This lens is glued onto my XH1 and its a portrait lens with the F1.2 aperture and very sharp in the centre and the results are spectacular when used at F1.2 . Make sure you focus in the middle of both eyes to get a tack sharp image with single point focusing of which works best . Most people complain about this lens being too slow and yes you will miss shots if your shooting fast moving subjects, but remember this is not made for sports shooting but its a portrait lens which produces very artistic images.

Anyone saying its slow to focus should try it on the newer Fujis like the XT3, and X-Pro 3. No issues

The 16-55 being only 2. 8 is better optically and autofocuses faster.

you're never going to fix slower motors than the newer fuji lenses. It's not that it's SLOW per se, it's that it is slower. Fuji really needs to release a new version of the lens with their improved internals.

I've never considered this lens slow. It's a beautiful beautiful lens. For this scene though, the sweet spot seems to be f2.2. Perfect balance of separation and dof to have the sun flowers a bit in focus. F1.2 blurs them away completely.

After watching this video of yours, I am secretly lucky to have this lens! After researching and watching many reviews about lenses, I came to the conclusion that there is no best lens other than the one I have! Cheer form Vietnam!

Incredible photos, Lee! You owned that "harsh" sunlight! This lens was in its element here. It's simply perfect for this type of work. Also, I'd say my favorite image was probably the out of focus shot of her looking over her shoulder. Haha. It was a SICK shot in my opinion (focus nailed or not). It was the most impactful to me.

As a Sony A6400 shooter, I defo wanna get the Fuji XT3 with the battery grip and start shooting Fuji alongside my Sony. Sounds strange but XT3 and A6600 will be my combo

Man, you stopping down a f/1.2 lens is gonna trigger the hell out of some people. lol. "omg he's at f/2.8! and now at f/5.6 why?? can he do that why would he do that what about the bokeh????" I love this lens. It's seriously one of the best lenses I've ever used. I've done a couple of shoots with it on my X-T3 and it's just so lovely.

hi I just wanna ask is it good to go from a canon 700d to a fuji xt 3 or should I go with an eos r + this lens is 1000 dollar any good fuji lens aroud 300_500 dollar range

the lens is good when you have a reasonably stationary model. when there is movement (like with small kids...) the lens just can not keep up. I love the look of the lens, but too many misses for my liking. I still have the lens, but always infuriating when I use it and miss focus too many times.

The only need this lens is weather sealing. 🤦🏽‍♂️ If it had, maybe it would be the best lens. In my opinion to choose 50f2 makes sense.

Great video man. Fortunate enough to own this lens. I made the purchase last year to start my portraiture journey. I've used it a couple of times now; wish I had more time to be more comfortable with it. Super powerful.

It might not be the fastest autofocus, but it’s sill fast, especially if you’re saying it’s better on newer cameras. This might be my next lens. Can’t decide haha but thanks for the video!

if you’re gonna shoot that lens at 2.2 and 5.6 why not just shoot the 50 f2. much faster and better color and contrast (i own both as well as the 90)

Although I ditched my XT for GFX sometime ago I truly believe the 60 Macro is not only a much better portrait lens but a much more useful lens all round - and I have been a pro for 35yrs+

You do not own a Fuji camera? That's a sin. On the other hand, shooting portrait in noon-ish sunlight is bold. But you're the kind of a photographer who pulls it off. Incredible.

How does the autofocus capabilites of the X-Pro 2 fare with Fuji's older, "slower" lenses such as the 56mm f1.2? I'm interested in your opinions now that you've got the X-Pro3. I know that on the X-T3 (and X-Pro3) it is a non-issue thanks to the improved autofocus technology. I'm considering an X-Pro2 now since the price has dropped quite a lot but i'm worried for the autofocus being too slow especially in lower light situations. Thank you :)

The autofocus on any of the newer lenses is just fine, but the autofocus on the 56mm can struggle a little. Most of my work is done with weddings and there have been a few occasions where the C-AF has let me down, particularly with the bride walking down the aisle. I actually bought the 50mm f2 to use for specifically that purpose, just because I can't risk it. For anything where you're not tracking moving subjects, the lens works great. For what it's worth, more recently I've been switching to the Mitakon for dance floor photos because I can manual focus faster with that than I can with the 56mm in relatively low light.

Just curious, I don't see a fill flash but the end results don't have much issue with the shadows you see as you're taking them. Did you fix them post editing or did I miss an off camera flash? Great pictures!

I rarely ever use Flash unless that is the style of image I want to create. You don't need flash if you know where to position the model in the light. Sometimes I will bring a reflector but I didn't on this shoot. Thanks for watching!

Doesnt affect at all. Just sometimes if you shoot directly into sun and you are stopped down you will see it in the light flares.

I love the image coming from the 56mmf1.2 more. But the Sony is way faster and more accurate at autofocus. Sony 85mm1.8 is also a lot cheaper as well.

You can shoot with extended ISO. L set at 100 iso.

@@eXaviar yep, DR is worse in ISO 100, you lose 1 EV (from highlight tones) compared to base ISO (which is ISO 200 on X-H1).

You should try out the canon Rf50 1.2 and the Rf85 1.2 that’s some pretty sharp lenses wide open.
