AyahuascaSage Yeah, now I just play to enjoy the journey.... no longer cares about the destination.... hoping to reach the elusive end-game only makes us bitter....
Seven years later: in mildest defense of the Federation, dialogue with some rebels implies the Federation was (among other things) attempting to demilitarize and negotiate peace and a number of the rebels refused because they felt useless without a war ton fight. Which might go a long way to explaining why the rebels have a seemingly endless supply of military vessels: they took all the decommissioned Federation war vessels.
I think it is important to point out that the Rebels are xenophobic Human-Supremacists against the inter-species government of the Federation. ... Just sayin' (Hilarious video, though!)
GabrielG.A.B. Fonseca I was under the impression that both the federation and the rebels were almost exclusively human considering the other species don't really seem to care that much. Not even the engi and zoltan
2:12 Not only is that unethical, but it violates the Geneva Convention. By placing an enemy combatant under your control (mind control), you've basically captured him, rendering them a POW (prisoner of war), and effectively harmless, known as "hors de combat", or "outside the fight", but are still forcing them to participate in the conflict against their will. Basically, it's you being given the option to spare their life, and instead choosing to kill them out of personal reasons, turning it from warfare to murder, which I'm not saying war isn't murder, it's just that the international community considers killing someone who is defenseless as double murder, I guess.
Maybe it just makes the enemy want to serve you for a while. Possibly worse than making them a prisoner in their own mind, but as we don't have the technology to do that yet (at least not as easily as in FTL), it probably isn't covered.
+Fluets It's a life or death situation and the enemy soldier is not actually removed from combat. The player does not actually have any option to spare the so-called prisoner of war, partially because they're not actually a prisoner in any real way. Basically, the mind control device is just a weapon. A very useful one.
theuncalledfor That depends on how the mind control works. Is it making the enemy think his other crewmembers, or is the mind control device simply manipulating his body to attack? If it is the latter and he/she is aware of what's happening but can't do anything about it, then he is a prisoner in his own body.
The way I see it, if you manage to beat the final boss and survive then you are the most powerful ship in the galaxy. So there's very little that anyone could do to stop you if you, I don't know, wanted to take down the federation.
well kind of, if you let the rebels catch up then you get hit by a long range attack, that appears to be from a different ship. Hence you can get attacked by multiple at once.
and? The game mechanics don't have a bombardment by hundreds of AS-batteries at once, but it would make sense for that to be a possibility. Similarly it in not possible in the game to "take down the federation", but we are talking about hypotheticals here. Also if you wait a turn a new ship will appear.
yknow thinking about it, if you refuse you basically kill him anyway, but if you accept him the slavers go free. I think it is better to save his life instead of yknow just killing all the slaves on the ship
Oh hey! A video that is perfectly on schedule with no hints at it being late at all! :D Oh gosh this is so true, and has made me want to play FTL again anyways. Even as defeated and frustrated I'll feel afterwards, I still love it xD.
I feel like you don't understand the lore of the game cause YOU ARE THE GOOD guys let me explain *1* it's totally up to you if you want to kill people who are surrendering *2* just because you *buy* a slave does not mean that you are going to keep them as a slave you can free them *3* in the games LORE the rebels believe that humans are above any other alien race......that's kinda evil BTW the this is not hate I really loved this video just thought I would point this out :)
FTL logic: Traverse across a dangerous and unforgiving galaxy with the secret to bringing peace and defeating the enemy, but once you get to the end you are never told what that weakness is and your lowly freighter goes up against the flagship behemoth with no help or backup whatsoever...makes sense to me
...the flagship IS the weakness. Yes, that hulking behemoth of a ship is the weak point of the rebellion. You need to fight it alone in your space-sloop because most of the Federation went up in smoke while you were busy dealing with giant alien spiders.
I used a tactic that involved firing ion blasts at the oxygen room and causing the enemies to die a slow and painful death. I am the hero this galaxy needs.
YourAvarageAussie Meh, people really give the ship ai more credit than it deserves. As long as I have a teleporter, I would rather fight the ai than leave the crew alive. And they have a level 3 medbay or a clonebay anyway, meaning that you can easily leave them with just 1-3 crew members.
yeah, but you need to be a master of patience (and find a worthy sacrafice) to kill the rebel flagship's 2 first stages. you're fucked for the third. just don't do it. please.
The video somehow neglects to mention that the empire is one pathetic ship that barely works, while the rebels are a massive unstoppable force that you're running away from the entire game and struggling to survive their endless attacks. You must have been a REALLY unpopular leader if the revolution managed to gain this much strength while you basically have nothing left.
Th federation is not just a single ship, but the federation was heavily weakened by the rebel fleet, your ship is the only one that survies a massive battle where a lot of freedom ships were destroyed, but you have information wich could destroy the entire rebel fleet, so your misson is to get to sector 8, the last sector controlled by the federation. Also you are not the leader of the federation, you are just the capitan of the ship.
First run I got to the Flagship, made it go stage two then died. Second Run We died at the same time, but the update didn't happen so I lost. Third time I survived.
The closest I can do defeating the flag ship was it was at 1 health in it's final form with shields down I launch a rocket at it, but before I can vanquish the ship a single laser kills me
lol. try being me. i finally got the RFS down to 1 with the engi cruiser *i was within my 4th month of "federation cruiser" grinding*, my missile missed, my cloak almost charged up, but it fucked me up. and i have no friends. and my mother disabled me at a young age. try being me ;-;
"Our 02 system is down? No problem, we'll just put on our space suits...wait, why don't space suits exist any more? Well no problem, we'll just put on an Oxygen Breathing apparatus. Those have been around since the 1970s, surely those still exist, right...oh they don't."
AnvilPro100 It's certainly beatable, although I wish it would change depending on how you've developed your ship, you have loads of ways of playing the game and it always ends the same way :/
I doubt this guy played this game for more than a few hours. Just powering down his shields so he can get video captures of his ships blowing up for a smooth edit, and then moves on to the next game with his lazy-ass editing.
