Man, I hardly ever play this game anymore but I always get the soundtrack stuck in my head, and listen to it while I do deskwork. Great job to those who made it. P.S. I love the mixing. The back and forth between the battle and peacetime is what made the music so great in the game! It ebbs and flows with the world around me when I listen just walkin' around.
FTL soundtrack entered my head this week for reasons known only to my brain. Not that I'm complaining! And love these remixes. Fired up the game to get the OG feels around the music but was taken aback by how functional the graphics are! Fantastic gameplay, music and game design, but such simple visuals. Marketing gurus say your game must look amazing to stand out in 2024, which is slowing my game's production but I wonder if I could play an FTL card :)
Thanks for enjoying! Pulling an FTL card nowadays is certainly a lot harder, since the market is a lot more saturated, but I guess it's not impossible, Vampire Survivors comes to mind. I tried that with my game Technocide and it didn't do that well (yet... one can always hope). You would probably just need a ridiculously strong hook, or be absolutely immaculate in every other respect.. which also takes a lot of time.
wdym? The individual tracks labeled "mixed" transition between the "explore" and "battle" versions. I picked my favorite parts of both and made it into a single listening experience which I think is better than just listening to the separate tracks. There was also a fun trick I did at 25:17 where I combined the two in reverse phase so it canceled out a melody they had in common, only combining the parts that were different. Also the start of "Civil" 6:40 I think combining the explore and battle tracks together sounds cool.
Just goes to show how good the trabsitions from explore and battle versions were in-game. This mix essentially uses calm parts from explore versions and epic parts from battle versions. The mix makes you feel like you're going from explore into battle.
