A good friend of mine and who eventually became my elmer did same job to my 101e back in 93. It took him quite a while to finish. It was the first time he had to change a transformer on a yaesu 101 and he did service many. I recall he had to call Yaesu to get a replacement transformer brand new( at that time internet was on its infancy) the service folks were surprised as it was the first time anybody called asking for one. It did burn because the guy who sold me that radio used it on free bands and he had the wrong fuse installed , tubes were on their way out and it did gave up . Still have that radio!
Nice. They were built to last but with the technology at the time they were also pretty crowded inside. Dig her out of the closet sometimes and let her stretch her legs.
It's kinda hard to tell what you're doing when everything is out of focus. Can't believe it took 2 1/2 hours to change out a transformer. Cheers & 73 from W Rusty Lane K9POW in eastern TN
Give it a try. It is not an easy repair I promise you. As far as the out of focus goes I have improved a little in that regard, I hope. Thanks for watching
I was amused by your very mild epithet. It matched the transformer failure well. I watch Dave Jone (EEVBlog) and others with language that fails to offend me. No apology needed. @@AERVBlog
