@@NefariousPorpoise Missy is not better than MC Lyte or Queen Latifah sorry. she nice and can sing just like Lauren but definitely not the top female mc sorry.
Lauren Hill is a legend in her own right. The Miseducation of Lauren Hill album is still a must have. I still remember when she was a contestant on The Apollo in the 90s, she got booed. She showed them.
"Lost Ones" from Lauryn Hill...It's her taking shots at Wyclef after the fall out... Lauryn Hill is probably the top female lyricist of all time and it shows in that song...
@@abshir9677 it terms of the mainstrean image of the fugees, it was all about Lauryn Hill. Wyclef was just a hype man/ back up singer. But in terms of business strategy, wyclef and pras were just as important as Lauryn Hill.
@@cearly1696 no, actually. it was Pras and Lauryn's idea to sing "killing me softly" and it was Lauryn Hill who choose the hook of "ready or not" (at this time she was planning to leave the group) These were the fugees' two biggest hits. wyclef is technically skilled at making beats and performing music but lauryn hill has better musical and lyrical ideas than he does. Pras is the business and marketing person.
No no, she has a point. They are regarded as one of the best 90s groups. Maaaaybe one of the best rap groups of all time but I never hear people put them in their top tier list.
Aww mannn, i wish yall watched the video for this one. One of my favorite music videos. But Im so glad you did this one...this song gave me so much life as a youngster
The song FUGEE LA was actually a song taking direct shots at their critics. The album the score was their second album. Their first album drew a lot of criticism. So the Fugees went back into the studio worked even harder than before and now the score is considered a classic and it made every one of the haters shut up. And broke many records.
You're absolutely correct to point out that Lauryn Hill is awesome. She has a fabulous voice, both for rapping ang singing, she has incredibly astute lyrics, she is a superb songwriter, and she has an incredibly strong personality. One of a kind, and a massive shame that we didn't get 5-10 great albums from her.
Somehow yt brought me here and I love seeing ppl who don't normally listen to certain types of music open themself to hearing and understanding it. I hope you enjoy.
Love your reaction, but I am starting to notice a pattern . In Keeping with the classic Spirit please React to some of these classic * Mos def ft slick Rick - Auditorium *Little brother - After the Party
@metalhead..... the Fugees are definitely revered... You may have to put on some headphones this song has a very low in base for when you played on a good system you can hear it before someone even pulls up... the Fugees even though they only had maybe one or two albums are still put up there with A Tribe Called Quest De La Soul digable planets Etc
We're with you Laura You know all you have to do is call we will come running to you always and forever from the beginning to the end very one of us I love You Lauren and so does everybody else hold you have to do is just pray we will come running to you surrounded and fire and safe everything that away from you all you have to do is call You are one of us You always have been You know who you are if you don't I'll tell you pretty sure you do
@metalheadreactions Listen to this song with headphones on, it will change your perspective. Unfortunately they way you listened you can not hear the bass.
Erykah Badu if you want more hip hop. And if you really want to se the beauty of hiphop then listen to "love of my life" ft Common- it's a must listen. And watch the real video and you'll understand the lyrics!!!
Not the biggest Fugee's fan but this album was great. Hip-Hop from the 80's, 90's and newer modern underground Hip-Hop that has the same sound as 90's Hip-Hop should be heard through a good pair of headphones or stereo system. All those baselines, drums and shit are so important. Unlike today "rap" music, DJ's and producers from that era took time to create beats specially built around an artist's rhymes, so just hearing someone rap is fine, but you're missing the complete package in my opinion.
It's all good guys... It's all fun... Learning experience.... but what you should do next is..... The miseducation of Lauryn Hill..... Which was her solo debut... The single.... Lost Ones was where she took shots at Wyclef Jean okay...@ Metalhead
And YES The Fugees are considered legends!!!!!! One album doesnt matter its the content within it. Notorious B.I.G only had 2 albums when he was alive and is considered one of the 2 greatest rappers of all time!! Technically, he came out with 1 while he was alive cause "Life after Death" came out right after he was killed but it was already finished. Yall have to learn the rules of hip hop lol
This is one that woulda been better with the official video because looking at a young Lauryn shine on screen was very dope. I appreciate you 2 making the effort to pay attention to the lyrics though. And yes Ryan, her verse was absolutely standout on this track
Lauren hill the female in this song was such an underrated lyricist. This album was classic check out ready or not. And they also have great music videos
It's funny how the pop audience listens to fugees or Wyclef and never really connect the song with the refugee theme. Those aren't random lyrics /words. If Wyclef isn't one of the greats then why did he write/produce for so many people
I didn’t like this song when it came out but when I heard Dr Dre on bet doing a countdown of his favorite songs of that year he had it # 1 so I said what am I missing here then I played it on some 15 inch subs I got it the production is crazy

I like watching straight laced white people react to classics like this then seeing them want to see and hear more. If your not familiar with the genre, every song you discover is like a shot of heroine
You guys react to boring ass music like the only music known by the population . React to less requested video those are probably better . example: These people only listen to Tupac - dear mama , keep your head up , American gangster , and a couple others . They don't know about the deeper 2 pac - broken wings , to my unborn child , when we ride , Krazy , and many more .. population only listens to the burned out songs smh they're ok songs but it's deeper than that
I only listen to like 4 songs of them as far as the group goes. I listen to like 6 or 7 songs from Wyclef's solo albums and like 4 or 5 of Lauren Hill's solo album.
