Every camera angle of the final dramatic play as Georgia Tech upset Florida State 22-16 on Lance Austin's 78-yard return after Pat Gamble blocked Robert Aguayo's field goal attempt.
Another great thing about this is, Roberto Aguayo was practically an automatic kicker. He had never missed a kick less than 40 yards or something (but this was a 56-yarder, very difficult). Before the season he was even one of the two seniors FSU brought to the ACC media days. The media asked him about Auburn's famous Kick 6 and Aguayo said "Oh I woulda gone down and tackled him." In this video, we see Aguayo eating his words, with a side serving of Bobby Dodd turf.
Wow. I've been privileged to share some of the greatest moments in Tech History ever since being there when we upset #4 VT, to watching the GAvsGT game last season with 'The Kick and The Pick", and now literally screaming and running throughout my house after experiencing the 'Miracle on Techwood'. Honestly, I've been bummed about this season with all the hype we had going into it, and having the schedule to prove we can compete with some of the best teams, but then all the injuries and losing our backs. But all of that letdown makes this victory THAT much sweeter. I know our time will come eventually. Georgia Tech had a good recruiting class last year, plus Johnson is here to stay for now (which I fully support; I love the eccentricity of our offense). Can't wait for the coming years of Georgia Tech Football! - A Passionate Georgia Tech Fan
So happy to have been in section 109 with my son with another son being in the band. I'll remember this game for the rest of my life and watch this video over and over. Thank you Corey Griffin for the block, great blocking by the team for Lance Austin's incredible run back. Your grandma Louise was indeed looking down on you that night.
What a crazy play. GT might not be having the best season this year, but they'll always have my respect for running such a classic football scheme. If everybody still played on grass, it'd be a different game. Triple Option is a true tactician's playbook. It might look as easy as rock-paper-scissors, but it's more refined and ancient than many realize. I'm a BGSU alum, but Tech is always my favorite ACC team to watch. Go Jackets!
Oh My God! This Maybe My Favorite Highlight Ever! Pat Gamble blocked Robert Aguayo's attempt on a field goal and Lance Austin returned it for a 78-yard Walk Off Touchdown?! Oh, My Goodness! Holy Daniella Monet! This is one of the best moments in College Football History Ever. Good night, Florida State! Lance Austin Saves the Day for Georgia Tech!! Defense Back to Offense Lance Austin Wins It 22-16! The Florida State Seminoles have No One to Blame but Themselves! They Had Everything in Good Shape, Until Then Not Tonight! Lance Austin Takes It to the House and He Gets Mobbed by His Teammates! Unbelievable! You Have Got to Be Freaking Kidding Me! ESPN, Here Comes Your Play of the Year, Tomorrow!
+Danny Grady .....I'm a big baseball fan, but I gotta admit, College football has had the best moments in sports. Genuine enthusiasm.....and let's not forget the cheerleaders.
+Faith Thomas .....This moment in history was memorable, but not as memorable as Auburn's 110yd runback on Alabama's missed field-goal a couple years ago! THAT one is written in stone.
0:21 1:01 2:07 3:09 Inside The 20 YOU GOTTA BE KIDDING ME AND HE SCOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORES HE SCOOOOORES. LANCE AUSTIN. PICKED UP THE BLOCKED KICK. AND RETURNED IT ALL THE WAY TO THE HOUSE IN THE NORTH END ZONE. WE HAD THE MIRACLE ON NORTH AVENUE, THIS IS THE MIRACLE ON TECHWOOD DRIVE. AND THE STUDENTS ARE FLOODING THE FIELD WHAT A ENDING! LETS GO DOWN TO RANDY. I CANT STOP LAUGHING AT THOSE PARTS
Being a FSU fan this shit killed me like i was expecting to atleast end up losing to clemson. I died especially when the commentator said "what a time to be alive" that shit hurt. Aguayo will never be the same
Was watching this on my phone at my cousin's wedding in San Diego, I lost my mind right as the bridesmaids were coming into the reception room. My dad only heard me say "blocked FG" and thought we were going to OT, took him awhile to figure out we had won it, a great day for the family. Hopefully this is the turning point for the season and we can keep our bowl streak going, and build on that for next year. This team has been so close in every game but Clemson and could easily be 6-2 instead of 3-5 it was great to finally see one go our way. Go Jackets! THWg!
The one bright spot in what was otherwise a terrible 3-9 season. I don't think this was one of the greatest GT moments, because we still ended up in last place in ACC Coastal in 2015.
Paul Johnson put the stop sign up. Lance decided otherwise. See you bye CPJ. Hello Jeff Collin's and his other GT coaches and his OC, it will be special. For sure.
@@gooser__43 I am in the did we just hire Bill Lewis again period? I am already over it. GT should be coached by GT people. There are a bunch around right now. Bye, bye Jeff. Bye, bye Mikey P. Sorry I do not know the rest. After them you got GT guys. Choice, Coleman, Burton, Hamilton (again sorry I do not remember them all). Let GT guys coach GT. I could care less if JC is from here. Apparently GT was PJ's dream job. I am tired of losing. I grew up in the 90's when we were good. What changed? I think a bunch of crappy coaches were hired. I am over it.
+Drew Johnston yeah. they didn't kick for the point because even if we missed, FSU wouldn't have time to try and tie. the clock was already up by the time we completed the run.
+Ikenna Xzoije FSU could theoretically block the extra point and run it back, but it would only count for 2 points in that situation and we still would have won 22-18.
+Conner Kocik The scoreboard, the fans, and anyone who is a Georgia Tech Fan will disagree. We fought tooth and nail, yard by yard, foot by foot, inch by bloody inch. Despite all the injuries, despite all the bad bounces, and bad breaks we still found a way to pull off one of the greatest upsets in College Football History. A 2-5 team, with seemingly everything going wrong, did not just take the number 9 and 6-0 team to the wire, but beat them. That is Georgia Tech! That is who we are. Never count us out. We may be down, we may be wounded, we may be out gunned, and out manned. Yet given but half a chance we will find a way. That is Paul Johnson Football! That is Underdog Football! That is Georgia Tech Football!!!!
