We rebuild a Jeep Wagoneer's engine for our upcoming trip to Moab, UT. Most of the work we did on this FSJ was not filmed as the deadline was rapidly approaching, but I hope you enjoy this Motor Maintenance video anyhow. This is a 1980 Jeep Wagoneer with the AMC 360 engine, we added edelbrock aluminum heads, an aftermarket cam, and a Holley Sniper EFI Carb.

The heads weren't really needed as the AMC dogleg heads have big valves and flow a lot already. A piston change to 9:1 compression and a comp 268h cam along with the efi you installed would really wake the 360 up. I've been building AMC engines for years and the 360 is a workhorse with fantastic performance potential with just a few changes.

Brother, I would love to talk to you more! I have several of these that I need to rebuild and have been trying to find someone with AMC knowledge and experience that can help me figure out what direction to go with it. Where are you located at?

always thought amc 36o had more potential than the dodge .....larger bore ...stronger block. .potential for larger valves....short design pistons..smaller more efficient combustion chambers ...

What rear main seal did you guys use.. i replaced mine with fel pro twice on my 360.. and it still leaks... ... i was told fel pro sucks for the rear main seals

How much more power do you think you picked up by rebuilding and using new heads, manifold, and fuel injection? I have 3 wagoneers and I need to do rebuilds on 2 of the engines and am trying to figure out which way to go

Its had to know for sure we've only used the butt dyno. I'm sure that the heads and intake manifold gave most of the power increase but additionally getting rid of the California smog parts contributed alot as well.

What was that initial leak? About to start mine for the first time after my rebuild in about 2 weeks.

Neither of us can really remember, I'm thinking that it was a rear main and a few others.
