WOW. Thx for sharing the results of your hard work. Changed from Nikon a few months ago and now trying to understand the Fujifilm system and this really helped me.

I appreciate your video. Want more Korean fuji people to watch this video and to use x raw studio, therefore they're going to see its potentiality & love their fuji cameras. Thanks!

Around 03:00 -> yes, thank you! I keep wondering why they don't do X RAW for example for iPad. Great video series. Appreciate your approach to the whole Fuji system.

Great idea on integrating ipad/iphone into the in camera processing like a remote light room. Lightroom has a fantastic and seamless integration between platforms which really is a model for how photoediting software should function. I think there is even a larger busniessopportunity for fuji to integrate the in app processing. Adding direct links to transfer to their fujifilmstores to develop the pictures. So totally agree the app team behind fuji sucks majorly and should be given a big fat kick in the but, and a stash of money, or be replaced by a better team! Fuji is really missing out of an opportunity. Fuji raw is a good step on the way, its simple and easy to handle - build on that.

Good points Fredrik, I like the app link to Fuji store idea for developing. There is no doubt, our mobile devices need to be integrated at a higher level.👍

Wow! Thanks for an awesome series. I have honestly been a little frustrated with the XT4, particularly with mushy shadows. You have addressed many of those issues and I have a better understanding of how everything works together. Thanks for all of you hard work!

JPEG shooting is really the final frontier for me as a Fuji shooter. Since I shoot raw, I haven't experimented very much with the film simulations. Thanks for the very interesting video series!

Mr Armstrong, I am so delighted to have found this site while browsing around today. You certainly deserve kudos for this excellent series which you have produced. I am going to have to take the remainder of this weekend to digest all the information in your series and determine how it will be most helpful to me (I presently have the excellent Fuji X100F and I am waiting for stocks to replenish so I can obtain the Fuji X100V. I have always been a Raw + JPG shooter and found your article series to contain so much of interest. Thank you!

Man! ... this series of videos is a treasure trove of valuable information especially for someone new to the Fuji world. The Dynamic Range explanations have been especially useful to me as I was a bit lost as to what the various settings did. Thank you so much for the large amount of work you have invested in this series, you have just gained a new subscriber.

Don’t think I’ve ever commented on a video on RU-vid before but I have to say all the videos of yours I’ve seen today have been very insightful and I have learnt heaps. Just right for my level of knowledge (I did have to do a little reading) but really super thanks so much!

I took a photo of a violet flower against a old wood fence with moss/lichen on it. The fuji jpeg had tones and contrast I could not replicate in Capture 1. It was pulling contrast and detail from the flower that were not available in editing the RAW. 100% agree there is more I can do with post processing, but that revelation really drive home RAW+Jpeg shooting. I guess my intent is an approximation of a film/analog experience where I focus on getting the shot in camera, but I have the RAW as a negative of sorts where I can always go back and adjust. I'd love an iPad app to work these file edits, that would be a perfect light-weight processing setup.

Thanks for all this work, analysis, and quality info! I subscribe to several photographers on RU-vid, and a few great 'Fuji-centric' channels, each for different reasons. I have to say that yours is quickly growing into my favorite, especially for solid, professional, technical info... and just awesome images to boot! I'm thrilled to hear you say you'll be devoting a bit more effort to the channel! Thanks dude!

Hello Mister Armstrong , I would like to react on your last RU-vid upload about change. It looks like you made a very brave decision. I have subscribed to your channel already a while ago because I use the fuji system and your videos were very helpful. It looks like you stopt your channel which is a shame bud I'm sure you had very good reason for it. Still I personally hope that you will find your way back to RU-vid because we can really use somebody who is prepared to talk about story telling and honest passion driven photography where the camera is merely a tool. Thank you very much for all the videos that you have made and I hope you are doing well.

Hey John! I luckily discovered your channel a few weeks ago and I'm super happy about it. Thank you so much! I have discovered a bug between Capture one and the Fujifilm X-T4 when using the white balance shift in the camera. When I import the files, the jpegs are correct, but the raw files are way too shifted. I had a confirmation from another friend and write to the C1 community but no one has a solution. This issue is just with X-T4 and C1.
@JohnArmstrongPhotography
@JohnArmstrongPhotography 4 года назад
Thank you Ruggero, I was unaware of that issue, good to know. I’ve heard of a few issues now with the xt4 and post processing in both C1 and Lightroom, hopefully updates will sort issues. Thanks for your time.

Thanks for your great video series! It's so sad that X RAW STUDIO doesn't support that recipes / custom profiles for older cameras like my X-T3. 😒 Man, I still haven't found a convincing workflow. X-RAW-STUDIO, Lightroom, ON1, all not optimal. I like my X-T3 but I wasn't aware that some features are only available in the X-T4 or X pro3. Damn. But thank you anyway.

I have been working on this video and LR presets whenever I got a gap over the last month or so. Im not sure Fujifilm would contract me, I know nothing about coding, so not sure how effective I’d be with their software. I could certainly tell them what we need. Cheers

Hi John, greetings from Colorado. This is a super helpful series and I learned a ton, so big thanks for sharing your awesome Fuji skills. I’m still getting my head round shooting RAW on my X-T3 and am wondering when choosing settings in the IQ menu if it’s best to leave everything at defaults or set HT, ST, color, NR etc to, for example, the same as a favorite JPEG simulation recipe in custom settings? Or is it best to keep the IQ settings vanilla and then apply a “look” to RAW files in capture one or x-raw studio or Lightroom? In which case, is eterna the best simulation to use for RAW, as it’s so flat and desaturated? Or does any of this even matter with RAW? I guess I’m just looking for some clarity on how settings in the IQ menu impact RAW files, if at all. Thanks for your help! PS: I honeymooned in Knysna!

Which app are you using on your phone connected to your camera? Fujifilm Remote, or Fujifilm Camera RAW? On iPhone and iPad possible? Because I couldn’t download camera raw on my iPhone and iPad! Also when I connect my camera to my iPad, the camera screen will be off and I cannot control menu! Please advise.

Hi John, i love your presets flow and i will try it on my wedding i shot. I noticed you didn't include masking setting on the sharpening field and noise reduction any specific reason?
@JohnArmstrongPhotography
@JohnArmstrongPhotography 4 года назад
Hi Vernon, thanks for your time and comment. I just find when it comes to sharpening and noise reduction, it is so particular to each photographer, that I only added a basic sharpening adjustment to cover many images quickly. I’d suggest if you do something in particular to all images, just add it and edit the sharpening preset I created to suit your needs. Hopefully overall the presets will help speed up your wedding edit. I know wedding edits can be long, good luck.

Can iPads read raw files.
@JohnArmstrongPhotography
@JohnArmstrongPhotography 4 года назад
The iPad itself can save and store any file, but cannot read RAW files, so you cannot view a RAW file in Apple photos. You can however download many APPS that can read RAW, Lightroom mobile or other editing APPS. So if X RAW studio was made into a APP, you’d simply important the files from card or camera onto the IPad Files APP, then can be accessed and read by X RAW studio.
