Hey everybody. I made a mistake in saying that we can apply lime after mulching. I am not sure how or why I said that we could, but we unfortunately can't.

I'm very late to the party, but I recently got this game and I love your videos! I do things like this. 1. Lime. 2. Fertalize. 3. Mulch. 4. Plow. 5. Collect Rocks. 6. Seed/Plant. 7. Roll. 8. Fertalize. Unless I run into a bug, I usually get 100% Yield from this.

This is a nice video, helps to solidify the knowledge. I'd be really curious to see some testing with the oilseed cover crop. I know it adds a whole bunch more possible variables, but with seasons it makes a lot of sense. Potentially if you direct drill the oilseed and then direct drill over it, there's zero fertilizer required 😎

So in theory if you direct drill with a seeder/planter that fertilizes, you should have your two stages at that point.

Saw a video where if you plow, you don't get weeds, but if you subsoil, weeds come up. Also if you use a weeder in the first stage, the Einbock ones specifically, you don't lose any yield come harvest time like what happened in your herbicide video.

yep, i notice whenever i plow i don't get any weeds, in real live organic farms plow to minimize weeds too which make it seems fair in game. it also compensate a bit for the time it takes.

Has something to do with workers and the direct drill. If you have to touch up the bits they miss with the drill you don't get the fert stage, you can see this on the map with the fert filter. I have noticed inconsistencies though and could of swore I've had a few instances where I didn't get the fert stage with the direct drill at all drilling into an uncultivated field so I'm not sure everything is working as intended everytime yet.

Great tests! The one thing I'd note about the steps you took to max yield is plowing and herbicide are not needed together. If you plow there's no need for herbicide, so if plowing is needed then you can omit the herbicide. No plow needed, swap in the herbicide step

You are absolutely correct. I hadn't tested weed control separately when I made this video, but agree 100% with you after more recent testing results.

I think it's the subsoiler you need to use for not getting the weeds. But those weeds wont matter anyway, if you plant on that, you're still getting weeds so i don't get why would you herbicide twice per harvest. I guess that's how it goes, i just used subsoiler on a field and forgot to use herbicide. Have to do it tomorrow

Useful video. I play with everything turned on, weeds, stones, lime, and plowing. Nice to see what kind of yields i can expect. I like to get max yields if possible. Many may think a 2.5% is not much, but when you have 4 fields, thats 10% and it adds up. Oh btw I came from Farmer Klein, he mentioned you.

Dude. I read your comment in farmer klein channel. You are wrong. 2.5% yield is 2.5% yield. İts not 10% in 4 fields. Heres why; Without 2.5% bonus, 100 from 1 field. 400 from 4 field right? With 2.5% bonus, 102.5 from 1 field. 410 from 4 field right? 400x2.5% = 10

@@fsrarsln It's just a different way of looking at it...2.5% of 100 is not much compared to 2.5% of 400. So yes it adds up no matter how you look at it. The more fields you have the more the 2.5% is going to count. Then an extra 2.5% over several harvests is even more.

Great video. I am buying FS 22 soon at Black Friday sale or Nov 15 /22 when the next release happens . Has Giants changed anything as do you get a free fertilizer state from a direct seeder and no mulching needed. You were not sure of this in the second part of the video.

Hi, and thanks for all the uploads. Very helpful for a newbie:) Could you do a similar video on the use of of Oilseed radish? Its all so confusing with all the diifferent tools and mods. I'm of course interested in the highest possible yield, but also want to keep time on the field as low as possible. At the same time I want to minimize the cost on machines and tools, both on purchase and maintenance. Realism also play a part.... I dont want to go all in with totally unrealstic mods.

i am guessing the direct drill takes after real life. what happens is the standing stubble its hardly touched and protects the ground from erosion and protects the young plants from the wind and sun yes the sun as much as plants love the sun it is very possible to have to much of it especially when there young.

i play w/ plow, stone, weeds, lime & destruction off. After seeding/planting i roll and make first solid fert. next day/month i fert the second time. It always show that im only getting 100% of yield ....... how do i get above 100 w/out turning other setting on?

Great video 1st how long did it take you to work all this out ? - must of taken many hours - Have you done green houses tests with market prices ? - It could say £ 1.240 but I only get £ 796 or less for one pallet - For example - I know they only need water - Am i missing something or is it s bug?

I have a few questions. If the game doesn’t require plowing and lime every harvest do you still get the 30% boost? Will you get weeds if you use the direct drill and if you do do you lose 10% by using the herbicide?

If you do not need to lime or plow you automatically get the yield boost. That is why you get the boost when they are turned off. Also, I will be taking another look at weeds and herbicide since weeds have changed a bit with the update.

You automatically get the yield bonus for anything turned off.

So rolling after cultivating and before seeding gets you the seedbed stage according to the map but has no effect on yield. But rolling after seeding has no visual stage on the map but gives you a yield bonus? So does that mean Giant have the stages wrong or is it a bug?

I'm not sure which is incorrect. I know I tried both ways and rolling after seeding was the only one that gave the 2.5% boost.

from farming simulator academy [Ground Working 101] Soil & Grass Rollers : Regular rollers are used after sowing, when the field is already cultivated and the seeds are in the soil. With a roller, you condense the soil, and therefore increase its quality to increase the yield.

@@knmaherijayatp8181 I believe the confusion is that Giants also has said that the rollers can push rocks down into the soil to reduce the maintenance on equipment. The question I have seen alot is "Should rolling be done before seeding so that seeders/planters don't become damaged quicker?" I guess a test is needed to determine if rolling before reduces the maintenance needed.

@@Driver53Gaming i never had to deal with stone with shallow cultivator.. you only need to use rock picker once, when you buy a new field. why? because shallow cultivator not dig up any stone. so why using roller before seeding when you are not even had to deal with stone?

@@knmaherijayatp8181 for that type of equipment you are correct, but if players use different equipment they will need to deal with them. A factor in their decision could be weed prevention.

Lime is only needed after 3 harvests. Plowing is only needed if the harvested crop requires plowing after. You can apply fertilizer before lime or plowing but not directly before direct drilling. Don't forget mulching too. Fert can be applied before mulching so that your second fert stage is done when seeding/planting if the equipment allows.

If you plow you won’t get weeds. I know this to be true because I have had 2 harvests now were I plowed the field and never had a single weed. But your saying I should spray anyway for a 20% yield bonus?

I haven't look at how quickly the weeds appear with the different methods of prepping the soil. If you are saying the weeds don't appear then there is no need to spray. But if you only cultivate weed prevention is still needed.

This is the only thing that kind of ruins the realism for me. The crops sell for WAAAAY too much money. I just sold 1400 eggs for a little over $5000. Farmers are lucky to get 1 cent per egg. A full pallet of eggs in game should only sell for $20 max. Same a full 15,000l trailer of wheat should be $300 ish dollars a tonne. So in game measuring $300 per 1,000l, so a 200,000l unrealistic wagon should give $5000 ish dollars... i just unloaded one for $150,000

I really don't get this. Yes, there are several real-world variables that affect crop yield, but only a small fraction of those are simulated in-game. And given some real-world data, the complexity of the logic here is nothing that a first or second-year computer science major couldn't work out in a weekend: _IF x & y & z & ~t, THEN..., ELSE IF...._

This video not only shows how much boost is obtained it shows the proper steps. If you some of these at the wrong time you won't realize the maximum potential yield.

@@Driver53Gaming I understand that sleuths like you are reverse engineering the implemented logic so that us virtual farmers can game the system. But it's the logic itself that seems somewhat broken. And again I fail to see how this could be such a big challenge to get right (or anyhow better) -- there aren't that many permutations. It's like card counting; e.g., mulch = +1, stage-1 fertilizer = +3, weeds = -2, etc.

@@Driver53Gaming Don't get me wrong -- I applaud you (and others) for trying to infer the rules, and for sharing the results with the rest of us. My criticism is aimed a Giants for not making the formula more predictable, as it would be in real life (under favorable environmental conditions, and barring any natural disasters).
