GF lens looks better to me, but both are producing great results. Really enjoying the detailed comparisons you do.

thanks for going through both lenses and showing us the difference...love the photos too! I heard you mention Phil Sharp, he is one of my favs...for his GFX set up he uses 85 and 55 Otus lens and 63 and 110 G lens...he has a class on a site called domestika where he talks about his gear and how he shoots (my bad, if you already knew :D). I have a mamiya 645 80 1.9 lens that i want to adapt once i get a gfx.

Thank you! Yes he’s incredible! Manual focus just slows me down even more. I’ve thought about it a lot after following him in Flickr, just real depth to his shots!
@dardis1745
@dardis1745 2 года назад
@@SNAPAVELI yeah the depth is crazy and his lighting is stupid crazy!! for the gfx i would add i think the way the lens behave is based on the body as is gfx 100s having phase detect and the gfx 50s ii have contrast detect...i saw a comparison on with a fringer adapter and the difference was huge...

The problem with the GFX medium format is that the images tend to look too clinical. Tons of resolution, tons of dynamic range, perfect technically, but…. you have to do a Heavy post processing in order to feel something. I have the GFX 100s and I find myself liking more the files from my Nikon d700, Nikon d4, canon 5D, etc. Now, using vintage glass with the GFX things get a bit better tho… My 2 cents
@SNAPAVELI
@SNAPAVELI Год назад
I can understand that! Some people I’ve seen use pro mist filters to get around that too
@FastAkira
@FastAkira Год назад
@@SNAPAVELI I have one of those filters.. arguably the best one. What you get is “softer” highlights and a less crisp image. Which yes, helps a little. But you don’t get that character , those colours and tones , etc. from my point of view… something is still missing. But for serious portrait work, magazines , products etc , of course the GFX is still a beast.

I use the 85 1.2 on GFX it’s great but the AF speed and inconsistency is just absurd at time. Looks great, but CA is very high. I wanna sell it for the 110 eventually, but it’s still great.
@SNAPAVELI

Yes I agree, I had my ef 85 1.2 lii on the adapter and it was basically impossible to use. Manual was easier I thought

The EF 85mm 1.2 II was a bad performer even on a Canon 1DX mkII, that's why I sold it after testing the EF 85mm 1.4 IS. The 1D series is kind of a benchmark for Canon lenses as of AF speed and accuracy.

Hi. I use the Canon 85mm EF f1.8 with Fringer adapter ( bc I’m very old school and like f stops on lens). I bought the Fuji f1.7 80mm and compared it. The EF 85mm seems sharper to me. It does vignette some but I shot mostly 1x1 with it so no vignette at all. It focus as faster or faster; than gf 80 f1.7, is about 500 grams lighter with the adapter and costs $329 used and $499 new at B&H. I would be very interested in your take on this lens. The Fuji 80mm gf new at b&h is $2300. I have mostly gf lenses after using a lot of adapted Pentax 645. The Pentaxes are good but the GF lenses are just plain better. If I were a better photographer maybe it wouldn’t matter but being only part time I rely on gear more than talent. Trying to move out of that place but it takes time. Love your channel. Great great pics.

Thank you!! I’d say if your happy with the 85 1.8 adapted stick with it!! The 80 1.7 is so frustrating! It looks great to me but I really hate how slow it is. I’ve thought of selling it a few times but then I use it and love a few shots….. I’d say save your money and keep your set up

Great video brother. When I first got my GFX, I still had fast Nikon and Cannon primes. Although adapted offer a super fun, artistic and somewhat inexpensive alternative to GFX lens, the native Fuji GF glass in my use case and opinion offer a more consistent and therefore usable option. The main issue I have with adapted glass is true sensor coverage. The sensor is not the same or even close enough to not have vignette issues that require cropping to truly fix unless this is an artistic choice. The rendering due to failure to resolve the 102 mp make for multiple errors in rendering which you won't see when using the glass matched to purpose designated sensors. Resolving power is not absolute, it is in tolerance. What is good "enough " is the users choice. That crunchy diffusion and transition etc are details you will see as well as the amplification of the effects of lens elements rendering swirls are other errors that even expensive leica lens will display when problems are displayed. The image circles expected to cover the smaller sensor world normally crop the worst by design. The GF 55 1.7 (45mm equivalent ). Should give another option to people who like low light (or shallow obliterated context).

@@SNAPAVELI Yes, although Fujifilm catches since shade from hobbiest photographers for not having budget conscious lens options, I also hope they so NOT compromise and stay the path of quality rather than quantity. I took my time and now have amassed the lenses I like including the workhorse 45-100. I used it and found it to be a sharper zoom than flagship full frame primes!! I love my 110 and 23mm but will rid my self of my 63mm in place of the 55 as the assignments that I can't use the 110 or 23 can be achieved with the 45-100 and the 55 would scratch any artistic or walk around lens itch I care to photographically scratch. The 63 is a gritty lens that while fantastic, has more contrast than I like and falls far short of the splendour captured with the 110.

Just found your channel and I must say you are doing a really good job. Nice pictures and informative videos. I just bought a used gfx 50s and was thinking of starting with adapter for Nikon. I usually use the D850 and Z6II. Difficult to decide which Gf lens to start with. They cost a penny so it would feel good to choose the right one right away. Shoot a lot of portraits so I've been thinking about the Gf 110 but got the urge for the 45mm after watching your video. A cheaper start too. But it will be adapted lenses first to try the camera. Got the camera body but no adapter yet so can't test it, frustrating 😊

Hi Marcus. I have bought GFX-100s, and still have some lenses from my film era: Contax (C/Y) with Jubilee 85/1.2 CZ lens and I have Rollei 6000 mount 180/f2. I would really like to use them either with my Canon R5 or GFX 100s. What is your recommendation for adapters. It seems to me that I should go first to EF adapters (C/Y->EF & R600->EF) then from that to GFX. For R5 I already have EF/R adapter. Your thoughts, please.
