When I saw you moving your dusty finger towards the sensor, I couldn't help say outloud, "No, don't!!!! The things you do for your viewers!!! Five thumbs up!!
@@pal2tech please make a video about Fuji Xt-2 tripod screws , they fall in many cases , i dont know how to repair it , i really learn a lot here god bless you
MY MAN WAYNE SZALINSKI with that INTRO!! BUT that outtro! The dedication to want to make sure people understand. You are a phenomenal teacher and undoubtedly a phenomenal father - Salud!
My heart stopped when your finger made it's way down toward the sensor. After recovering, I was glad you included special instructions for the IBIS models. Thanks!
The first 25 seconds of this video is proof of your dedication to this channel. I feel like anyone else would cut away before actually sticking their finger in there but... you committed to the bit. If that's not dedication, I don't know what is.
0:20 those moment when someone is tortured until he awfully dies in Saw movie.... it is the same feeling 😅 the most painful moment in my day! By the way, great video!
This was a very helpful video, and saved me a lot of money and probably also a lot of camera-less time if I had sent it in somewhere. The procedure was indeed easy to follow. While removing the sensor stains for which I had done the cleaning (they were gone immediately) , I had managed to get an additional dust particle on the sensor, but this was easily fixed by blowing out dust one more time. Now the stains on the image are the actual stains on my "white" wall :)))
Just followed your instructions to clean a used X-H1. Worked perfectly. Thank you so much. Your knowledge of Fuji and the content you create are amazing!
Thanks for this! I ordered the swabs and the solution you recommended, and finally worked up the nerve to clean my X-T4 sensor. It worked like a charm and no more spots. And I didn't have to send my camera out!
I just used this video to clean up my X-T4 Sensor. As a student, I can not thank you enough in encouraging people to learn how to do this instead of having to pay
Hi. I really appreciate the time and effort you put into everything you do to make such great videos. The one you did about focus bracketing, you said took months of trial and research, was a particular eye opener and of great help. Please be assured there are people out there who are in awe of your awesomeness!!
HA! what in INTRO!! As usual Pal2Tech killing the fun & informative video market!!!! I just bought an X-T4 a month ago. Since I began researching which camera to buy I have been watching Pal2Tech. When I type in my searches on youtube I always search Pal2Tech with it!. I think you're my favorite youtube personality! Which might say more about me than about you lol but I need to say thank you from the bottom of my heart for your love and effort. Now that I'm learning about photos, videos editing and all I'm beginning to understand just HOW MUCH WORK you put in!! Thank you for this video and for all your others. I would be completely lost ( and probably without a camera) if it weren't for you! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! I will def be supporting your patreon. You have been invaluable to my creative journey.
I have this video filed in my "Useful videos you may need in the future" folder. Today I had to clean my XT4 sensor and IT WAS REALLY HELPFUL. Thanks a lot Chris!!!
Such good timing you posted this as I have read in the last couple of days that due to the Fuji IBIS systems there were a couple of tweaks to the process. I have scoured the inter webs for any sources to confirm the processes.and today you post this. You have read my mind! Thanks!!
That intro was epic! It caught me off guard; I literally said out loud "....noooo...what is he doing.....Noooo Chris don't do that!.." 😂😂 Very useful video here, fantastic content as always!!
Great post Chris and extremely helpful. I bit the bullet about 3 months ago when I noticed the dreaded dust spots on my images and bought an Alturo kit for about $50. It came in a zip case complete with everything you need. First sensor clean I did on my xt3 was very very nerve wracking but managed to complete it successfully. Now if I am going on a big shoot I will check the sensor and clean it if necessary without hesitation. I also change lenses without worrying too much about dust as I know I can clean it if necessary. I haven't tried the dust on finger sensor wipe yet, I may leave that you !!
This video is a masterpiece. Thank you for doing that, man! And I HIGHLY appreciate you going straight to the point. I've been observing some RU-vid channels doing tens of minutes of video for a message that could literally be passed in 30 segunds, just to comply with AdSense algorithms and sh*t.I think that one of the main strengths of your channel is going straight to the point. Also, for this video specifically, I watched and liked it some months ago (I even left a comment saying "Your channel rocks". While photoshopping with my 100-400mm and a tight aperture, I noticed some artifacts. I went straight back to this video but wanted to check a couple more on RU-vid just to see if I was missing something. That being said, all the instructions you mentioned here are just better and make much more sense than the instructions in other videos, plus the vacuum cleaner scene at the beginning, which is simply Oscar winning, haha. Actually, it passes a very good value proposition of what you are about to teach. VIdeos like this inspires me to create my own RU-vid channel as well, or write more often in my blog. Thank you!
After watching this tutorial I had to go to my neighbour's house and vacuum his carpet for the dust to drop onto my sensor then cleaning it in order to follow your steps exactly.
googling how to clean my xt2 sensor, just screamed to my self with your opening dusty finger to the sensor! As always, great content, thanks for sharing!
Great stuff! The sensor on one of my H-1's is pretty dirty, but I was putting it off because I did not know where to start. The 'Turkeys' at the camera shop in my nearest big town store want $65 per camera to clean. I have two cameras so you just saved me $130.
Very helpful video again! Sensor cleaning can be such a pain as there are often one or two 'blobs' that won't come off the first time, but you notice too late. Incidentally, your video reminded me of that old DigitalRev video where the chaps stuff a whole sandwich into a DSLR and then start to explain sensor cleaning 😅
Thank you so much! I followed every step and worked amazingly... however I made a mistake and I had a lens that has its own IBIS and I had it turned off in the lens, so the camera also said ibis off... however, when removing the lens, it goes back to on... still no damage but ensure your lens does not interfere with your camera ibis... again, thank you so much for giving me the courage to do this...
Great video on an over looked topic. Only comment would be a static brush might have been a step between the blower and liquid cleaner. Requires much less pressure and for dust I find works well. Thanks for the tip to wipe round the mount. Obvious now you’ve made the point but that’s the first time I have seen that highlighted
Hi I was always a bit scared to clean my sensor on my X-T3. But the part of video where you put the vacum cleaner dust on your finger and rubbed it on the sensor glass got rid of the hesitation. I purchased the cleaner, air blower, and swabs to clean the sensor and cleaned my sensor and took some test shots and it was very clean with no visible sensor spots. Thanks for a great video
There was a speck of dust on my xt5 lens, and I stupidly took a piece of paper towel and very gentle touched the tip of it to the sensor which lifted the speck right away - but left a bunch of what looked like scratches in the area. gave me a heart attack. But they all went away when I did this - thank YOU lol
Always great videos here ... this is one of the better cleaning videos out there. I would just suggest to set the Aperture to f22 if you can and that will show a bit more. I can never get mine 100% clean so don't waste all of your swabs. At f2 or less than f10, I don't think most images will show the dust to be a problem. I noticed in LR that the test images were around f2 or so. Great video!
Just cleaned my XT4 again get video for reminder.. PLUS i have found a use for the old swobs... use them to clean the inside rear glass on the lenses.. wors amaizingly
You’re the best Chris. Always turn to your channel and follow your tips. Heads up sponsors! Happy Christmas to you and yours. From me and mine in North Yorkshire, U.K.
Yes it´s a bit scary to do this but using the right tools is simple and very secure process. The firts time I clean the sensor of my camera I use very little pressure, yea I was afraid, and by that I had to repeat the process several times until the a last time that I applied pressure on the swab and solve it. By this video you can have a better understanding of the pressure you need to use! thanks for the nice video! !!
I've been a fuji user and a member of your channel for almost a year and checked that video for when I would need it, wich was today. You gave me the confidence to do it and it went great (2 swabs) for my dusty sensor. Thanks a lot for all your had work (I sometime think you make too much of those informative videos), take care (I REALLY mean it) and give us some news as soon as you can. I saw your post about COVID and I am a little worried about you.
I bought a pack of 100 pec pads (with the wand) and a bottle of eclipse fluid it must be 10 years ago now. It will last forever probably. So much cheaper than sending it in every time. Great tips on the X-H1 and X-T4. I wouldn't have thought about IBIS.
I used the same liquid like you for last 12 years but different small swabs which actually made the job worst - lots of stains . Thanks for the tut ! 5/5 :)
Thanls a lot! For my own future reference: 1) Shoot without lens = Off. 2) IBIS = OFF. 3) IS mode boost = OFF 4) Shutter type = Electronic 5) Clean camera with camera on. 6) Blow dust. 7) No more of 2 drops. 8) Do not use twice the swab per side.
I just did this for the first time the other day (I somehow got a raindrop on it while changing lenses and it left a residue). Totally nerve wracking for me. But now totally clean!
@@pal2tech I had to use an APS-C brush on my 50R and it worked out ok. Realized after your video that I need to get the right size brush. Never know what you will learn! Thanks for the info.
Thanks for the clear instructions! But I have watched a few of these videos now, and finally decided to bring my camera to the shop for a cleaning ... better safe than sorry ;-)
Thanks for this very informative video! I just bought a 6 year old X-Pro 2 that had basically been sitting on someones closet shelf for those 6 years. It still had Firmware 1.0 and looks brand new. However, the sensor was the dirtiest I've ever had on a camera. The blower did not do any good nor did a couple of swipes with a dust brush. I just ordered what you recommended to use and will probably have to use at least two swabs to get the dirt off the sensor. I'm hoping for the best.
Advice Re: "Dust Brush"= NEVER use a Dust Brush on a sensor, or on the body anytime sensor box is OPEN without a lens or body cap. These brushes have a habit of gathering dust and then flicking it into the air during cleaning. If you do this in the dark with a headlamp aimed across the work area, you'll be appalled at how much dust the brush activates.
Hi Chris, thanks for sharing this video. It’s extremely useful! I have a question, the camera I’m using is a new model, X-S10, shall I switch it on while cleaning like X-H1 or X-T4 as you mentioned at 04:35?
The relevant common feature between the three cameras is IBIS. I have followed the approach recommended for the X-T4/X-H1 with my X-S10 without incident.
Hi Chris, A good thing for the viewers to note is if you purchase the swabs, to also order the Eclipse solution as it does NOT come with the swabs. Funny I was all set to clean my sensor and the box had no solution haha!!
Hi, nice video with peace of information. From my experience i would suggest that you can check how clean is you sensor by making photo of sky. On sunny day, without clouds make a picture, especially when shy is blue. You will see v.good all spots on sensor. Even more because on Fuji you do not have to do this, simply direct the camera on sky and you will see on viewfinder all spots
Wish I would have known all that info about IBIS cameras before I cleaned my X-T4... IBIS still works, thankfully, but I’ll follow these instructions next time!
