The lyrics of this song are set in a time during the great depression in the 20ties in the US. The original idea was to have Dolly Parton to sing the female part but she declined. Since Gabriel and Bush had been friends for many years and lived close to each other the obvious choice was to get her into the studio and sing the part which she did and thank the lord for that stroke of genius. Kate bush is a musical genius. Check out het album The hounds of love/The ninth Wave which is the pinnacle of her work.

Always loved this, was a big hit in my teens. Both Peter Gabriel and Kate Bush have huge back catalogues and wonderful songs - you can't go wrong reacting to them more. Peter Gabriel's Red Rain is my favourite of his. I have too many favourite Kate Bush songs to list them all, but Hello Earth, Breathing, Running Up That Hill, Experiment IV, Night of the Swallow all rank very high (with about 30 close on their heels!) 😁

They also collaborate on Peter's Games Without Frontiers, although Kate is really just backing on that, albeit very effective.

Some of my favorite Kate Bush songs are: Hello Earth, Experiment IV, And So Is Love, Moments of Pleasure, Running Up that Hill, Cloudbusting, and Wow.

Love this song, and Peter and Kate are both one of a kind. For me the message is that it doesn't matter if your dreams comes true or not, the important thing is to have someone to share your dreams with.

Perhaps Wuthering Heights, Sensual World, Babooshka... or any other requested or preferred ones. Kate's live performances are rather breathtaking also, with all her dancing skills and theatrical talent. It might be quite sensual stuff in nature, but high quality progressive rock as well.
