I never understood why countries went to war with each other before this game. Now...Now I--YOU'RE THE ONE THAT SETTLED THE CITY NEXT TO ME! DON'T TELL ME WHERE TO PUT MY CITIES THAT HAVE BEEN HERE A HUNDRED YEARS BEFORE YOU MET ME!

I had Alexander buy up all the city states... Only way to stop him from a Dip Vic was to wipe him off the map. *So I did.* Took friggin ages, but I managed to knock him out of the game, then I bought the City States myself and became World Leader. My finest hour.

0:58 You built Stonehenge up to 95% progress, took a screenshot, and then swapped production so someone else would steal it. I know because you have more cities than when you started building it, but you had no settlers and that moment. PS.: Yes, I have fun revealing these plots no one cares about.

You know, I always thought it would've been cool if the leader and their background changed as the ages passed. Like having Teddy Roosevelt look and dress like a Sumerian during the first age, a colonial during the exploration age, and a modern politician in the modern age. Sure, it'd be ridiculous, but cool nonetheless.

The AI gets such an unfair advantage in this game. I was playing last night on an Earth map with true start locations as America. Even though I didn't pick them to be in the game, the damn Shoshone was in my game. Within about ten turns, I had established three cities. Washington D.C., Guantanamo, and my other city on the west coast that I didn't really care about. To try and establish a city connection, I built a road between washington and the city on the opposite coast. Pocatello gets pissed at me for settling that city about ten tiles from his capital and asks me to stop. I comply. Then after I build the road between said city and washington, he settles another damn city on top of the road. Then he settles outside washington. I ask him to stop. He says "No" So within these ten or so turns, I find out that he not only somehow managed to get a formidable military built up, but he has eleven cities that are already somehow expanding their borders like crazy. The final straw was stealing technology from me. So I nuked him. The end.

I loved how one game, me and my first friend empire ,Siam, teamed up for so long, we almost took half of Alexander's cities. But when Alexander declares war on me a second time, Siam joins him... What the actual fuck? (Then later after that, Siam declares war on Alexander...)

My friend wanted to play for cultural victory. Game started about 1600 and ended 6 in the morning. I cheesed a win with Venice. just before voting for world leader i bought up all the city states. That amazing yelp sound he made when i bought up all city states one after one made it all worth it. For some odd reason the ai went crazy at this moment and declared all out war against me....

One of my greatest experiences in Civ V: Me: "Everyone hates China, so I'll denounce them to get some heat off my warmonger penalties" Gets denounced and declared war by at least 5 different civs, all of them enemies of china

Brute force with no lube, that's Civilization V in a nutshell!

That ghandi flash... xD But the reason he becomes so aggressive is because of a coding fault. (initially) Ghandi was the most peaceful leader among all, and was at his lowest automatically, being aggression level 0. But basically when you enter the modern era, everyone gets a little bit less aggressive. Ghandi being at 0 already became even less aggressive. Negative aggressive. ... So when he got to -1, he automatically leveled up to the highest aggression level (it's how programming works, don't ask why. It just does). The developers thought it was so funny that they actually left it in the game. And so came to be, ghandi, the pacifist nuclear warmonger. ^^

Am I the only one who always gets a culture vic by accident?

I'm a game I'm playing as Japan, I started out peaceful and everyone loved me (except England, because the city states liked me more) then Napoleon declared war on me. I responded with force and within a few turns took one of his cities. He tried asking for peace but had nothing worth it to me. So I proceeded to consume his entire civilization into a serious anime addiction and still maintained one of the happiest civilizations in the game (after a bit of rebuilding anyway). Well everyone began accusing me of being blood thirsty and war mongerer. So that's exactly what I became. So currently I have the English surrounded and down to only London left in their civilization. Japan is super fun to play as, their army is nearly unstoppable with their special ability. Looks like it's time to conquer the world and prove once and for all that ANIME IS THE SUPERIOR ANIMATION STYLE!!!! MUHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

1 Start as Gandi 2 now you can take cities with elephants 3 squeez a city between 3 other superpowers and take them one at a time befriending some and war mongering with others keeping them isolated. 4 take them down one by one 4.5 always start a war with enough troops to take down 2 empires 5 now you have a modern army while the most impressive thing they have by the end is a cannon

this is so hilariously accurate. On my first playthrough, I had various countries asking for a declaration of friendship. I accepted. Then Japan (a longstanding ally) asked to join him in on a war, which I did. Other nations then denounced me, INCLUDING JAPAN, then they went to war.. against me.. I held out until peace treaties were offered, and Japan (who had attacked me as well) immediately liked me again and wanted another declaration of friendship. That was a very early lesson of "Fuck the AI, never trust them".

Well... this is what online play is like. You dominate, or get dominated. Until then, it's a race to the first nukes. Against AIs, it's relaxingly easy. Get whatever kind of victory you want, the AI is terrible at managing its money and production.

Though it was funny, its not at all how the actual game works. Only if you have no clue why things happen the way they do in this game then yes this movie is accurate, but the fault is yours and not the game. Played hundreds of hours, done every single difficulty and every single win possible ten times over ... and never lost a match, heck, never lost a city (not counting fresh captured cities that get recaptured next turn). To give one example why, your warmongering IS warmongering, you did not bother to build relations first you just went out to annihilate, so yes you are a warmonger. If you just started with the game agreed this will look confusing, but its easy to avoid ... you need good relations with others, make them hate the one you want to destroy and they will stay your best friends. Enemy of my enemy is my friend and all that, to make it more simple, 3 green goes over 1 red and 3 green is EASY to get.
