There is still more that can be done in this section and if this helps anyone I'll put more videos on about this subject along with some help on ILS landings.
Ask a question or leave a comment. Any tips that you can give me are always welcome.
Thanks

I used to be a flight gear virtual pilot, now I'm starting on FSX and I just want to say THANK YOU for uploading all your videos. They are really really helping me sorting things out as FSX isn't the easiest simulator to start on. So thank you, you're helping a lot, pal.

If I understand what your asking, you can hit the SHFT + 3 keys and bring up the GPS. You can then then hit the FPL button at the bottom center. If there are any waypoints in the flight plan you will see them. Also if there are waypoints just follow the pink line from one waypoint to the other. The lines will be white except for the waypoint you are heading to (pink). Use the upper right buttons to zoom in and out up to a point of 500 miles. I'll do my best to help if this wasn't what you wanted

When ATC gives you a runway look at the ATC window and you will see an option to request a different approach or runway. Click the appropriate number. After the ATC answers just select the runway from the choices available. More than likely they will re-route you with new headings.
@66lwmorgan
@66lwmorgan 12 лет назад
At the top left of the screen you should have a menu bar. If not just right click on the screen then click on "hide menu bar". You should now have your options at the top. Click on flights and then save. A new window appears asking for a flight title and flight description. Call them whatever you want then click ok at the bottom. The next time you load FSX, on the main screen click on "load" and pick the flight you saved. Be sure to pause the flight before you save.

Once you take off you can switch from NAV to GPS and the plane will follow the route or, you can leave the switch on NAV and after contacting ATC they will give you headings to turn to which will put you on the flight plan.

@StarrWhitey When your doing an ILS landing, ATC will turn you pretty much in the right heading. If the radio freq is tuned and set the plane will atuomatically line up with the green arrows on the GPS for a dead center landing.
@66lwmorgan
@66lwmorgan 13 лет назад
@Hewson60 Thats true and the only reason I would make another waypoint is to check my GPS while in AP to see the turns that were being made. Other than that you are correct, I see no need for waypoints. I just wanted to point out that waypoints could be made. Thanks for watching.

Thank you for the nice vid. I wasn't even aware that you can manipulate the route by dragging the line! And I have been using FS for 8 years, lol! Thanks!

After creating your flight plan hit the save button in the middle of the screen. Give it a name, you can also give a description if you like. After it has been save then click the Load button and when that window appears you should see the flight you just planned. You can also save the flight during flight if you like.

You forgot the weather option. Real world weather with 15 minute updates makes for a very realistic flight. You will have to change the altimeter setting during the flight just like in real life. The program gets real weather for your starting position off of the internet and puts it into the simulation. If it is actually raining in St Jo at the moment you will be starting off in the rain. Very cool and very realistic.
@66lwmorgan
@66lwmorgan 13 лет назад
@2011skaterblue I'm assuming you have several different waypoints in your flt plan. Once your airborne find the NAV/GPS button on the dash panel and click on the GPS. Bring up your GPS by hitting SHIFT + 3 and your GPS will appear on the screen. Hit the button at the bottom of the GPS in the center that says FPL. This will bring up all the waypoints, distance to each along with heading. Hope this helps.

Well thank you Sir for that compliment, I certainly appreciate that. I know what you mean about some videos out there. I've done exactly what you said, watched them over and over just to understand what was being said. Almost 62 and need lots of help, lol. Thanks again and be sure to ask any questions you might have.
@66lwmorgan
@66lwmorgan 13 лет назад
@lemonlime287 If you have multiple stopovers, just create and save a series of flight plans and re-file at each airport for the next destination. You can create two or more flight plans for each legs and save them. Load and fly the first leg; then once you have landed and refueled, load and fly the second leg, and so on. When you load the second flight plan, answer "No" when prompted to move your aircraft to the new location. That way, you'll start from where you are currently parked.
@66lwmorgan
@66lwmorgan 13 лет назад
@lemonlime287 I don't think the flight simulator supports that. You must create a separate flight plan for each leg. 1st leg: departure -» stop-over 2nd leg: stop-over -» destination
@66lwmorgan
@66lwmorgan 12 лет назад
@cruiserca69 One more thing, after you click customize you can then click on "Advanced Weather" and there will be more options for you to choose from.
@66lwmorgan
@66lwmorgan 12 лет назад
ATC has you fly around or even past the airport to line up with the runway. You can't click the APP button on until you have established the localizer and picked up the glideslope. You'll know you have picked up the localizer when you hear the beeping sound, usually about 27 to 30 mi out. You will pick up the glideslop around 15 to 20 miles out. Two pink diamonds will appear on the PDF screen, one at the bottom and one on the right (must be above the center line). Check out my later videos .
@66lwmorgan

I have the Gold edition with Accelleration but I would think they would be the same. Yes the weather can be changed to anything you want but to have real world weather you have to have an internet connection. You'll find all the different weather setting under the weather tab then customize.
@66lwmorgan
@66lwmorgan 12 лет назад
@cruiserca69 Ok, here's what you do. Your right, when you click real world weather the customize button is not an option. You have to click the bottom option "User Defined Weather." Now the customize button will be highlighted. From there you have many options on changing the weather setup but it will NOT be real world weather. By changing different settings thats what you get, not the real thing. Waypoints, when the map is visible put your mouse on the red line showing the route.
@66lwmorgan
@66lwmorgan 12 лет назад
@cruiserca69 Your welcome, try a CAT landing. Zero visibility with rain or snow using the ILS Landing. Its fun seeing nothing till you touch down on the runway. It gives you a real perspective of what real pilots deal with, actually kinda scarey
@66lwmorgan

@slrunescape There actually just textures for the FSX default 737-800 aircraft. I went to (simviationdotcom) and typed in the aircraft and name of texture, Delta, AA, TWA etc in the search area and found them that way. There some other places but I find this to be the best one out there. Hope this helps and if you have anymore questions please ask.
@66lwmorgan
@66lwmorgan 11 лет назад
If its a 737-800 its just a texture/livery from simviation-dot-com. You can get free downloads there, textures, scenery and aircraft. Some of the 737-700's are complete freeware aircraft from the same site. There's a butt load of things to get. If you download something be sure to read the "readme" file. This will tell you exactly what to do once its been downloaded.

@13AGAT Unfortunately you can only plan one flight at a time. You will have to plan each stop separately. I've searched everywhere to find a way to do this and so far this is the only way. It would be nice to be able to plan a flight with mutiple stops in between. Thanks for watching.
@66lwmorgan
@66lwmorgan 11 лет назад
Not sure what the problem is. Once the plan is created and you click fly now you should be able to bring up the GPS and click FLT PLN and it will show you the flight plan there.

@cruiserca69 Waypoints After you have created a flight and the map appears put your mouse on the red line, left click the mouse button and HOLD. Now drag the line to where ever you want. After you let go of the mouse button look to the right and you will see what the waypoint is. Hope this helps. Anymore questions please ask.

Hi, I realise this is an old video, but I couldn't help but notice you had a large range of aircraft that I do not find available on my FSX, such as a Chinook, I have the accelerate expansion pack, I was wondering if the Chinook and other extra aircraft came with another expansion pack? Thank you for posting this video, it helped a lot. Cheers

Make sure you have checked the IFR option in the flight plan. Once you get clearance to take off ATC should contact you with new headings etc. Bring up the GPS and click the FPL button at the bottom of the GPS and you will see your Flight Plan. Hope this helped, anymore questions feel free to ask.

@cruiserca69 I thought I mentioned the real weather. Thanks for the reminder. Once your in the real weather settings you can also click on customize and from there change weather from snow to rain, no fog to lots of fog, 0 visibility and about a half a dozen other settings. It gets pretty deep and it is more realistic. Thanks

Bring up the ATC window, the accent key, once ATC tells you what runway to go to and you acknowledge there will be an option to "turn on progressive runway" option 3. When you decide you no longer need the yellow lines just click option 3 again and they will go away. I also have 4 more videos for beginners, not saying your a beginner but they will tell other things that can be done in FSX. Thanks for watching.

You said to select VFR, well sir you selected a jet. Just about any jet must fly IFR. A jet or prop can fly IFR flight plan without landing ILS, IFR just means they are using instrument flight rules only using instruments to judge height, distance, speed, and where in the world they are located. Especially flying a 737 you would not fly VFR, and using a gps. A GPS flight like that would be IFR. Ontop of that if you fly above 18,000 feet, you are automatically filing IFR flight plan

@66lwmorgan
@66lwmorgan 9 лет назад
FH x BlazE You won't hear that part with default FSX aircraft. That might be an option with some payware aircraft. Depending on what aircraft you are in will depend on when V1 and rotate will be called out either by you or the co-pilot. V1 is the speed of which the take off cannot be aborted. If you can find the 2D view, usually by hitting the SHIFT key and 1 key, you will see the little icons on the panel. Hover over each one till you find the kneeboard. Go to the check list, scroll down and you will see all key functions, take off speed, cruise speed, etc etc. This will tell you what you are looking for. Let me know if you still have problems.
