend these rudder pedals.
Love the review Huddison, i currently have the v1 yoke and the t flight pedals running through the hotas all running into a xbox via a powered usb hub. but i think these pedals may soon be a new addition to the setup as they seem much better than the t flights. great videos as always mate cheers.
16:20 - heels on the floor when the rudder becomes effective during the takeoff roll. Feet off the brakes while flying and the ball of your foot on the pedal to feel better feedback from the rudder. Also important not to accidentally apply brakes during crosswind landing - heels on the floor.
Thank you for this review. You are a pleasure to listen to for us who have English as our 2nd. or 3rd. language. I have the Thrustmaster TPR pedals, and they are quite good of course, but still, the pedals are a bit different from what I find in the Cessna 172. And since I'm planning to build a second flight simulator, I'm considering the Velocity One rudder pedals. Anyone had a comparison between TPR and this one?
The only thing I've ever noticed that has ever changed TENSION?Pressure on GA Rudder Pedals is a FLAT TIRE og AIR SPEED. There is NO rudder Tension device on G. there is (ON some SC) Rudder Trim. But What the Hell it's a Simulation, Can't get everything right.
When you hook up the rudder pedals, it changes the default LT/RT yoke rudder controls. Out of curiosity, what did you reprogram those yoke controls to? Thanks much for your professional and concise tutorials! 😀
Great video, as always. For me this is a no go. The pedals with the stand set me back 500 euro. I hardly use rudder once in the air. The triggers on the VF1 work fine for that. Somehow, only in steep turns I loose a bit of coordination (the old “kicking the ball” trick in analog cockpits). I remember how pedals felt in the ‘90s when I had some CH stuff. Back then I also used only a little rudder in the air. Never did severe sidewind landings though. So, spending 500 for a better braking experience seems a bit over the top to me.
@@Mayhem6633 I’m considering Thrustmaster TPR, costly but after watching many reviews that’s what I am probably going to get. Will be great for helicopters.
Need some advice: I have the Volairsim cockpit structure and it has an inclined surface for the rudder pedals. Any thoughts whether the pedals should be flat on the floor or inclined? My Logitech pedals - not very good, i know - seem to cause the brakes to be uneven,y applied at times causing landings to be iffy and the problem seems to be exacerbated by the inclination. Just curious before I go to the effort to remove the pedal surface.
I use the Xbox series X, but when I connect my rudder pedals to my velocityone yoke, they are not listed in the “control option menu”. Everything is connected properly, and the rudder is on Xbox mode. What could I have done wrong?
You've done nothing wrong: check under the sensitivities tab on the Flight Yoke and you should see the rudder axis move there, when you use your rudders. They don't show separately in Controls Options on Xbox.
No it works normally in the sim - when I recorded the part about Xbox wiring, I believe my sim was downloading an update, so the SIP wasn't displaying as per norm.
Hi, I’m trying to use these with the flight stick but the usb cable is too big, apart from waiting for them from turtle beach is there any other cables that work ? Trying to find one in Argos/Amazon uk
@@Huddison I’ve actually just ordered that one I got it into my head I needed a split one. It’s bad form selling the kit and then having to wait an indeterminate amount of time for them to deliver one that works
@@Huddison sorted it with that cable, was so happy flying around I forgot to reply. Now I can fly helicopters without hammering my separated shoulder 😂😂😂
Have you been having any issues with the rudder integration with the Yoke/TQ on Xbox? I recently started having control issues with the rudder inputs. Toe brakes were set/saved for L-Axis 13 and 14 and L-Axis 2 for the rudder axis. Things worked OK for a time but now, I'm finding that when I've logged out of MSFS (the "long" way, highlighting the MSFS program, hitting the "hamburger" button and then chosing "quit", as opposed to simply powering the Xbox down with MSFS running) and turning the console off, on the next bootup, those inputs have been forgotten. I see there are a number of other users having the same issue. I've been in contact with TB and have been working with them, sending them a number of detailed "quasi" crash reports. Part of their (possible) solution was uninstalling MSFS and then reinstalling it. I tried that, lost all of my sensitivity settings (but no my custom profiles, lucklily) and the issue still remains. The issue, IMHO (NOT a software engineer by any means!) is that even if you've updated the rudders from V1.0.0 to V1.0.1 and saved that update, after logging off and then back on, things revert back to V1.0.0. TB IS aware of the issue as they put this out; I've tried that several times and problem still exists. And, their solution is a PITB, involving switching cables, doing uploads/downloads, etc. support.turtlebeach.com/s/article/VelocityOne-Rudder-Issues-With-Rudders?language=en_US I've posted to some of the various Discords, etc. I did find a bit of a easier workaround from another user on the MS Flight Simulator forum that seems to consistently work and can forward that to you if you'd like. In the meantime, I've temporarily ditched the rudders and put the rudder/brakes inputs back on the yoke...nice, expensive footrest at the moment...😞
TBH, I've not thoroughly used the rudder pedals on Xbox; mainly on PC (where I've had no issues). There types of issues can often be attributed to MSFS rather than the peripherals and I'm certain TB will release a firmware fix, if that is the case.
@Huddison Yeah, I kinda "queried" TB support as to whether my particular issue was occurring in PC and they said no. So perhaps they hurried the software to integrate with Xbox, etc. I mean, there's a lot of "moving parts" there...Xbox, MSFS AND TB's rudder and software...maybe some documentation will lead to a fix as I know others are having similar issues via Xbox.
I’m having an issue updating my pedals for my Xbox , I’ve updated the yoke on the Xbox but it always says update failed for pedals . I know ppl say use your of, but I have a Mac.
Need to pull the grey tabs behind the top of the pedal to unlock the pedals so they are upright. Then as mrntion your heels realst on the base. Got mine yesterday, love them, though they are extremely senitive arent they.
@@Huddison Im using the ones that were preinstalled, stronger ones I presume. I would have liked more tension as from memory of the piper I had a lession in, they were a lot stiffer
Do you know if the Velocity One Rudder Pedals in their narrowest configuration are the same or wider than the Thrustmaster T Flight Rudder Pedals? I have the T Flight RP's and they only just fit in my cockpit, so I can't really have anything wider. If they are the same width at their narrowest, I think its worth the upgrade. The T Flights are just too inconsistent with their smoothness, as I'm sure you know.
@@doifeellucky I can't work out if you're being funny or you're being serious? I already own the T Flights, and yes I could quite easily look up the Turtle Beach website for the dimensions. Yet I decided to strike up a conversation to be sociable. But you're right. I need to stop being lazy and look it up myself. 🤦♀😁
What the f*ck is Davy Jones doing making RU-vid videos about flight simulator pedals????? Is this the punishment Calypso doled out for your betraying her???? Once, you were a captain and the Devil of the Sea. Now, you play computer games. Not even Jack Sparrow could measure up to this!
