Hey Matti, it is cool when you talk to Peter in Finnish! Anyway, when I saw the title, I thought this would be a pixel-peeping comparison, lol. Anyway, I was really surprised that the Fuji XS20 autofocus struggles compared to the Sony A6700, even under the same lighting conditions and environment.

I will steal this comment to share some of my experience with Fuji. I switched from X-T5 which has really poor AF and quality build materials. The bottom plate got scratched within 2 months of use. Now I am happy A6700 user and this camera feels like an upgrade to Fuji. I also sold X-H2s due to poor AF performance. I miss the codecs and bitrates for video but in the end need one ecosystem so can interchange the lenses. I also own A7 IV so I wonder why I didn't switch earlier.

I turned on the subtitles and set it to auto-translate to English but it didn't even try to do so. RU-vid doesn't understand Finnish ☹

@@caw25sha Spoken everyday Finnish is slightly different from the written official Finnish and can be hard for any auto translator. I and Peter also use some slang words that are probably weird for RU-vid😀

Hi Matti, it was a nice chat and walk around with Peter. I agree with Peter about Lenses being Black, it's such a classic colour for camera's. I'm not much of a Videographer, mostly i video my Neices and places i haven't been to. Your right about Third party Lenses Matti, they have improved and have come a long way. Especially the Auto Focus, struggling to Focus on a subject. Nice one Matti thank you. 😊

There have been excellent Japanese third party lenses for decades: Sigma, Tokina etc., but the newer very cheap Chinese lenses that have come along over the past few years haven't always got a good reputation, even allowing for the very low prices. I get the impression from videos like this that they are improving though.

Interesting comparison. The shallow depth of field and low light performance are advantages. Glad to see third party options, maybe in the future the camera manufacturers allow IS sync just as they are now allowing auto focus. Enjoyable photo walk as always.

Thanks. These budget manufacturers don't even have OIS in their lenses and no AF zooms either so far. Maybe in the future.

I agree, 56 mm is too long for street photography. This lens invites you to night shooting.

Nice video guys. I am really wondering about the Fuji autofocus whether it got worse with the new firmwares. When I was in India last winter using a copy of the X-S20 it had no issues at all really, even in difficult lighting conditions. For example I shot portraits of people on the beach at night and it still tracked the face and eyes without any issues. Mysterious indeed 🤔

It's so funny because on the internet everyone is mad about Fuji's AF, yet when I go out and track my black dog with dark eyes it works just fine. I use the Fuji lenses with linear motors and the Sigma zoom, nothing Chinese, maybe that's the issue in compatibility. Peter also said he had no issues. I think it's often reviewers who are not too familiar with it struggling.

@@drchtct I understand the worst problems are in video. However, that Sirui focused perfectly on my Sony every time. There might be more issues with Fuji with certain lenses but with Sony there are very few AF issues with any lens. That tells something.

@@mattisulanto I don't doubt that, Sony AF is great. But I see more and more posts about Fuji AF being unusable even for hobby usage and I find that hilarious because it's greatly exaggerated. For hobby use there are no issues at all, and even professionals showcase it's working well. Wedding photographers like Kevin Mullins show the AF can easily capture eyes in candid moments, and guys like Samuel Streetlife use Fuji to film their videos. If it's good enough for professionals, it's good enough for hobbyists. I think it's just a low hanging fruit that is used to dunk on Fuji, just like the "Sony colors" argument which is exaggerated in my opinion as well. If the AF was as terrible as people said, the X100 series wouldn't be successful.

One thing too few people talk about is Sony only going to 1/8000 shutter speed compared to 1/32000 on the X-S20 or even 1/180000 on the X-T50. When I walk around in normal daylight, I'm always in these high shutter ranges, and it becomes extremely important when you shoot with a 1.2 or 1.4 lens. Even with 2.8 I'm often around 1/10000. You'll need a filter on the Sony, while the Fuji can go without.

Well, over here in Finland we don't have bright days that would always require 1/32000 shutter speeds. We often especially in the winter have to use ISO 32000 or ISO 180000 to get any shots😂

At one time a few long and fast lenses had fluorite elements which were prone to expand in the heat so the lenses were white to reflect heat. I assume that's not an issue with this lens so the white option is presumably just for people who think they look nice!

Heat expansion probably is still an issue but more for the really long lenses. I suppose those colors for this lens are just for fun.

I wonder whether the reflections from the glass or the graphics stuck to the glass confused the face recognition. (Or maybe it was Peter's glasses and beard . . . 😅)

Cheers Matti, it’s Sean in Atlanta! I was beginning to think you and Peter had gotten a divorce! Just kidding, of course. I am always happy to see the Dynamic Duo back together again! I am in complete agreement that no lens manufacturer should make an all white lens! Talk about not stealthy… Are you going to attempt a winter in Helsinki? Or are you off again to Asia to sweat away the winter in the heat and humidity? Helsinki is a beautiful city, but I’m guessing it is seriously frigid and gets too much snow. We rarely get snow here in Atlanta, Georgia. And when it does snow between half an inch and one inch, the entire city shuts down! What is your favourite camera now that you have severed ties with Panasonic/Lumix? I had a Lumix G9 because of your review, but GAS got the better of me… Thank you for an entertaining video and please say hello to Peter for me. Sean

Really? I haven't seen one but only account with hot girl picture, I'm a genuine freelance logo designer and done logo with other RU-vidr's already, sometime youtubers are more active in the comment section and that's why I reach out to them in the comment section and with their other contacts too, these freelancer sites and apps are competitive, hence step out the norm is working for me! :-)
