Anyone else notice that the majority of time they’re playing Ruben is locked in on Eddie. With the benefit of hindsight it’s very easy to see the two of them had a kinship and they were drifting away from the band, but very much so a special two person unit. But it’s definitely half the band on the right side of the screen and the other half on the left.
Man! This is fucking great! Fu Manchu in their prime. The entire band is ON. Killer versions of "Regal Beagle", "Red Line" and "Asphalt Risin'". Thanks c7email!
Thank you so much for the upload. They are my favourite band and I saw them 6 times allready. Wish I could have been to one of the early Shows. Bob and Scott are fantastic but Eddie and Ruben are so groovy. those old songs don´t sound as rad as they did back then.
Also want to throw out there how watching Ruben Romano play the drums never fails to completely enthrall me. You really need to see him play live to understand just how great the guy is, the records just don’t do it justice.
Justin Vavala: Had the chance to open up for Nebula many years ago and what you say is true. Ruben plays with a ton of soul and swing, which is something sorely lacking amongst drummers today. Ruben was a huge influence on my own playing, among many others.
It looks like a 61/62 SG Standard. Now, whether or not it's an original, I have no clue. Gibson has been reissuing this particular model for a number of years. I agree it's a great camera angle. Eddie and Ruben are tearing it up!
Hill/Brad don't even look at Eddie/Ruben the whole show. I remember hearing the split was "acrimonious," but then I doubted it the first time I saw Nebula (in 2000) and wore a Fu shirt; Eddie said it was cool and that "we're all family." But now I'm like, weird that they act like two separate bands playing together here. PS I think Kyuss might have been on the bill at this show.
